Maya (Bátor), the beautiful husky girl who was stolen a year ago, returned home from Zagreb yesterday ❤️❤️❤️

As we previously reported, dogs were found tied up in a forest in Zagreb. Our Zagreb comrades took them to the shelter and scanned their microchips. Together, we unraveled the story.

Maya (formerly known as Bátor) was stolen a year ago, and the other tied-up dogs belonged to the thief. It is not known what happened to the person, as they have not been found since.

We contacted Maya's owner and promised to bring her home.

Our journey was not easy. We had just set off when the rear wheel of our rescue vehicle exploded on the road. But we didn't give up, and an hour later, the mission continued.

We arrived safely in Zagreb. It was incredible to see such a beautiful, clean, and well-equipped shelter waiting for us.

Maya looked like she had just come from the beautician, even though they didn't know we were coming because we informed them at the last minute 🙂

The journey back home was very long, with massive traffic jams. So we took a break in Budapest, where Monkey and Siri, the huskies, were our hosts.

They tried to cheer her up, but Maya seemed very sad, not knowing what was happening around her.

We changed cars and set off to her owners. As we arrived in Encs, Maya started to blossom, and the reunion after a year was truly touching ❤️❤️❤️

Now that Maya has finally returned home, we will also file a report, just as our Croatian friends did in Croatia.

1200km, 2 cars, 1 driver, 1 whole day, and 100,000 Ft worth of fuel and toll fees. We would do it all over again anytime because the reunion and the happiness we experienced were worth it all.

Announcement regarding the case of stranded dogs found in a forest near Zagreb, Croatia.

Our foundation came across a post on a social media platform by our Croatian colleagues, stating that the dogs have Hungarian microchips. We have reached out to all parties involved, and this is what we currently know:

The owner of one of the Huskies lent their dog to someone for sled pulling six months ago, the same person from whom they purchased the dog. Unfortunately, they haven't been able to reach this person since, and it appears that the dog has been stolen.

This person is the registered owner according to the microchip for the other three dogs.

We have been in contact with our Croatian colleagues, and the owner is eagerly awaiting the return of the stolen Husky. We are arranging the necessary paperwork and will bring the dog back in the coming days.

Unfortunately, at present, we can only bring back the other three dogs if there is a reliable receiving organization available since we don't have enough space. If there is a rescue organization willing to take in the other two Huskies and the German Shepherd, please contact us no later than tomorrow, as we will plan our transportation and handle the paperwork accordingly. Multiple organizations can apply if they can accommodate them separately.

The German Shepherd is a female born in October 2021.
One Husky is a male born in September 2020.
The other Husky is a female born in September 2020.

We have initiated the clarification of the case with the involvement of Hungarian and Croatian authorities.

Unser Hund, Don sucht ein Zuhause

Unser sehr beliebter Junge, Don, ein Husky- und Deutscher Schäferhund-Mischling möchte ein Zuhause und viele Liebe zu ihrer neuen Adoptant geben. Wir können einfach nicht verstehen, wieso er noch keinen gefunden hat, er wartet schon seit einer Weile..

Don ist ein starker, eigensinniger, überspannter Kerl.
Er ist sehr schlau, lernt sehr schnell, kann mit Hundesnacks sehr gut motiviert werden, als er mag seinen Bauch sehr. Er ist aber eigenwillig und versucht immer die Grenzen zu verschieben. Er braucht also einen gleich willensstarken, konsistenten Adoptant, der auch Sport treibt, magt Ausflüge und lehrt gern den Hund.

Don braucht viele Pflege, und langweilt sich ohne diese. Er ist auch ein guter Wachhund, aber bellt nicht unnötig. Er kommt mit anderen Hunden gut zurecht, ist freundlich und spielerisch.

Er kann doch ein bisschen zu viel für die andere Hunde sein. Er ist mit dominanten männlichen Hunden oft heftig, draufgängerisch.
Er kennt die Leine, er muss sich aber mit seinem Adoptant damit noch üben. Eine Hundeschule kann dabei hilfreich sein.

Er mag Kätze gar nicht.

This is how is going in Hungary. The "owner" said she just came home like this. We don't need the dog, you can take it where you want...

Every week there are similar cases in Hungary, so many people have animals but they absolutely don't care, for them, they are just things.

Lola had this serious injury and she was without help around all day long. With a broken head like this....

She is very lucky, vets did their best and it looks like she will survive without any long-term issues. She can be a happy dog, she can learn how is life in a family with love and peace.

We can take her soon from the hospital, she is looking now for an owner, a family, and a home. She is in Hungary, after the recovery we can manage the travel, mostly in Europe but also possible to overseas as well. Some people spend their Friday night at pubs. Others meet up at the Hungarian collection point to fill vans with tonnes of pet food to be delivered to Ukraine tomorrow. :)
Just a quick insight into how it goes: pleading, getting, organising deliveries to the collection point, storing, keeping pests away, sorting, organising volunteers for manual labour, loading, generating customs papers, fuel vans, driving hundreds of miles, crossing the border, driving in a war struck country to the drop off point, loading off, handing over, driving, border, clean the vans, return the rental, monitoring rental deposit.
And that's just our bit of the process, our Ukrainian partner takes it over and organises deliveries according to demands to the war zones.

It all starts with a donation and ends with pets being saved from starvation.

She is Myra, we rescued her 2 weeks ago from Ukraine. Myra's name is from the Ukrainian word Peace = Myr

She was probably bite by another dog and got serious head (brain) injury. Myra can't walk normally, she's head is always turned to left and also she had epileptic seizure once at least so far 😩

Joánovits Andrea probably the best puppy foster in the world taking care of little Myra, she can't be in a better place than by Andrea.

