Good morning my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

A little update on Suus.

No new picture because it is a bit difficult to take a picture of her as i can't really let her wonder off on her own without paying a 100% attention to her. The video is from the first day after her second seizure, made for the vet to show what's going on as when I brought her in the day before, she could hardly stand up.

This sounds maybe weird to do (and I really don't care), but the symptoms of her seizures are minimal but result in a huge seizure that has last around 12 hours two times, with a 12 hour 'interval'. For that reason I have her crate resting a lot too, to get her body stronger.

Her behaviour looked a lot like rabies, but as Crete has no rabies, this was excluded. There is however a rabies lookalike, but also this can't be tested by blood.

Then there is a virus going on in Holland, the werewolf syndrome and also her symptoms looked like this, she even howled.

Then there is also a brain haemorrhage possibility and a heart failure possibility. Parvo can cause this. She was Parvo positive, but no Parvo signs, nor smell.

She had heart arrhythmia, but that was stable again when she came out of the seizure.

The first day she was more than 12 hours out of her seizure, she still seemed disorientated, and with every step she took, she was whining.

When I picked her up, she also started snapping, this is not her character, this is what this thing does. Also she was attacking her food and water bowl.

Now she is not having any symptoms. She is behaving normal, no whining, no biting and accepting hugs, cuddles and being picked up is perfect again too.

Her white blood pellets were extremely low, when this is better again, she maybe will get the medication to control the seizures, if this is necessary.

There does not seem to be any neurological damage either.

So far all is a big mystery, but she's monitored constantly, and when necessary, she will be off to the vet immediately again.

Good morning my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

Yesterday late afternoon, the order with all the extra supplements for the puppies and Thalia had arrived.

Multivitamins, probiotics for the Parvo ones, pills for their coat and crate cleaning stuff which is microbiotic, so killing a lot of germs.

I normally am not the supplement person, but dumped puppies often have been taken away too soon from their mother's, so I think it is necessary to have and to give.

I'm really happy with the tubes of vitamin paste, they love it and it is easy to give.

I also give some vitamins to Vito, who has hypoglycemia which causes seizures, as the seizures take a lot from his body.

Good afternoon my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

Here we have Vito.

Vito has hypoglycemia

I tried to take a good picture but he is very restless the last couple of days and has had a fit twice in one week, both very severe. The restlessness is one of the symptoms, paired wit excessive panting.

He came out of it good, but it seems the fits get worse, although I have to say last year in winter they appeared to be stronger too, compared to summer.

He is on medication, epityl. And now I'm going to order special food for him, which is high in protein and Omega 3, which he needs.

Proteins produce glucose, and as a dog has low sugar food (sugar is bad also for hypoglycemia anyway, glucose produced naturally is good for his body), he needs a high protein food.

I found this food online and it will cost €39,95 per 12kg. I will order two for now and I'll order a new big bag of Thalia food also again.

If anyone wonders, yes indeed I have a lot of dogs with special needs/ medical problems. Although I had in mind to be called to collect dogs with special needs/medical problems or to find them on the streets, they seem to find their way to me naturally.

Call it my 'antennas', i guess.

Unfortunately this costs even more than the 'normal' costs.

Many times it involves much cleaning with desinfectans, the use of diaper pads, many baby wipes, bin bags, but also special food, as this truly does make a difference, vet visits and a lot of medication.

For this i mostly need your support and likes, shares etc. As dimos couldn't care less for any of the dogs in the municipality, unfortunately it is my only option to ask a little help from many people. And you are doing a great job already!!! 💜🐾

It is a challenge and it is often heartache, physical and mental exhaustion, but I'm truly doing my best to give them the medical care they need, not to forget the attention, cuddles and love.

Someone said to me once: you are doing God's work... I'm not, I'm doing Dimos' work.

I always go to the same pharmacy for years, because they have the best staff there, and nothing is too much.

Recently a fab young lady was added to their team.

A lady I know for many years is working there too and a few weeks ago we talked about the shelter.

Today o went to pick up medication for Thalia and the new girl remembered me. I spoke about Thalia and she could not believe it.

Then what happened...... ? She paid for Thalia's medication.

I wanted to cry....

All little things help so much and it is such a great feeling to be appreciated and not always seen as crazy or dirty or whatever.

