🐴No dog, no cat, but still in need🐴
Last week, we received an unusual call for help. A young girl discovered a mule in a mountain village desperately searching for food at garbage containers. It was nothing but skin and bones. How many other people might have simply looked away? Of course, that wasn't an option us, and we immediately went there to secure it. Luckily, an equine veterinarian was on vacation in Naxos at the time and immediately agreed to examine the mule. We received a cautious all-clear: the mule, a mare estimated to be around 18 years old, is in terrible condition and completely emaciated, but shows no other signs of illnesses. We cleared the largest kennel at our temporary foster area for her, and she is now being nursed back to health until she is fit to travel. Then, a befriended organization near Athens that specializes in farm animals will take her in. We sincerely ask for your support, as the costs of care, medical treatment, and, last but not least, ferry transport (at least €1,000) will be enormous. Let's do this together so that the Naxos Animal Welfare Society can continue to give hope to every animal in need! Every donation counts!

🐴Ούτε σκύλος, ούτε γάτα, αλλά βρίσκεται σε ανάγκη🐴
Την περασμένη εβδομάδα, λάβαμε μια ασυνήθιστη κλήση για βοήθεια. Ένα νεαρό κορίτσι ανακάλυψε ένα μουλάρι σε ένα ορεινό χωριό, το οποίο έψαχνε απεγνωσμένα για τροφή σε κάδους απορριμμάτων. Στο μουλάρι είχαν απομείνει μόνο κόκαλα. Πόσοι άλλοι άνθρωποι μπορεί απλώς να το είχαν προσπεράσει; Φυσικά, αυτό δεν ήταν επιλογή μας, και πήγαμε αμέσως εκεί για να το προστατεύσουμε. Ευτυχώς, ένας κτηνίατρος ιπποειδών βρισκόταν σε διακοπές στη Νάξο εκείνη την εποχή και συμφώνησε αμέσως να εξετάσει το μουλάρι, είναι θηλυκό, περίπου 18 ετών, είναι σε άθλια κατάσταση και εντελώς αδυνατισμένο, αλλά δεν δείχνει άλλα σημάδια ασθένειας. Εκκενώσαμε το μεγαλύτερο κλουβί στον προσωρινό χώρο φιλοξενίας μας για αυτήν, και τώρα νοσηλεύεται μέχρι να επανέλθει στην υγεία της και να είναι σε θέση να ταξιδέψει. Στη συνέχεια, μια φιλική οργάνωση κοντά στην Αθήνα που ειδικεύεται σε ζώα φάρμας θα την αναλάβει. Ζητούμε την υποστήριξή σας, καθώς το κόστος φροντίδας, ιατρικής περίθαλψης και, τέλος, της μεταφοράς με πλοίο (τουλάχιστον 1.000 €) θα είναι τεράστιο. Ας το κάνουμε αυτό μαζί, ώστε η Φιλοζωική Νάξου να συνεχίσει να δίνει ελπίδα σε κάθε ζώο που έχει ανάγκη! Κάθε δωρεά μετράει!

Manthos, born in 2012, was found in the village of Eggares walking around with a cut rope hanging from his neck. He came to our temporary foster area where after some time he started to limp very badly. He started special supplements for arthritis and painkiller injections. He traveled to the Cyclades Veterinary Clinic, in Syros, to have his deformed toe removed. There, a mass was also discovered on his elbow, which was also removed. His recovery was difficult and he was hospitalized for many nights in Syros. He returned healthy and happy, as he is no longer in pain and enjoys his life in our place. The surgeries, hospitalization and medication that he needed cost €1000. We ask for your help in covering this amount as it is large in addition to the already burdened expenses of the Naxos Animal Welfare Society. Thank you very much!

Ο Manthos, γεννημένος το 2012, βρέθηκε στο χωριό Εγγαρές να κυκλοφορεί με ένα κομμένο σκοινί κρεμασμένο στον λαιμό του. Ήρθε στο προσωρινό χώρο φιλοξενίας μας όπου μετά από κάποιο διάστημα ξεκίνησε να κουτσαίνει πολύ έντονα. Ξεκίνησε ειδικά συμπληρώματα για αρθριτικά και παυσίπονες ενέσεις. Ταξίδεψε στην κτηνιατρική κλινική Κυκλάδων, στην Σύρο για να αφαιρεθεί το παραμορφωμένο δάχτυλο του ποδιού του. Εκεί ανακαλύφθηκε και μια μάζα στον αγκώνα του, η οποία αφαιρέθηκε και αυτή. Η αποθεραπεία του ήταν δύσκολη και νοσηλεύτηκε πολλά βράδια στην Σύρο. Επέστρεψε υγιής και χαρούμενος, καθώς πλέον δεν πονάει και χαίρεται την ζωή του στον χώρο μας. Οι επεμβάσεις, η νοσηλεία και η φαρμακευτική αγωγή που χρειάστηκε κόστισαν 1000€. Ζητάμε την βοήθεια σας στην κάλυψη αυτού του ποσού καθώς είναι μεγάλο στα ήδη βεβαρημένα έξοδα της Φιλοζωικής Νάξου. Σας ευχαριστούμε πολύ!

We urgently need dry kitten food, only Gemon kitten brand, from Vasalakis pet shop. You can bring it to our temporary foster area or let us know and we can go get it. The number of kittens we host consumes 40 kilos per week, so we need your help immediately. Thank you very much!

Χρειαζόμαστε επειγόντως ξηρά τροφή για γατάκια, αποκλειστικά μάρκα Gemon, από το pet shop Vasalakis. Μπορείτε να μας την φέρετε στον προσωρινό χώρο φιλοξενίας μας ή να μας ενημερώσετε και να πάμε να την πάρουμε εμείς. Ο αριθμός από τα γατάκια που φιλοξενούμε καταναλώνει 40 κιλά την εβδομάδα, οπότε χρειαζόμαστε άμεσα την βοήθεια σας. Ευχαριστούμε πολύ!

Cat's name is Totò male, sterilized and has a chip. The area that he left from was Plaka, has anyone seen him? He had a collar with the address capsule but I do not think that he has it anymore as the collar was the type that opens. There will still be the sign of him having a collar. Το όνομα της γάτας είναι Τοτο, αρσενικός, στειρωμένος και έχει τσιπ. Η περιοχή από την οποία έφυγε ήταν η Πλάκα, τον έχει δει κανείς; Είχε ένα κολάρο με την κάψουλα διευθύνσεων, αλλά δεν νομίζω ότι το έχει πια καθώς το κολάρο ήταν ο τύπος που ανοίγει.