Right now we are waiting for the MRI results and hoping that there is a good treatment for her.

We hope that we can come back with better news soon.

We can't take dogs to Hungary but if there is a foreigner organization which can take the dogs, we can bring them here, do the quarantine then send to them for a new life.

Billy news ❤️

Today we went together with Nicole Arndt Állatmentő to the vet clinic for X-Ray and Ultrasound to see how bad is the heartworm infection. Luckily the result was negative ❤️

After this diagnosis we asked PCR test from Billy's blood to see if we are dealing with heartworm or skin worm (sometimes rapid test get positive result for skin worms as well).

Now we are waiting for the PCR test result.

If is heartworm then Billy needs Doxiciklin treatment if is skin worm then the risk is much lower and other treatment.

From now Nicole Arndt Állatmentő will takes care of Billy, because he feel much better with Nicole's husky gang and he is in the best hands ❤️

Woody Babar, this handsome 3 year old, neutered healthy husky boy is looking for his forever home.

🔹is a rescue of our foundation
🔹is a happy, very kind and very very curious dog
🔹loves being close to the family
🔹is a bit shy, needs some minutes to get to know people
🔹likes children
🔹loves hiking, and doesn’t need much exercise (~ 2 hours/a day)
🔹is lazy during daytime, lying in the room/garden for hours
🔹doesn’t tend to escape, if there’s a human or dog companion with him
🔹is scared of the city sounds, but sleeps calmly during storms, doesn’t mind the rain, loves the cold, the wind and the snow
🔹is super excited and happy in the car
🔹likes water: he follows us to the water when we go swimming
🔹hunts smaller animals (cats, hens, rabbits)
🔹is very quiet, never howls, rarely barks at play
🔹has food intolerance, he can digest rabbit and lamb
🔹understands leash, but pulls when super happy, excited or spots a bird/dog
🔹had separation anxiety, but we worked on it, now he can be left up to 4 hours alone, and! with another calm dog, he can stay calm for a bit longer
🔹loves to play with squeaky balls, doesn’t destroy anything at home, only plays with his toys
🔹gets excited and vocal around other dogs, he is very interested in them, but habitable: it only takes 10-20 minutes for him with a well-socialized/calm dog
🔹checks on the family at least once every night
🔹is absolutely odorless, his fur always smells wonderful!

Billy news ❤️
Billy was so far in our future animal hospital which is also a donation collection point in Budapest. Unfortunately the safe kennels are still under construction, so Billy escaped from the quarantine room and was cut several electric cables.
He is so social, can't be alone. We are not in the building and to leave him there is dangerous while eating electric cables.
Luckily Nicole from Paradise of Dogs Tierschutzhof came to our help and she said she will take care of Billy and she will be his companion, so Billy won't be alone ❤️

Tomorrow we are going back to Nicole and we will bring Billy to X-Ray and Ultrasound inspection to see how badly is he infected with heartworms and in which phase he's disease is. Please pray for Billy to get good news on the inspection tomorrow. ❤️

Bad news about Billy from Ukraine 😪

We were at the veterinary and the rapid test for heartworm became extremely fast positive 😢

We ordered full-scale lab, on Thursday we have appointment for X-Ray and heart ultrasound. We will see if we need surgery which is extremely difficult and expensive or we need long medical treatment which is also expensive. Anyway we are doing our best to provide the best for Billy and also we discuss the possibilities with the potential receiving organization from abroad.

Moreover he has dermatitis and he got lot of flea and ticks. He got already Imizol in Ukrain, so he's condition is better in terms of babesiosis.

Pray for Billy, he needs that. ❤️

Update from Chop (Чоп) Ukraine.
As a member organization of the Association of Hungarian Animal Rescue Organizations we are taking part of the mission to deliver donations to Ukraine animal shelters and animals in needs every week.

In the meantime we are delivering food for the stray dogs and cats in Чоп. However, this village is not in the war zone, is close to the Hungarian border, but there are many stray animals, some of them in very bad condition.

We delivered this weekend pet food again which our helpful partners have already started to provide for the poor souls on the streets of Chop.

There was Billy the white dog as well who was injured and in very bad shape as well. In this point we need to emphasize that the animal welfare in Hungary is also in very bad shape, we have many stray dogs and cats on the streets of Hungary which needs help, so we are not in the position to bring more animals to Hungary for long term period. On the other hand if any organization abroad can provide places and new homes for those poor souls, we are in position to bring them out and manage somehow the transport to the destination country after proper quarantine and healing.

We took Billy with us and we started to heal his body and soul. As soon as he is strong enough, we will transport him to a partner organization abroad to the direction of his new life.

As we already emphasize our foundation is ready to continue the mission by delivering donations to Ukraine and also to support the stray animals of Чоп.

We always deliver to Барбос and they ship further to the war zone in Ukraine. This is very expensive job, trucks, shipping deliveries are expensive to the war zone. Please support them, they are doing amazing job!

It has been more than a month since the war knocked on our door...
From the beginning of the war, we have been working hard every day to provide pet food for those in need all over Ukraine!💛💙 We have already sent pet food to Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Zhytomyr, Mykolayiv, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Slovyansk, Dnipro, Pokrov and other cities!🐾 Thousands of animals are not hungry anymore! There were more than 60 tonnes sent already, but there are a lot of cities and shelters that still need help!🙏

We helped more than 150 animals from hot points to find the way out (adoption abroad, foster families in Ukraine and abroad, and permanent places in shelter for evacuated ones), and that's not the end. We are building new kennels for the new ones and also doing our usual "work" here in Uzhgorod (rescued animals, taking care of our 190 animals, veterinary help for the injured, etc.).
