TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY - Loli

Back in September we discovered her during our pre spay and neuter registration tour. She caught our attention while roaming in the street.

Loli was completely ravaged by mange. Her skin was red raw, crusted and tortured that almost not a single hair was left on her body. She appeared to be beyond hope.

But thankfully we knew that this painful and common disease is easily treated with effective but costly medication.

We helped Jessy and gave her dewormer for internal parasites and Bravecto to heal her from the severe skin condition. We then had her vaccinated, spayed and treated with chemotherapy for the TVT cancer she battled with.

Judging by her bright smile today, Loli must be so very happy too about her triumphant comeback. 😍

During the last two months we have helped her heal we learned that she is a street dog but accepted by the people of the community she surrounds herself with. We will continue to look out for her and ensure that her health and well being are maintained throughout her future.

Your support has made this wonderful transformation for Loli possible.

With your donation you allow us to improve the lives of dogs like her. Please keep helping us heal many more who are still out there suffering.

USD 5 helps to deworm one dog.
USD 10 helps to feed one dog for one week.
USD 25 helps to treat mange in up to four dogs.
USD 50 helps to vaccinate + sterilize one dog.

💖 Adopt Mona 💖

Our beautiful Bali girl Mona is ready to find her forever home.

Previously being a street dog we cared for daily during our feeding tours, we rescued her back in July after she was run over by a vehicle that left her severely injured.

After spending time at the vet clinic for a needed FHO surgery, she then moved in with us.

In our Safe House she was very lovingly nurtured back to full health by our wonderful team over the past couple of months.

Mona is a medium sized Bali Dog and with only 11 months of age still very young. Upon adoption she is dewormed, flea and tick treated, vaccinated and spayed.

She is totally adorable, gentle, super friendly and joyful. Being the little cuddle bug that she is, Mona would make a wonderful addition to everyone who seeks a new best friend in life.

In our care she socialized well with our other rescued dogs young and old. She was trained basic commands and walks very well on leash but also off leash.

Don’t go past those cutest little ears and welcome this bundle of love into your life.

If you would like to meet Mona in our Safe House, drop us a message or else get in touch with our partner page for further inquiries. ✨

More sterilizations done ✅

Yesterday we were holding another sterilization event in collaboration with vet Ketut and his assistant vet Cendy .

A total of 18 animals were successfully sterilized:

Female Dogs: 11
Male Dogs: 2
Female Cats: 4
Male Cats: 1

We furthermore provided 5 complete and 12 rabies vaccinations. Also 9 dogs received another session of chemotherapy for their life threatening and highly contagious TVT cancer.

This event was once again the prevention of thousands of lives and made another huge impact in improving animal welfare and in slowing down the flow of unwanted puppies and kittens.

We want to thank all of you for helping us to make this day possible for the animals that were in urgent need to be sterilized.

Please continue to be part of our mission and contribute to a life saving cause for Bali‘s animals.

Therefore click on the link in our bio or sign up on our sterilization tier on Patreon for monthly sponsorship. 🙏🏻

Can you help us to prevent more suffering by sponsoring a sterilization? ❤️‍🩹

This Thursday we will be holding our monthly spay and neuter event with vet Ketut.

For this important day we have pre registered 14 animals over the past two weeks who will have the chance of a better life.

Some of them are mama’s who had already countless of litters, others are about to come to an age to be able to be a mama. All of them are in urgent need to be sterilized to prevent further unwanted births and the resulting suffering.

As in every event we will also provide vaccinations for rabies and other viruses and 10 dogs are scheduled to receive another round of chemotherapy for TVT cancer.

Each sterilization as well as each cancer treatment will hereby cost us 25 USD. We are now in urgent need of sponsors to cover the 14 surgeries as well as the 10 chemotherapy’s all of which amount to a total of USD 600,-.

Will you be able to help us help them?

Our biggest wish is to sterilize as many animals as we can to put a stop to suffering. The more people who can support us, the more lives we can save together.

Please make a real sustainable difference and sponsor one or two animals who have no one else to rely on but us. To donate click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button and note ‘sterilization’ on your transfer.

From them all and us, thank you so much for your support. 🙏🏻

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY - Poleng

We found Poleng roaming the street while we were out registering dogs for our sterilization event.

Like many other dogs in Bali he suffered from mange in a very advanced stage. His skin was raw and hurting and his hair fell out nearly completely from the intense itch caused by parasitic mites.

We tried to locate an owner but were not successful. The people in the neighborhood told us that he was a stray with no home.

Fortunately, with your generous support through Patreon, we were able to help him and that day he became a loved member of our feeding tour.

Only two months of nutritious food, deworming and one dose of Bravecto later, Poleng made a wonderful recovery.

Now that he is healthy and despite being a stray, he is accepted by the community he is living in. Poleng even found himself kind people who allow him inside their house.

