Can you help us to prevent more suffering by sponsoring a sterilization? ❤️‍🩹

This Thursday we will be holding our first spay and neuter event of this year with vet Ketut and his team.

For this important day we have already pre registered a total of 35 animals whose lives will improve to the better.

Some of them are mama’s who had already countless of litters. Others are about to come to an age to be able to be a mama. Strays with no home or pets owned by low income local families, all of them are in urgent need to be fixed to prevent further unwanted births, the spread of sicknesses and the resulting suffering.

The sterilizations of a total of 35 animals is the prevention of over 2.5 Million unwanted puppies and kittens in just 6 years. ‼️

This would have a huge positive impact for the animal population here on the island and we hope that with your help we can make this happen.

Each sterilization will hereby cost us 25 USD and we are now in urgent need of sponsors to cover the 35 surgeries all of which amount to a total of USD 875,-.

Will you be able to help us help them?

The more people who can help us, the more we can sterilize. Please if you can, sponsor one or two, they have no one else to rely on but us.

To donate please click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘sterilization’ on your transfer.

From them all and us, thank you so much for your support. 🙏🏻

💗 Adopt Tessa 💗

Only mid December this sweet little girl who we named Tessa was left alone right outside our gate in the harsh rainy season.

She was wet, cold and hungry but otherwise in good health when she was placed at our door step on purpose.

Lovingly nurtured by our wonderful team, she then became quickly ready to find her forever family.

Tessa is a five months young Bali Dog Mix who will stay medium sized. She is dewormed and vaccinated upon adoption and will soon to be spayed through our program.

She is totally adorable, super cuddly, friendly and joyful with no trauma, just like a puppy should be. She will make a perfect addition to a family with children or with other dogs.

Welcome this bundle of love into your life and send us or our partner page a direct message if you would like to adopt Tessa. ✨

Protect your dog from tick-borne diseases ‼️

Ticks are unfortunately very common in Bali and we are seeing more and more cases of dogs covered in them especially now during raining season.

Those ticks can carry the dangerous diseases Babesia and Ehrlichia, a blood infection which causes weight loss, weakness, depression, high fever, anemia, paralysis, blindness, organ failure and therefore even death. Such serious consequences are noticeable and more importantly, easy to prevent.

Today we met Toki whose owners reached out to us for help. As we looked closer through his long fur we saw that he was infested with ticks and with his eyes cloudy it didn’t take long for us to realize that he is suffering from blood parasites.

We are helping Toki with a dose of Bravecto that will help to kill the ticks and prevent more from biting before new transmissions can occur. They will now quickly dry up, die and therefore fall off. A 30 day course of antibiotics will treat the blood parasite infection.

Medication such as Bravecto kills ticks rapidly after 4 hours, and over its entire 12 week period of efficacy, it achieves an almost complete killing effect within 12 hours after tick infestation. In addition we always encourage owners to check the dogs, especially the inside of the ears, the folds of the legs and between toes and paw pads and remove as many ticks possible by hand.

It is important to understand that dogs will continue to be a carrier of the disease once they recover with antibiotics, therefore prevention of ticks will need to become a priority.

We treat many dogs each month not only for mange but also for fleas and ticks with Bravecto as this medication has a long term effect.

Please keep the donations for it coming for us to be able to purchase it here in Bali to always have it available when it’s needed. Thank you. 🙏🏻

💜 Forever loved 💜

What better way to start into the year 2025 than with the happy news that our beautiful little girl Molly found her forever home with Vita and Aleks.

After visiting our Safe House with the intention to adopt, it was Molly who they bonded with the most.

Before the old year ended, she then went into a two weeks trial staycation with them that now has officially turned into an adoption.

Our hearts couldn’t be more full. Not only because Molly has been waiting for eight months to find her forever home, but we are also so very grateful to Vita and Aleks for choosing to not shop but adopt.

Be safe, be happy Molly. Always!

We have many more wonderful rescued dogs waiting to be adopted into loving families. Please visit our Safe House to meet them or message our partner page for further inquiries. ✨

TVT cancer is taking over 💔

This little boy is Moli. With just 1.5 years of age he is one of the most severe cases in TVT we have ever seen in such young dogs.

Not yet being neutered, he contracted this sexual transmitted disease trough direct skin-to-skin contact while mating. Passed around the population of unsterilized dogs it spreads quickly, endangering more and more dogs daily.

