Snails love lettuce!
There are alot of things that snails love to eat and lettuce is usually among the first things on that list. They outright consume it at an astounding rate. You could place a whole bunch in the pen like we did in the pictures and it would be all consumed before the night runs out. Absolutely amazing stuff.
So it's safe to say that SNAILS LOVE LETTUCE.

Achatina Achatina are herbivores so their diets consist of many plants such as nuts, flowers, fruit, stems, and leaves. Achatina achatina have also been known to eat farmers crops including cocoa, peanuts, bananas, and cauliflower.
When rearing them however, you mostly use snail feed. Ours is designed to give them everything they need to grow and be active.

Aren't these nails just incredible creatures?
When you rub a snail's shell, the snail comes out of it's shell to play and if you rub the snail on the back of its head, it will start to move along your hand. They can move all over your hand and body if you let them. It gives you this fun tingly feeling when they move on your hand.
This is one of the reasons that certain people keep snails as pets. They're honestly wonderful to have and hold.

Arent these creatures just amazing?
Did you know snails have over 14,000 teeth on their tongue, which is rough like a cat’s, and they can locate food a few metres away due to their extraordinary sense of smell?
The larger set of tentacles is their eyes, although they are almost blind and the smaller set is their olfactory organs.

Calcium is of great importance to us humans, but did you know that it is also vital for snails.
Calcium plays a variety of roles in the body of snails, including parts in fluid regulation, cell wall function, muscle contraction, and egg laying. Most importantly though, is that the snails require a large amount of calcium to form and maintain their shells.
That's why calcium is a big part of our feed, along with other necessities, so the feed keeps the snails as healthy as can be.

This is the Achatina Marginata-They can grow up to 20cm long and can live up to 10 yrs.The natural spread of this spiece is very slow because they don't lay as many eggs are the Achatina Achatina (AA) we discussed previously, so they are not preferable for commercial snail farming. However, they are considered a staple in Nigeria because of their size.

A lot of people complain about their snails experiencing stunted growth or being generally less active. This has alot to do with what the snails are being fed.
That is why we took special care when designing our feed to make sure that the the feed provided all the nutrients that the snails need to grow to full size and beyond while still providing them with the required energy to be active.

The Achatina Achatina is a very fast spreading species. Each snail lays up to 1200 eggs per year so there is great potential for commercial farming.

Achatina Achatina is commonly known as the Giant Ghana African snail. It's a species of very large air-breathing land snails. It thrives in more humid environments and it is preferred by most farmers because they have the quickest natural spread.

These are the eggs of the AM snails. They are much larger than their AA counterparts. The AM don't lay their eggs in large quantities like the AA do, but that probably has something to do with their eggs being much bigger.