Your donation helped to change his life. We are so incredibly grateful that with your monthly sponsorship, we could not only help Poleng with food and medical relief, but we also enabled him a safer future.

Please continue to join us on Patreon and be part of our life-saving mission for Bali’s animals.

❤️‍🩹 Vulnerable little dog family needs help with vet costs ❤️‍🩹

With only ten months of age Meli is still just a puppy herself when she became a mama to her first litter. Birthing her six babies and giving her all to them, left Meli utterly exhausted.

On top of it all she then developed mange because of immune suppression that sadly transmitted to her pups who were all in a poor general condition.

Thankfully for them their owners realized that the little family struggled to stay alive and called for our help.

When we arrived in their home we were gratefully received not only by Ibu Made and her children, but also by mama Meli who immediately knew that we came to her aid.

With timing being critical in animal rescue, especially when it comes to puppies as the first few weeks of a puppy’s life are crucial to their survival, we quickly decided to transfer the entire vulnerable little family to the vet for an expert opinion on their condition.

At the clinic it was discovered that all of them suffer from scabies and a secondary bacterial skin infection. They are anemic and malnourished. The gunky eyes are caused by worm infestation and thankfully as we prayed for, tests ruled out a distemper as well as parvo virus outbreak.

Now hospitalized at the clinic, mama Meli can focus on nurturing her babies while being provided with 24/7 care they are currently requiring. The weakest puppy who struggled the most, received a catheter access for fluids.

Once they all have stabilized we wish to return them home to the people who love them but who are just in need of education and extra support to care for them.

Please, can we kindly ask to send mama and her babies your love and if you can, donate towards their vet bill, medications, vaccinations and sterilization later on once they are old enough.

To donate please click the link in our bio or see our donate highlight button.

In Meli’s and her puppies name and ours, thank you so much. We wouldn’t be able to help them without you. 🙏🏻

🙏🏻 SPONSOR NEEDED FOR SILA 🙏🏻

Back in August we rescued beautiful Sila who was caught in a cruel snare wire trap that is commonly used by dog meat traders here in Bali.

That it wrapped tightly around one of her legs, left her with a very severe injury, but it also enabled her to escape her predators.

While she has physical healed well since, she is facing many emotional challenges.

Because of the unimaginable suffering our poor girl had to endure before finding us, she lost faith and trust in humans fully. Understandably it is not her fault she has this trauma. It’s the people who inflicted this immense cruelty on her.

As you may have seen in our story updates about Sila, we are working tirelessly to make her feel safe, comfortable and loved in our care, also with the help and expertise of dog behaviorists, but as we expected the progress is slow.

We understand that we cannot rush her in her recovery. All we can do is give her the space and time that she needs to be able to feel safe enough to open up to us.

And as a dog meat survivor this is incredibly tough. She may never will. It is all on her terms. What is important to us is that she knows that we will never hurt her nor ever give up on her.

In this moment of her rehabilitation we are now looking for sponsors who can help us to provide Sila this safe and caring life in our Safe House alongside the other rescues who are essential in her healing.

We have opened her sponsorship tier in Patreon. We are in need of 4 sponsors who can share in her journey and help to maintain her well being. In return you will receive updates of her through exclusive content.

To sponsor Sila, please click the link in our bio and find her tier in Patreon. We can only do it with your support.

See where your help is going ❤️‍🩹

This is Miki. She is one of many stray dogs we care for in the street.

While we registered animals for our sterilization event back in 2022, we discovered her living on an empty piece of land at the end of a quiet gang.

Here she had formed a pack with other strays who were born into the wild just like her.

Not much about her past is known to us. All we do know is that she was very timid at first and that we would like to say that over time we were able to build a trusting bond to her.

Every morning she is awaiting our arrival and we are greeted with an enthusiastic dance and the most lovely smile there ever was. 🥹

Alongside the other dogs in her pack she is being fed daily, regularly medicated for worms and parasites and she was vaccinated and sterilized through our program. Because of their healthy appearance and friendly approach, all of them are safe and accepted by the people of the community they are living in.

Our commitment to the animals we care for is for life and we are eternally grateful that with you by our side we are able to keep our promise to Miki and the others.

Your support, whether it is a one time donation or a monthly sponsorship through Patreon, makes a real and lasting difference in the lives of the most vulnerable stray dogs in Bali.

Help us, and you will be helping to give hope and a future that otherwise couldn’t be. 🫶🏻

🆘 New Rescue 🆘

Not long ago Snowa was a stray but luckily for him, he somehow found his way into Sindy’s house who has a kind heart for animals and allowed him refuge.

By looking at him you could see the hardship he had been through as a vulnerable unwanted stray kitten. He was frail, skinny and one of his eyes popped out with the eyelid badly infected and torn.

