Just to say. my best wishes to all my dogs and their owners for this New Year.
2024 is my last year in Crete as I will shortly be returning to UK for health reasons but I have so many wonderful memories of the dogs who have entertained me over the years. So much pleasure to have had them coupled with the sorrow of those who have passed on. I did think of making a list , but it was too long.
There will be news of the re-opening of Crete Kennels under the qualified owners and staff ho will take over the mantle.
Again, a healthy and happy New Year to you all

As many know, a long period of ill health, coupled with a very negative actions by my ex partner (who left 11 year ago) has left me with no option but to SELL the property.
With the co-operation of the bankers this will take place on 23/10/24 by Auction.

18 years ago, this was not my dream result but 'others' give me no choice.

As some friends know, the last year has been unsettling for me.
It started with months of private doctors, scans etc as to problems with health and mobility

, In January I ended up in Rethymnon Hospital followed up with many outpatients tests/treatment for inflammation in the head.
finally solved !

On top of this. also knowing about my blocked artery in the leg, and cautious about surgery, i was left with no optionin May when this became an emergency.. Operation in Heraklion, home for 5 days then emergency op for infection andda further 3 weeks in Heraklion where dead parts removed ! Then back to Crete Kennels with home nursing.

BUT after a rather fraught 9 months, hospitals, surgery, infections, more surgery etc I am on the road to recovery and rebuilding muscles in legs

Just to update you The doctors are pleased with progress and I HOPE TO BE REOPENING in the next 3 months.

I will up date everyone as and when definite. date is known.

Just for a lighter note, as no-one has seen it yet, the night time option for the dell pictures with ' white light' also still there.

And to answer some of the queries, YES, I am still here (although closed), looking after the place , planting this years flowers etc. A period of ill health means that I judged that it would not be safe and up to my standards to have the responsibility for my guests even though I am good in myself... just a bit too slow.
There may come a time when I will be back to 'normal' and will keep you all in touch as to progress, meanwhile, spring is upon us and much to do.

Yet again, I have to announce the passing of one of my regulars. Dearest Clara, the Bernese passed away last night. Big and beautiful who loved nothing more than to stand on my one foot and have plenty of love. While her companions Franzi and Miri would look around the gardens, she was up close and loving.
However long I did the 'job' (and how I miss it) so lucky to have know my guests/friends

Sadly, dear Klio who had just had her 16th Birthday needed to be released from her pain today. friends and the vet came here and, as promised , she was buried here with lots of love..

For those customers and friends, Finally got to complete the wish list with a short trip to UK to see family and we all went to Mama Mia ! (at last).
Life has changed so much in the past year and so much to happen in the next few month, but very happy memories over the last 9 years culminating on this weekend.

Expected but some sad news today. Dumbo, who was a long time visitor and friend has passed away.
We always saw in the New Year together and I often say, he knew more about me than anyone.
The owners had altered a trip to their German doctor so he would be my last dog in, but this all had to be cancelled after his diagnosis with cancer and their wish to be with him to the end..
He had his peculiarities but we coped with getting him stone bowls and his private entrance etc... such a great dog rest in peace my friend.

An unusual request,
This is Breach, a lovely 5 year old boy.. Who needs help. His owners have an overseas transfer which means (due to extreme heat) Breach needs a forever home. Active and loves walks but also lots of love.
All enquiries should be made to me and Breach will be at my home (where he has been a frequent guest) from 14th June so you can visit and meet him ... call me on 6949688722 if you feel he is your ideal companion.

some sad news, Lucy, the first dog ever to come here, passed away. She was 15 years old but her owner had planned to bring her here after May day for a happy memory day. One of the endearing memories are of the second time she was collected from Rethymnon. Drew up in the car and she leapt in, getting a comment from her owner that ' I will miss you too, Lucy'
A destructive but playful pup... RIP Lucy

NOT a sign of the future.. today the authorities have decided to remove ALL private signs for the roads , even this one 15m back on private land. The main sign has also now gone. .. only found out when a couriier could not find me and customer missed the turning.
How customers are supposed to find businesses, who knows?
These were designed for safety so drivers could see through them etc.

This sweet boy is called Godber... great nature and owned by one of my old customers who sadly lost their their dogs a coupe of years ago. Still on long lead as he is overawed by the other dogs but loves the pups next door

After finally planting the trees as planned 15 years ago, thought I would add tree number 101 in the car park. Perhaps, after planting so many for dogs etc, this one can be Pete's tree.... will not see this one get to 20 m high but finishes off my plans/
