Abydreames Welcome to AbyDreames... we have 9 beautiful Abyssinians, and a Norwegian forest cat called Magic thanks for popping by and enjoying our cats with us :-)

whilst this site is named after our breeding prefix (abydreames) it outlines the adventures of all our kitties, the 5 gorgeous Abyssinian girls, our aby stud - Robbie along with plenty of coverage for Magic, our big fluffy Norwegian forest cat, and Molly, who is a chunky black & white British shorthair. The 5 aby girls appear most, as they attend cat shows and are easily the most entertaining / photogenic of the 8 cats we share our lives and home with.

After a very sad start to the week... Here is the silver lining... Cassie won her first imperial award, beat of breed and the coveted linquenda trophy class... Cairo won the Olympian award, best of breed, beat in show adult, then overall best in show!

the Heavens gained another star today.... Abydreames Hakkasan (AKA Stanley / stan the man / bobstanicus rex the 1st) passed gently this evening, and leave a huge whole in our lives...

Stan was an amazing character, who endured much in his life - starting at 10 weeks old, when an accident left him with 2 broken legs - green stick fractures near the growth plates, and his first trial was 16 weeks of pen rest... every day, trudy waited patiently on top of the sturdi carrier that was his home for him to recover enough to be allowed out, we used to let her in on occasion so she could clean him and check he was ok.

the recovery process was difficult, and the position of his injuries was not without problems, accidents around the growth plates can cause issues with the bones growing at different rates, which meant one of stans legs wasn't quite as long as the other which also caused issues with his hips later down the line.

we know that stan wouldn't make "old bones" as the saying goes, but we were determined that he would have as enriched a life as we could give him to make up for this.

He attended 2 cats shows as a youngster - and whilst it wasn't his favourite pastime, he very much did enjoy the extra attention and cuddles that everyone was happy to give him - along with the extra treats on getting home.

Stan's absolute favourite place was out in the garden, with his best friend, Auntie Gertie... they played in the garden for hours together, and whenever stan went out, Gertie was never far away

Today, the heavens gained a new star....

Gertie, the most loving and gentle of girls, leaves a massive hole in our lives... loved by everyone, her pawprints will forever be on our hearts, as we lay her to rest next to her mum, Cwen at the bottom of the garden where she so loved to spend her time.

gertie had been struggling breathing the past few days, and antibiotics were not assisting, so today she went for x-rays, which sadly revealed fluid on her lungs, and a tumour... we had to make the hardest choice, but the one that was the kindest thing for her.

gertie came into this world in my arms, and left the same way... the pain is immeasurable right now.... run free my sweet girl
