April is National Heartworm Awareness Month
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Heartworm is a preventable, but serious and potentially fatal, parasite that primarily affects cats and dogs. 🐈🐩
It is caused by a type of roundworm known as Dirofilaria immitis and is transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. 🦟
It takes 6-7 months for larvae to mature to adults. A single female adult heartworm can reach up to 14 inches (1 foot 🦶) in length and live up to 7 years.
These worms settle in the heart, blood vessels and the lungs 🫀🫁. Your pet will act normal until the larvae have matured a few months after infection.
Mosquito activity is high in Grenada 🇬🇩 so your pet is at greater risk of becoming infected. This is why heartworm prevention is vital to your pet’s wellbeing. 🐈‍⬛❤️🐕

Call Vets on the Go on +1 473 537 6960 to talk to our team about heartworm prevention and treatment for your pets.

Has your puppy been vaccinated against parvovirus?
Parvovirus causes severe illness in young and unvaccinated dogs and the chance of survival is 50:50 WITH treatment. ⚖️
Unfortunately, too many puppies are becoming infected and dying from this contagious virus. 😷🪦
You can help prevent it by making sure your puppy has been vaccinated. Do you have a vaccination record for your puppy? 📄
If not then assume he/she has not had any vaccinations or that they did not receive their full vaccination course. 💉
If your puppy is sick please DON’T give it a vaccination. Call your vet for treatment ASAP to give your puppy the best chance of life. They are vulnerable and depend on YOU to provide the care they deserve. 🐶🥰
