So, you have a male doberman... And maybe your dog has an IPO exam... And maybe your dog is a famous stud... But, do you have control over your dog!? And I mean, always? Even during mating with a female in heat in front of them? If your dog is an IPO doberman with stable, calm, patient and working character this should be very easy for him... But somehow it's not always like that :) I heard breeders and owners of doberman studs saying that their IPO male doberman is very "temperament" during mating, with pulling and barking and what not... I heard them saying that with more and more matings their stud becomes even more stubborn and willful... This is their way of describing dog's behavior and their inability to control a dog. It's their way of justifying lack of control over their dog. It's a clear sign that either a dog is not fully IPO trained or a dog does not have stable and calm character to endure a distraction like female in full heat in front of them. Either way, you don't have control over your dog and consequently you cannot trust him. And a friendship with a doberman without trust is a friendship wasted... In this video you can see Gotti van het Wantij in full control with female in heat in front of him, happily doing circles in heel position around female and starting mating only when told... The mating takes place off leash of course, in a public park, with people watching, near a coffee bar and a 6-lane avenue... in a word, ultimate distraction for a stud male.