He must have been in terrible pain that sadly was ignored for a long time. He needed urgent vital care and thankfully for him Sindy called for our help immediately.

We rushed Snowa to the clinic where he was diagnosed with feline chlamydial conjunctivitis, which is a bacterial infection of the conjunctiva, the pink lining of the eyelids and transparent covering of the eyeball.

While this infection is well treatable with antibiotics, the condition of Snowa’s eye has advanced to such an extent that the cornea broke already which unfortunately is irreversible.

At this moment he is hospitalized and given antibiotics and pain medication. As soon as his condition is stabilized, he will be scheduled for the eye amputation.

Please can we kindly ask, to send this brave little boy your love and prayers and if you can, support his life-saving care with a donation. The costs for his surgery, hospitalization, medication, vaccinations and sterilization are estimated to amount to USD 350,-.

We need you. This beautiful kitten needs you. Thank you. 🙏🏻

Ayu returned home 🤍

Finally brave Ayu was allowed to leave the clinic post intensive treatment and hospitalization care.

The horrific superficial wounds on her back leg that were caused by a reckless driver who had no intention to brake for her, are starting to heal and have less swelling.

Over the next couple of weeks Ayu will continue her recovery at home surrounded by the people who she loves.

She will require regular bandage changes and oral medication to prevent infections on the wound, all of which we will help her with.

Ayu was very happy when she realized she is back home and so were her owners and dog friends.

In the name of us and her family, we would like to thank you for making Ayu’s rescue and treatment possible.

We are forever grateful that with your support we are able to help them. 🙏🏻

Sterilize, sterilize, sterilize 🙌🏻

Yesterday we were holding another sterilization event in collaboration with Vet Ketut and his assistant vet Cendy .

11 female dogs, 2 male dogs, 7 female cats and 1 male cat were successfully spayed and neutered.

We furthermore provided 17 rabies vaccinations. Also 6 dogs received chemotherapy for their life threatening and highly contagious TVT cancer.

Every single sterilization surgery remains to be the most compassionate method of controlling the population but also to improve animal welfare here in Bali.

We are so very grateful to ALL OF YOU who support our spay and neuter program. Please continue to be part of the mission and contribute to this life saving cause for the dogs and cats here on the island.

We need your help to sterilize more animals ❤️‍🩹

Did you know that 1 female dog and her offspring can produce up to 67.000 puppies in only 6 years?

And that 1 female cat and her offspring can produce up to 420.000 kittens in just 7 years?

To break this birth cycle and prevent more animals from suffering, we need to keep on sterilizing as many as we can. And we hope that with your help we can. 🙏🏻

Tomorrow we are holding another health day in which we pre registered 21 dogs and cats to be sterilized and vaccinated.

Another 8 dogs are scheduled to receive treatment for their highly contagious and life threatening TVT cancer.

Each sterilization as well as each chemotherapy will hereby cost us 25 USD. We are now in urgent need of sponsors to cover the 21 surgeries as well as the 8 chemotherapy’s all of which amount to a total of USD 725.

Will you be able to help us help them?

The importance of sterilization

Every day in Bali, puppies are born into this world, only to struggle to stay alive.

Most of these vulnerable babies spend their lives battling hunger, sickness, cruelty or abandonment. The ones who do survive and make it to adulthood most likely experience the same misery as their mama’s.

Spay and neutering remains the most compassionate method in the prevention of unwanted births and the resulting suffering here in Bali.

In preparation for our next upcoming mass sterilization event this month, Gembul is one of the mama dogs we have registered to be spayed.

She is only four years old and already has her fourth litter of puppies. With her immune system decreasing ever since she gave birth, she developed mange that sadly transmitted to her babies.

We will support with additional feeding, have now already provided three rounds of deworming to free them from internal parasites, followed by skin treatment to cure their mange.

Without our intervention, more and more sick puppies would be born into a home that is not equipped to care for them.

While Gembul and her babies are considered the lucky ones who have owners, many are not. Countless dogs are being dumped in the streets, local markets, beaches and empty fields where they are susceptible to illness, injuries and the dog meat trade just to name a few. They are left to fend for themselves, producing litter after litter of puppies that continue the cycle of suffering.

Together we can prevent this by humanely reducing the population through sterilization. Please be part of this most important mission.

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY - Molly ❤️‍🩹

End of August we learned about Molly when we were registering animals for our mass sterilization events.

At just two years of age this little girl contracted mange because of immune suppression after she gave birth to nine puppies, all of which unfortunately died from a virus. 🥺

Mange is one of the most common skin diseases we see in strays but also in a lot of owned dogs here in Bali. Molly was constantly scratching herself from the intense itch that her skin became inflamed and red raw and her hair fell out.

We started her healing by providing regular additional nutritious food to improve Molly’s overall condition, followed by deworming and one dose of Bravecto that gave her comfort and effectively cured her advanced mange.