Unfortunately it left him completely riddled in Transmissible Venereal Tumors (TVT) that grew from the inside of his ge****ls through his nose, gums and to the entirety of his body. Left untreated, the cancer would metastasize further and eventually taking his life.

Treating TVT is efficient but it comes with significant costs that are out of reach for most local dog owners here in Bali. Depending on the size of the tumor, around 4-15 (sometimes even more) chemotherapies are required to heal them and sterilization to prevent reinfection.

Moli is alongside seven other dogs registered for our first Health Day of the year 2025 this Thursday to receive life-saving treatment with vet Ketut. But we are urgently in need of funding to be able to cure them all.

One chemotherapy per dog costs us USD 25,-. The estimated costs for Moli as well as the other seven dogs that we are currently treating, reaching a minimum of USD 500,-.

Will you be able to help us help them?

Please, if you can, sponsor one or two dogs chemotherapy costs, they have no one else to rely on but us. To donate click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘TVT chemo’ on your transfer.

Thank you so much for your support. 🙏🏻

✨ Happy New Year ✨

As 2024 is coming to an end, we would like to send out a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU on behalf of all the animals we could help this year.

We simply don’t find enough words to express our gratitude and appreciation to all of you our wonderful supporters, who continued to be by our side.

Your love and kindness have enabled the healing of hundreds of dogs and cats in our direct care, in the streets and in homes of the local communities here in Bali. 🙏🏻

While we have lost some beautiful souls on the way who will forever be in our hearts, we also have saved more animals than ever before.

This is what we have achieved TOGETHER with you:

✨ over 250 animals fed each month with over 37.500kg worth of food this year
✨ 380 Bravecto/Simparica provided to treat skin conditions in 1.520 dogs
✨ 1.200 deworming tablets given plus other medications
✨755 dogs and cats spayed and neutered through our program
✨606 rabies and 138 complete vaccinations provided during our sterilization events
✨95 dogs received chemotherapy to free them from TVT cancer
✨ Vet treatments enabled for stray animals or owned pets by low income families nearly on a daily basis. For many those were life-saving
✨ Education given to countless of pet owners about animals needs and rights

None of this could have been possible without YOU. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for this incredible year of making a real difference for Bali’s animals.

We are so very excited for 2025 with you to continue to relieve suffering and inspire compassion.

Have a very happy and harmonious New Year. Much love from the entire Little Steps Matter Family. ♥️

Can you imagine what it must feel like to be her? 💔

All over Bali, almost on every corner of every street, are dogs that look just like her.

They are frail, hairless, with patches of deep crust on top of their tortured skin and painful wounds from the constant itching.

Dogs with contagious chronic mange are often in poor general condition and immune suppression from malnutrition can cause this type of disease.

Most of them appear to be beyond hope and without medical help they do suffer quietly and immensely.

Just like Mimi did. She is only around 3 years old and most likely in this state for most of her short life. The collar that is hanging of her neck is telling us that she must have been in the comfort of a home at one point but that the fear of the relatively high vet costs pushed her owners to dump her in the street instead. A sad reality for a lot of dogs here in Bali.

Luckily for her she landed into Ibu Wisnus street who has a kind heart for animals. She allowed her refuge and keeps her alive with left over foods.

We helped Mimi. Deworming, one single dose of Bravecto combined with regular additional nutritious food provided by us will help her heal over the next few weeks. And as the story progresses, more updates will come about her recovery and our efforts to make her life better and healthier.

She is only one out of many dogs we have treated for mange with Bravecto in this week alone. But there are always more needing our help.

Please, if you are planning to visit Bali and have some spare room in your luggage, fill it with a few boxes of skin medication such as Bravecto or Simparica and help us to relieve more suffering.

If you would like to help them from far, please consider to make a donation today for us to purchase the medicine here. For only USD 25 we can provide life-saving treatment for up to 4 dogs.

To donate please click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘skin meds’ on your transfer.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your support. 🙏🏻

Stalled labor because of oversized puppies 💔
Donations needed for Milie’s life-saving emergency caesarean section surgery

This is Millie. With only 8 months of age she was in heat for the first time and got pregnant by a much bigger male dog while she must have been roaming in front of her house.

After she had delivered one lifeless puppy naturally, she went into a stalled labor despite constantly straining. Only green discharge came from her v***a. Once her owners realized that Millie was suffering complications, they called us for urgent help.