Good morning my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

Whereas she normally gets up when I come in, she couldn't be bothered at all this morning (food did the trick though 🙄😍).

So bed approved!!

Happy days for this girl, all on her own pace!! She can now also walk backwards, turn and shake herself without falling 🔥💪. Every day a bit stronger.

Good afternoon my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

Here we have very sick little Suus.

Last night she had a fit again. From around 3-4 in the night I was with her till the morning. She was restless, wobbly on her little legs, collapsed again, but also started biting.

She had normal p**p, normal p*e, ate normal, but the whole night she was restless, biting her box, turning, standing, laying down, and repeat.

In my previous video we did not know what it was yet, Distemper was ruled out, she is parvo positive but got treatment for that already.

The symptoms are not Parvo.

She ate normal, but now returned home, she does not eat nor drink. So unfortunately I can't give her medication and will bring her back tonight if it won't get better,

I picked up also the new pupper that had parvo, he's fine, eating, drinking, now medication until they are good enough for vaccines.

Both dogs have cost me 292€. Dogs that are the responsibility of Dimos and the owners of their parents.

People tell me not to take in more dogs. But here I agree with Takis Shelter non profit organisation . I can not.

You can scroll on, I hear them, I hear the fear cries, the hunger cries, the calling for mama cries, it is devastating and heartbreaking, I see them, I see them waste away, and I am the one that eventually will see their tiny dead corpses and simply I can't live with myself if I have not done anything I could to let them live.

I'm exhausted, wasting away myself, and 24 hours is not enough on my own for 70+ dogs of which many are sick, but if I don't do it, who will!?

A few people help me with vet visits, and 1 person is half sacrificing herself for me and drags her hubby into it too, I'm grateful, but 1 person is not enough.

I would be helped more if someone can get my weekly food for the dogs, if someone could help me fix things here as so much still needs to be done but with so many sick dogs to clean, feed etc I simply don't have the time.

I need someone that can search the whole island for pallets and bring me them, I need someone that is not afraid to sit here in case I do have an emergency an need to be away longer.

I need people to share my posts, comment on them, to share my fundraiser, my cries for help, and more not just like them. The more people see, the more chance on help. A few do that already, but it seems only to work in tragic cases like Thalia. The not so tragic cases need food and vet care too...

Once again. I'm grateful what we all have achieved so far but as the dogs are getting more, no adoptions as I have no clue who to trust, fosters again only line up in tragic cases like Thalia, but not for dogs like beautiful Fay or Lola who still is at the petshop sanctuary and cost me more than I can pay.

I never wanted a shelter with puppies, I wanted a shelter for those who need a bit more, like Thalia, but it appears to be a huge dumping ground here, not only now, after some asking, it is like that for years.

Sometimes the dogs around howl and then my dogs start too. This howling is different as when I cry, this is a deeper sound.

Good morning my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

Please listen to this as I have no idea what it could have been. Little Suus collapsed, after which she was completely paralysed and completely limb like a ragdoll.

If you have any ideas, please let me know.

As she had fluid in her belly, I also checked water intoxication, but the paralysis is not mentioned there.

It was some sort of coma maybe, I'm have no idea.

Good morning my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

Yesterday night, like I do every night before sleep, I sat with Thalia, telling her how amazing and smart and beautiful she is.

She had made herself comfy on her cuddly toys all by herself. I thought it was too cute.

Also, if she is thirsty, she now opens the bottle, throws it and licks water from the floor. This girl is beyond intelligent.

She also tells me when she needs to go to the loo, and if I'm a bit late on schedule for breakfast, she's going to find the bag and tries to self service... 😍

I hope her big teddy arrives soon, she will enjoy it so much. Can't wait to see her happiness!!

Good Afternoon my Doggie Besties 💜🐾

As many of you know, when things get a bit too much, I'm a bit less on social media, because I just need a little break sometimes.

Nothing is wrong, this is normal for me, I call it my 'turtle mode'. I just need to put things in place in my head a bit, as it all becomes too much.

The horrific things Thalia endured is one. When you see things on Facebook, you can scroll on, but to see this in real is completely something else. Emotionally it is so hard.

And then the puppies.... I lost three, and I'm devastated.

The new puppies, three are good, one is at the vet. They are so, so skinny, I'll post pictures later, but I'd rather not unnecessarily touch them as if they are parvo positive, it is highly contagious.

