ATTN:

We found these two puppies on Mamey Lane in front of the butcher shop, but we looked and couldn't find the owners. We don't have enough space to take care of two puppies, and we both work all day, so we don't want to leave them alone inside the apartment all day. Consuelo is ready for a home. Potty trained, good with cats and dogs. Leash and off leash trained. She’s a very good dog I have fostered her and she is a joy.

She’s at Jasper's Utila Animal Shelter and can come to the USA for the right person.

Jasper’s Utila Animal Shelter offers medical attention to all pets on the island at the lowest cost possible. Our monthly spay and neuter campaign is thriving and growing every month that goes by and our adoption program is steadily developing towards a more stable future. All of this is posible with your many donations and help during all of our activities and we hope you can keep providing us with that wonderful help.

Even though we love posting about our many milestones and sharing our achievements with all of our followers we also have to let you know the truth about the medical aspects we deal with on a regular basis. Not as a means of scaring you, but towards building a strong responsible owner mentality in everyone around the island. You are seeing our 2023 year review of the most common medical issues our team had to tend to and the mortality and survival rates of each one.

All of these incidents can be prevented:

-Puppies should be completely vaccinated before interacting with the outside environment to prevent lethal viral infections.
-Every dog should only leave their house while on a leash and never roam the street by themselves to prevent accidents with any vehicle, remember we don’t have X rays on the island, nor the means to help your pet during a serious accident (fracture, internal wounds, etc.), so it is better to prevent it as best as you can.
-All dogs and cats should take their preventive medication as indicated by a veterinarian, to prevent tickborn diseases, heartworm, intestinal parasites and more. Preventive medicine and information about this topic is always available at the shelter for you at any time.
-Dogs SHOULD NOT be bought in the mainland, or anywhere for that matter, to prevent people from making a business out of selling animals. ADOPT DON’T SHOP.
