🦷Did you know that plaque and tartar buildup can lead to serious dental issues in pets? Plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, can accumulate on your pet's teeth within hours of eating.

🕐Over time, if not removed through regular brushing or professional cleanings, plaque hardens into tartar, which can lead to gum disease, tooth decay, and other dental problems.

⚠️Signs of plaque and tartar buildup include bad breath, yellow or brown discolouration on the teeth, swollen or
bleeding gums, difficulty eating or chewing, and very rarely changes in behaviour such as pawing at the mouth or reluctance to play with chew toys.
If you notice any of these signs, it's essential to schedule a dental exam with your vet promptly. Early detection and treatment of dental issues can prevent pain, discomfort, and more severe health problems down the line.

🔔Remember, prevention is key when it comes to dental health! By brushing your pet's teeth regularly, providing dental chews or toys, and scheduling annual dental check-ups, you can help prevent plaque and tartar buildup and ensure your pet's teeth and gums stay healthy for years to come. The products in the picture below are the ones we stock here in Cavan Pet Clinic!

Regular dental check-ups are as crucial for your pet's overall health as they are for yours. The below pictures are the before and after of a recent dental procedure we done here. This was a scale and polish, the dog luckily did not need any extractions!

Just like us, pets can develop dental issues like plaque buildup, tartar accumulation, and gum
disease.
By scheduling regular dental check-ups, you're taking proactive steps to ensure your
furry friend's mouth stays healthy and pain-free. During these check-ups, our veterinary team can assess your pet's teeth and gums, identify any signs of dental problems, and recommend appropriate treatments or preventive measures.

Remember, a healthy mouth equals a happier
pet! 😊🐶
Don't wait until there's a problem – book your
pet's dental check-up today! 🦷

We are due some very low temperatures over the coming days.🥶
Here are some tips to make sure your dogs stay warm and comfortable:

🔸 Invest in a cosy, well-fitting coat to help them stay warm

🔸 Check their paws for ice, snow, or salt, and consider protective boots for extra protection for sensitive paws

🔸 Create warm indoor spots for them to relax (don't be offended if they opt for the floor!)

How does your dog stay cosy in winter? 🐶

We are due some very low temperatures over the coming days🥶
Here are some tips to make sure your feline friend stays warm and comfortable this season:

🔸 Provide draft-free sleeping spots with blankets or a heated pet bed for extra warmth (though they might still choose their own favourite spot!)

🔸 Keep them indoors on chilly days (if they’re happy to stay in)

🔸 Check their water bowl regularly to make sure it’s not frozen

How do you keep your kitty comfy in winter?
