Today we were visited by the lovely vet physio Niamh Ní Conchobhair Teddy Flicka and even Muley received a treatment and each have some homework to do.

I loved Niamh's approach with the horses and she encourages R+ in the exercises which is music to my ears.

Niamh is very knowledgeable having a whopping 3 degrees relating to human and equine sports physio! I don't know how she does it 🤔

Niamh will be back to us in another month or so for Flicka so if you are in our area I highly recommend booking in and I'm delighted to say being a short distance Nimah will be available to our rehab clients.

Even though we are still awaiting the new stable roof we didn't let that stop us using the hot wash. Flicka enjoyed a lovely warm bath following a very muddy roll in the field this morning.

BIODIVERSITY AT TTL 🌸🌼🪻

Mike and I are feeling really enthused to be bringing increased biodiversity into our track plan after attending a fantastic talk held today at the Tralee Bay Wetlands centre.

We learned lots about collecting local wild flower seeds and how to create a 5+ year plan with the stages we can expect. We even spotted a few plants on the way home to start documenting.

Consulting with equine herb specialists to find our happy medium to support bees and ponies, it is our aim to share our journey so if you're interested please check back for blogs and updates over the coming months.

Thanks Una for a fantastic talk today, so much passion and enthusiasm for seeds we learned so much!

Flicka sporting her new Cloud boots from Hoof Boots Ireland keeping those toes extra comfy while she adjusts to the new surface.

We are awaiting our limestone dust topping which will be much more comfortable. The other horses have adapted extremely fast, however Flicka has some mild pathologies we are still working through.

SPACES AVAILABLE FROM SEPTEMBER
We have a limited number of livery spaces available soon at our brand new track Livery facility.

We offer 24/7 365 freedom for horses on our surfaced and unsurfaced tracks and subject to weather our turnout areas.

Hay boxes and nets are scattered around the track to encourage movement and offer an adlib supply of trickled meadow hay supplied by local farms.

Horses enjoy forage friendship and freedom.
We are finishing developments at present to include a small sand training arena, additional surfaces and shelters and our stable block which will house a hot wash and solarium, tack up area and emergency stable.

Enjoy scenic local hacking on quiet roads and miles of forestry. We are only 30mins away from beach rides and less than an hour from competitions and XC courses.

Our livery packages include options for ridden, non-ridden, retirement and rehabilitation.

Here at TTL did you know we can help you with barefoot transitioning and rehab for your horse.?

As part of our rehab livery package we offer free hoof boot fitting, hire and a range of tests for your horse to best understand their dietary and health needs for their barefoot transition.

We also work with experienced barefoot trimmer Maria Blumenthal who visits us every 6 weeks and we can supplement with inbetween care as needed and most importantly the environment and diet to support your horse.

We have limited spaces available, please contact us for further information if you are interested in a livery package.

We have just noticed that the trees are starting to turn a shade of brown... It almost feels like Autumn!

Fencing is in for our... ARENA 🤩🤩🤩

We weren't originally planning on one but once the track was planned around the outside it made the most sense to make use of the space.

It's 25mx22m however but plenty big enough for agility training and the odd jump :)

Now to board it, put in the membrane and find some quality sand to fill it :)

Today we picked up a new addition to the track to help with keeping the place tidy and pulling the paddock cleaner.

I've never seen Mike so happy as he was driving this little snapper around the place 😁

We said we will need two and add a few Mario kart references around the track...paddock races 🤣 zoom zoom!

"Stabling is not just detrimental to mental health"

A study took place that shows stabled horses are more stressed and change their behaviours.

"The findings indicate that relocation to individual stabling is an intense stressor for horses, compromising both health and welfare"

I noticed an instant change in my horses when they began to live on my track 6 years ago. I'm just delighted we can now give more horses in Ireland the chance to experience the environment they need.

Work on the livery is coming along nicely.the digger is parked where our cooling shelter is going and behind the foundations for our arena are being laid today alongside the start of the surfaced track.