But the show must go on.

So after a bit of mind rest, here I am again.

And with some good news too.

I'm a firm believer that if you do good, you receive good. Even though doing good in rescue comes with often a heavy heart, it does not go by unseen.

Phaedra Sideri Hoffs had tagged me in a post that had posted in one of the Cretan selling groups. He wanted to give his car away to someone in need, using it good.

And guess what?

It's mine as from Saturday or Sunday!

I'm really too overwhelmed. I can't believe it yet.... I'm grateful, thankful and it really warms my heart that good people still exist. Everyone here is the proof of that.

Good morning my Doggie Besties 💜🐾 A little update on Suus. No new picture because it is a bit difficult to take a picture of her as i can't really let her wonder off on her own without paying a 100% attention to her. The video is from the first day after her second seizure, made for the vet to show what's going on as when I brought her in the day before, she could hardly stand up. This sounds maybe weird to do (and I really don't care), but the symptoms of her seizures are minimal but result in a huge seizure that has last around 12 hours two times, with a 12 hour 'interval'. For that reason I have her crate resting a lot too, to get her body stronger. Her behaviour looked a lot like rabies, but as Crete has no rabies, this was excluded. There is however a rabies lookalike, but also this can't be tested by blood. Then there is a virus going on in Holland, the werewolf syndrome and also her symptoms looked like this, she even howled. Then there is also a brain haemorrhage possibility and a heart failure possibility. Parvo can cause this. She was Parvo positive, but no Parvo signs, nor smell. She had heart arrhythmia, but that was stable again when she came out of the seizure. The first day she was more than 12 hours out of her seizure, she still seemed disorientated, and with every step she took, she was whining. When I picked her up, she also started snapping, this is not her character, this is what this thing does. Also she was attacking her food and water bowl. Now she is not having any symptoms. She is behaving normal, no whining, no biting and accepting hugs, cuddles and being picked up is perfect again too. Her white blood pellets were extremely low, when this is better again, she maybe will get the medication to control the seizures, if this is necessary. There does not seem to be any neurological damage either. So far all is a big mystery, but she's monitored constantly, and when necessary, she will be off to the vet immediately a

Good afternoon my Doggie Besties 💜🐾 Here we have very sick little Suus. Last night she had a fit again. From around 3-4 in the night I was with her till the morning. She was restless, wobbly on her little legs, collapsed again, but also started biting. She had normal poop, normal pee, ate normal, but the whole night she was restless, biting her box, turning, standing, laying down, and repeat. In my previous video we did not know what it was yet, Distemper was ruled out, she is parvo positive but got treatment for that already. The symptoms are not Parvo. She ate normal, but now returned home, she does not eat nor drink. So unfortunately I can't give her medication and will bring her back tonight if it won't get better, I picked up also the new pupper that had parvo, he's fine, eating, drinking, now medication until they are good enough for vaccines. Both dogs have cost me 292€. Dogs that are the responsibility of Dimos and the owners of their parents. People tell me not to take in more dogs. But here I agree with Takis Shelter non profit organisation . I can not. You can scroll on, I hear them, I hear the fear cries, the hunger cries, the calling for mama cries, it is devastating and heartbreaking, I see them, I see them waste away, and I am the one that eventually will see their tiny dead corpses and simply I can't live with myself if I have not done anything I could to let them live. I'm exhausted, wasting away myself, and 24 hours is not enough on my own for 70+ dogs of which many are sick, but if I don't do it, who will!? A few people help me with vet visits, and 1 person is half sacrificing herself for me and drags her hubby into it too, I'm grateful, but 1 person is not enough. I would be helped more if someone can get my weekly food for the dogs, if someone could help me fix things here as so much still needs to be done but with so many sick dogs to clean, feed etc I simply don't have the time. Good evening my Doggie Besties 💜🐾 I'm most of the time here but sometimes I need to leave. So for accidents, I put down a diaper pad. I have only done this two times and she gets it already! She amazes me! When I enter the room, and she has had an accident, especially with poo, she pushes herself against the wall in fear. Needless to say what had happened at the hell she has stayed. I do then tell her all the good words and I hug her, feeling her heart racing. It is absolutely devastating but she understands quickly this is no longer her life. You are fantastic Thalia.