During our last event she was rabies vaccinated and spayed to prevent her from suffering and another heartbreak of losing her babies.

Now, this sweet little girl transformed beautifully and judging by her bright smile she must be feeling very happy about it too. 🫶🏻

We are grateful that we meet more owners who actively asking for our help, and that with all of your support we are able to bring the needed relief to dogs like Molly.

Please consider to make a donation today to heal many more dogs with us that are still out there suffering.

USD 5 helps to deworm one dog.
USD 10 helps to feed one dog for one week.
USD 25 helps to treat mange in up to four dogs.
USD 50 helps to vaccinate + sterilize one dog.

Helping people to help their animals thanks to your support ❤️‍🩹

While we were out on our street feeding tour, we were approached by a kind young man who asked us for help for his dog.

With just a year of age, poor little Molly already suffered from a skin condition so severe that her almost hairless body was covered in infected and cracked open wounds from the intense itching.

Agi tried to cure Molly on his own with a local medicine, but with no obvious effect. Luckily he then found us.

We provided deworming, one dose of Bravecto that will effectively heal her mange over the next few weeks and medication to treat her secondary fungal infection.

To fasten her recovery, we also handed over medicated shampoo that will sooth her skin topically.

Once Molly has fully recovered we will vaccinate and spay her for a better and healthier future life and we can’t wait to show you her complete transformation that you are being part of.

Helping people who care for their animals but lacking the financial recourses to afford necessary vet treatment, is something we are very grateful to be able to do.

This is exactly where your donation goes.

Please continue to support us with a onetime donation through the link in our bio or join us on Patreon for a monthly sponsorship that brings help to dogs just like Molly, who are still out there suffering from the same curable condition.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being by our side to make this world a better place. 🙏🏻

Children are the future 🫶🏻

While we were on our street feeding tour providing food and medication to street animals, we met little Intan who showed us her dogs that included mama Mochi with her puppies.

Every day we deliver the message of animal welfare to the local communities and explaining the importance of deworming, healthy foods for dogs, sterilization etc.

But we are also always aiming especially to encourage the empathy that comes naturally to young children. They are quickly learning how the needs of their pets are similar to their own, what they need to do to take good care of their dogs and that if you raise them with kindness from the start, they will protect and love you forever.

What we always teach kids first is how to carry puppies without hurting them. It is extra important to pick them up correctly from the start. Helping a puppy have positive experiences when picked up will make the dog more trusting and approachable as an adult.

Little Intan has learned to place one arm around the front of her puppies chest and one arm around the back legs underneath the rump. By carrying them close to her chest, the pups will not be scared by how high they are off the ground and to prevent an accidental fall. Intan was also taught that picking up her puppies by the legs or by the scruff of the neck is uncomfortable and eventually hurting.

Within children lies the fate of the future of Bali Dogs. It is the generation who we hope to see grow into kind and animal loving communities that will bring sustainable change towards a brighter future for the animals. 🙏🏻

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY - Olive

This little boy caught our attention while we were going from house to house in our area of Kediri, registering animals for our sterilization event.

He had very gunky and infected eyes and like so many other dogs that we meet on the way, he also suffered from a painful skin condition.

Mange is a type of disease that is caused by parasitic mites. They dig into and through the skin, causing intense itching and hair loss.

The weight of the sicknesses that Olive carried, made this only one year old boy look a lot older than he was.

In talks with his owner we learned that a vet was called and a one time injection of Ivermectin given, but unfortunately no one explained to them that this medicine requires at least two repetitions over a regulated timeframe to bring healing.

He needed more help and we were grateful that we could provided it for him.

We started his recovery journey with deworming to free him from internal parasites first, followed by a dose of Bravecto based on his body weight to eliminate the external parasites. We also cleaned and treated his eyes.

Olive was furthermore neutered and rabies vaccinated through our program to complete his health package.

Helping dogs just like him is only possible in togetherness with you. With your kind support you allow us to bring hope and relief to the ones in need.

Please consider to make a donation today to heal many more dogs with us that are still out there suffering.

USD 5 helps to deworm one dog.
USD 10 helps to feed one dog for one week.
USD 25 helps to treat mange in up to dogs.

A HUGE THANK YOU to each and every one of our wonderful friends and supporters who came to visit us and our rescues in Bali those past couple of weeks.

The day-to-day reality of rescuing dogs is harsh, but we do this with all our hearts. To have you coming along on this journey with us, is truly humbling.

We see every one of you. You, who like, comment and share our posts. You, who are sending us supportive and encouraging messages when times are getting tough. You, who visit us giving so much love and attention to our rescues and bringing over much needed supplies. And you who support us from far.

We are so very grateful to have you all by our side. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

Much love from the entire Little Steps Matter family. 🫶🏻❤️
