Mount Askhi - 2200-2500 meters! 🌄🐟

The mountain has a very interesting shape. It forms a plateau that is as much as 15 km long! It is a limestone massif that 125 million years ago was bottom seas!
Looking at it from above, it looks like the surface of Mars, in the shape of a fish. It is on the plateau that the following await us gallops above the clouds! ☁️☁️

Lebarde Lakes - can only be reached by foot or on horseback. There are two lakes - a large one and a small one. They are located at an altitude of 2300-2400 metres above sea level. If the visibility is good, you can enjoy the view of Elbrus and the peaks of the Georgian Greater Caucasus. 🌄🌅

This is a true expedition! 🔥

We sleep in tents. 🏕 We take all the necessary things with us. On site we camp under a million stars. In these mountains you can only meet shepherds grazing their cows and their wooden seasonal huts.

The mountain has an original shape. From air the mountain looks like a fish. It does not have a typical peak, but a plateau 15 km long and 2200-2300 metres high.

Join us on a one-day horseback tour! Our base is located in the village of Kulbaki, just 70 km (1.5 hours) from Kutaisi, where we will start our journey to Mount Askhi, 2200-2300 meters above sea level! 🏞 🐎🌄

🔹Below are all the necessary information about our tour:

- Season: from May 20 to October 20
- Duration of the tour: 6-8 hours on the saddle
- Starting and ending point of the tour: Village Kulbaki, our base by the Green Lake. 70 km (1.5 hours) from Kutaisi.
- Age limit: From 12 years old
- Required skills: Ability to ride in the mountains

🔹Description of the day:
We meet at 9.00 am at our base, by the Green Lake. We start from an altitude of 1000 meters. Our main goal is Mount Askhi, which measures up to 2200-2300m! The mountain has a very interesting shape, forming a plateau that is 15 km long! It is a limestone massif that was the bottom of the sea 125 million years ago. From a the air the mountain looks like the surface of Mars, in the shape of a fish.

On the plateau, we will reach a pleasant path through a magical, Colchian forest, full of chestnut trees, hornbeams, and oaks. The trail has been specially cleared and widened to provide comfort and safety to our horses. Our horseback riding tour is complemented by delicious regional flavors! A picnic awaits you halfway along the route and in summer, a tasting of natural Sulguni cheese with one of the Lebarde shepherds! You will taste this regional delicacy straight from the source!

On the way back, for those interested, there will be a bath in a hidden waterfall. After the ride, there will be time to relax by the Green Lake, where there is a trout farm and a restaurant. You will eat regional dishes and the most delicious trouts there.

🔹Additional information:
- Minimum number of riders is 3, maximum is 8.
- Bring a protective helmet and a raincoat/jacket.
- You can arrive in Kulbaki before the tour or stay longer after the tour. We can reserve a room in a wooden cottage for you. Accommodations are reserved only for participants in horseback riding tours.
- There is a restaurant by the lake where you can order a meal. We can also reserve a supra - a Georgian feast by prior arrangement. You will eat traditional Georgian dishes, delicious trout with views of the mountains from all sides. You can even catch and prepare the fish yourself. The Lechkhumi region is famous for its exceptional wine, which you will also be able to taste on site.
- Transfer from Kutaisi to Kulbaki.
- Maximum rider weight 90 kg.

🇬🇪In Georgia, we identify 3 main breeds of horses: the Megruli, the Tushetian and the Javakhuri.

🐴We will ride the brave Megrelian horses. They are the smallest of the Georgian horses. They have a very hardy and slim body structure. Megrelian horses can carry up to 100-130kg of weight! These horses are very strong and adapted to the harsh mountain conditions. 🏞🌄

⚪️🟤⚫️The most common colours are bay and chestnut, but brown, black and grey are also seen.

ℹ️Nowadays, it is possible to find combinations of the Megrelian breed with the Tushetian, Javakhuri or Arabian, English, Karachay or Karabakh horses.

✅Our horses are very well trained, calm, brave and in good care.

🐴🐴Kulbaki Horse Trails 🐴🐴 was created from the love for horses and Georgia. With our project we develop horse tourism in the little known mountains of Lechkhumi, Imeret and Mingrelia region. We have been involved in tourism for 20 years.

✨Our dream is to show you these amazing areas on horseback! Mount Askhi, its plateau (2200-2300 metres), Tobavarchkhili Lakes at 2650 metres and subalpine glades.

📍We start our horseback tours at our base at the Green Lake in the village of Kulbaki, by the trout farm. Hence our name! In Kulbaki it all started. The road from Kutaisi to the base takes only 1.5 hours!

✅We took care of safety and comfort on the trail. It was quite a challenge, as we had to adapt it for comfortable horse riding.