We immediately rushed her to as emergency where several tests and an ultrasound were performed that sadly confirmed what we already suspected. One further lifeless puppy remained in her womb that couldn’t pass through the birth canal because it was too big.

An emergency c-section was needed as her dead baby started to decompose which causes a dangerous and poisonous infection that untreated would have been fatal and taken Millies life.

While already being under sedative, she was immediately spayed in the same surgery to prevent her from another heartbreak and suffering in the future.

Post-op Millie is stable and recovering in this very moment. She will have to stay hospitalized for after care and observation before being able to return home.

Please send her your love and if you can, help us to be there for her and support her life-saving surgery and care costs at the vet clinic with a donation.

To donate please click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button.

In Millie’s name and ours, thank you so much for your support. We wouldn’t be able to help her without you. 🙏🏻

🌟 Adopt Ria and Rio🌟

Our precious little siblings are ready to find their forever homes here in Bali.

Only a few weeks ago we pulled them out of the sewer that runs right behind our Safe House. They were then very lovingly nurtured by our wonderful team.

As chihuahua mixes they are expected to stay small in size. With around 3 months of age, they are dewormed and vaccinated upon adoption. Their sterilization will be funded through our program once they are old enough.

Both, Ria and Rio are totally adorable, friendly, cuddly, playful and joyful, just like pups should be.

As a bonded pair they are ideally adopted together, or else they are best to go into homes with other pets and children.

Watch their story highlight to learn more about their heartwarming journey.

Welcome these two cute bundles of love into your life and direct message us or our partner page if you would like to adopt Ria and/or Rio. ❤️

Mandatory: no cage, no chain, no free roaming, house with fully fenced garden.

Can you help us help Yellow? ❤️‍🩹

This 4 year old boy is Yellow whose family reached out to us for help for him.

He was suffering from severe pain in one of his front legs that showed a wound so huge and deep that it exposed his bones.

According to his owner, Yellow’s leg was very swollen only a few days ago until it formed an abscess that he licked and chewed on.

He must have been in unimaginable pain so that we immediately offered to take Yellow to the clinic. Here he had to be given a sedative in order for the vets to properly clean and treat the wound. While already being under he was neutered and vaccinated at the same time.

Yellow is now on strong painkillers and antibiotics to prevent further infections on his wound. He stays hospitalized for treatment and daily bandage changes until he stabilized enough to return home to his family where our team will continue to help him heal to a full recovery.

Please, can we now kindly ask you to send this sweet boy love and healing and if you can, support his medical bill with a donation. At this moment his costs are estimated to amount to USD 300,-.

To donate please click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘Yellow’ on your transfer.

In Yellow’s, his owners name and ours, thank you so much. It’s only together that we are able to help them. 🙏🏻

Spay and Neuter saves lives ❤️‍🩹

Yesterday we were holding our last spay and neuter event of this year 2024 in collaboration with vet Ketut and his assistant vet Cendy.

With your help we successfully sterilized a total of 22 animals 🙌🏻

Female Dogs: 12
Male Dogs: 4
Female Cats: 5

We furthermore provided 4 complete and 22 rabies vaccinations.

At this moment we are still counting this year’s numbers all together, but we can already say that you have contributed to make a significant impact in the lives of so many dogs and cats in 2024. And for that we are eternally grateful.

Thank you for your ongoing support - it keeps us going.

Can you help us to prevent more suffering by sponsoring a sterilization? ❤️‍🩹

This Thursday we will be holding our last spay and neuter event of this year.

For this most important day we have pre registered a total of 19 animals over the past two weeks whose lives will change forever.

Some of them are mama’s who had already several litters, others are about to come to an age to be able to be a mama. All of them are in urgent need to be sterilized to prevent further uncontrolled births and the resulting suffering.

As in every event we will also provide vaccinations for rabies and other viruses and basic medical treatments if needed.

Each sterilization in this event will hereby cost us 25 USD. We are now in urgent need of sponsors to cover the 19 surgeries all of which amount to a total of USD 475,-.

Will you be able to help us help them?

Our biggest wish this year and every year is to sterilize as many animals as we can to put a stop to suffering. The more people who can support us, the more lives we can save together.

Please make a real sustainable difference and sponsor one or two animals who have no one else to rely on but us. To donate click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘sterilization’ on your transfer.

