So typically, just as Teresa and Tim prepare to fly home after returning the borrowed carrier, Spot and her kittens put in an appearance and get fed.
So often the way.....
On the plus side, one of the kittens has been adopted and will go to Athens, and Teresa would love to have one too, but as with any adoption, it needs to be carefully thought through.
In the meantime, Spot and the rest of her litter are on my radar!

Good morning.....
My day started with not enough cans of wet food to feed the gang breakfast, so I put it the one can I had and headed to the shops for more. I was too tired, hot and flat to go out last night. It's rare I don't make the effort because I hate getting up to no food for the cats for the morning.
I went to the closest supermarket and was shocked to have to pay €1.50 per can so I bought the 7 I needed for today (3 to make up 4 for breakfast and 4 for their dinner tonight). I spent a total of €12.70 for 7 cans of cat food and a small fruit juice for myself!
I've put out fresh water in the 3 large stainless steel bowls I have out for them, and I've come in for a break; it's already so hot.
I'm used to Kiss being in my bedroom in the relative cool, but now Tonia has cottoned onto this and is regularly coming into my room too.... Titch, George, Mildred and Tigri have all been up to check it out yesterday too and I can't keep them out because I've only got a portable cooler with an exhaust vent to move hot air out that needs to go through an opening in the door.....

Yesterday, the lovely Teresa and her husband visited at evening feeding time to return a carrier I'd lent them.
They are repeat visitors to Nidri and stay at the same hotel, so they have gotten to know the local kitties who, by and large, are friendly and, unfortunately, keep reproducing.
The plan was to get Spot into the carrier and then call me, and I'd take her to the vet. You know what they say about the best laid plans.....
It wasn't to be this time, but that area is now on my radar, and I'd told them to give the hotel my number.
To be painfully honest, I've got enough going on at the moment, and not enough energy and tolerance of the extreme heat we're having to do it. Today, i just needed to do the bare minimum and have time out in front of my fan.
While they were here, Teresa took this great shot of Philip, one of our lovely residents who is ready to go to England to the cat cafe when that can be organized.
He's such a character and oh so friendly!

Well, apparently, it's international cat day today..... Actually, it's cat day every day here and has been for years....
I want to thank the folks who sent through donations recently to help me keep going but also to help me prepare my 30 odd cats to move to
My first appointment to take a batch of my cats is 20th August, which is the same day I'll take Kiss for her pre travel check-up as she flies to Duesseldorf the next day.
As a rough guide it's going to be about €200 per cat for examination, blood tests, vaccination, etc over 2 visits 3 weeks apart and the petrol to go to Preveza including the road toll fees along the way. All assuming no other health issues are identified that need treating.
I guess International Cat Day is as good a day as any to ask for support, although I'm always begging; it has been a way of life for years now.

Good morning. Another stinking hot day cranking up. Stonemasons are still in the garden. No jack hammering, but now we've moved onto the circular saw. I swear I'm going to start having to put gabapentin in the cat food.......
