As the FB fundraisers only allow for one single photo, we are reposting this with all the fundraisers links so that we can share the progress with you all.
many of you know, Domino's Cat Rescue League in Palm City Florida suffered a lot of damage during the storms last season. Over the year we have worked removing trees, restoring houses and laying new roofs all over the property but the kitty eventually ran dry after nearly $60.000 in repair costs and with one of our buildings still in urgent need to a new roof, drywall and electrical work.
Well, thanks to contributions and funds raised by our patrons, fans, followers and fellow cat lovers, the day is here and the time has come.
The work has finally started and the roofing nightmare will soon be over. The promised metal roof fell through as the roofer who works with the metal firm came to look at the job said he would not put people on the roof as the building was not strong enough to be walked on and he generally did not seem to want the job.
Not so, said the great crews from Burly Guys and the crew from Jot and Tittle Ventures LLC who has come together to help us get our kitties a safe and dry home, metal roof or no metal roof.
Not only did they step up, they decided to change their routine, so that they would do the tearoff and construction in sections and phases that would allow for the cats within Domino's House to be moved from room to room within their house and not having to go through the stress of being moved to an alltogether new house and an unfamiliar environment.
The demolition and first steps started yesterday and we have days to go before the work will be completed, but we are all cheering the guys on with each step forward, no matter how small, knowing that soon, our cats will again be safe, warm and dry.
Of course no building project comes without a few surprises and as the old roof came off the first part of the building, it was clear that the storm/water damage was worse than originally expected.
We will however still come in just below our max estimate of $ 20.000 for the full job, and that will include the roof, the drywall repair, floor repair and the electrical work.
So we are turning to our supporters once again to ask you please to help us make it to the finish line and to give the kitties the home they deserve to have.
Once again, a huge shoutout to our supporters and a heartfelt plea for a great push up towards our 20.000 goal.
(we are $ 9000 short as of today)
Another heartfelt thank you to Burly Guys and to Jot and Tittle Ventures LLC for their hard work and for their efforts to put the welfare of the cats first.
Thank you also again to WPTV News for covering our story.