From them all and us, thank you so much for your support. 🙏🏻

❤️ Thank you ❤️

We had a wonderful visit in the Safe House by Lauren who we were very looking forward to meet.

It was a lovely get together filled with talks about animal welfare, laughter and joy. And to witness how easily and quickly all of our rescues picked up on her energy and how much they liked to be hugged and cuddled with was simply beautiful.

Besides love, Lauren also donated much needed supplies to support our good cause for the animals here in Bali.

Thank you so much. It’s been an absolute pleasure to meet you and we know you will go home with some lovely memories of Bali’s amazing Heritage Dog.

We are beyond grateful to be welcoming all of you great dog lovers from around the world. Your time, love and generosity is what is allowing us to continue our mission in helping animals in need.

Spread the word... if you are coming to Bali, planning to visit us and have a little spare room in your luggage, we are always in need of skin medication such as Bravecto, dewormer, toys, treats, towels, blankets, collars and leashes. 🙏🏻

Another puppy dumped 💔

This poor little girl was left alone right outside our gate in this harsh rainy season.

Wet, cold and hungry we firstly thought she might got spooked during the storm of the night and lost her way home, but every attempt to locate an owner failed which then sadly made us assume that she was placed at our door step on purpose.

What her previous family thought she has done to deserve to be abandoned we will never know. But what we do know is that she is now safe and will never have to suffer ever again, that we promise.

Despite being full to the brim, she is secured in isolation in the Safe House receiving the love and care she is yearning for. She is fed, warm and dry and she already had a general health check up from the vet.

This beautiful Bali girl needs a name and donations that will help to fund her vaccinations, sterilization and care with us until she is ready for a loving forever home.

Please help us to show her that someone’s trash can become someone else’s treasure.

To donate click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button. From her and us, thank you so much. 🙏🏻

Milly has cancer 💔
Can you help us heal her?

This beautiful girl is Milly and she is most likely the most severe case we have ever seen in our TVT history.

Despite being already sterilized she is riddled in Transmissible Venereal Tumors (TVT) that began to grow from the inside of her ge****ls until it metastasized through her nose, gums and eye to the entirety of her body.

TVT, commonly known as a sexual transmitted disease, is highly contagious in dogs. Cancerous cells transfer through direct skin-to-skin contact while mating, but also through licking and sniffing. Left untreated, the cancer metastasize and can take a life.

Thankfully treatment for TVT in dogs is very efficient, but it is long and therefore pricey.

In our previous health day we have already given the first chemotherapy to Milly and are pleased to see that she is responding well to the treatment only a week later (images 12-15). She will require approximately 10 sessions in total to free her from cancer entirely.

TVT is taking over and with more reports coming in nearly daily of dogs suffering from it, we need to dedicate days in which we can focus on doing everything possible to provide chemotherapy for as many as possible.

Therefore we have registered Milly alongside nine other dogs for tomorrow Thursday, to receive their life-saving treatment for their TVT with vet Ketut. But in are urgently in need of funding to be able to cure them all.

One chemotherapy per dog costs us USD 25,-. The estimated costs for Milly as well as the nine other dogs that we are currently treating, reaching a minimum of USD 500,-.

Will you be able to help us help them?

Please, if you can, sponsor one or two dogs chemotherapy costs, they have no one else to rely on but us. To donate click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘TVT chemo’ on your transfer.

The transformation of Molly ❤️‍🩹

Only end of October we were approached during our feeding tour by a kind young man named Agi who asked us for help for his dog.

With just a year of age, little Molly already suffered from a skin condition so severe that her almost hairless body was covered in infected and cracked open wounds from the intense itching.

Agi tried to cure Molly on his own with a local medicine, but with no effect. Luckily he then found us.

We provided deworming and the needed medication that effectively treated her mange as well as a secondary fungal infection. Medicated shampoo soothed her skin topically and regular additional nutritious food fastened her recovery. She was also spayed through our program.

Just six weeks later Molly has fully healed. She not only made a beautiful physical transformation, but now that she is healthy again she also became happier in her personality.

We want to take this opportunity to thank you, our wonderful Patrons, for support. It is with your monthly sponsorship that we are able to help dogs just like Molly with food- and medical relief.

Please continue to join us on Patreon and be part of the change we can bring to many more animals in need.

To sponsor, please click the link in our bio and find a suitable tier you would like to support with. 🙏🏻
