BEST PLACE TO GO WILD IN IRELAND CONTEST!!!
The Irish Times has chosen five finalists in the Best Place to Go Wild in Ireland contest. They are: Clare Island, Co Mayo; the Erris region, Co Mayo; the Beara peninsula, Cos Cork and Kerry; the Donegal coast from Killybegs to Ardara; and the Fermanagh lakelands.
Our coastal counties have performed very well in the competition. Another platform to showcase this great natural resource of ours and another reason to support Irish fishing communities. Our photo earlier today was taken from one of the finalist locations!!! Can you name it?
And not to forget our fishermen!! - photo of lobster pot from a previous fishing era!! - No need to worry about the quality of the steel!!!!

Support our fishing communities….
cook it, taste it ,love it!
* The fish/shellfish bearing our logo is fully traceable back to an Irish vessel.
* Buying this seafood helps maintain jobs on Irish vessels.
* Purchasing this seafood creates jobs in the Irish seafood processing industry as the more of our own fish we eat means more processing and distribution being carried out in Ireland.
* Consumers can have confidence in the origins
of what seafood they are eating and that it
was caught responsibly.

THE STORY SO FAR..... Responsible Irish Fish, developed and run by members, is committed to the development of responsible, sustainable fishing practices, high quality and traceability. All members sign up to a code of practice based on an environmental management scheme developed by them with BIM. This links the fishing community with wholesalers, retailers and consumers, who can be confident that fish and shellfish bearing the RIF logo is locally sustainable and responsibly caught and landed. Members implement BIM environmental management systems; crews employ various conservation measures; member vessels have achieved various third-party certifications and are actively involved in a Clean the Seas Project, bringing ashore marine debris caught during fishing. Their strong ties with international organisations, including the Marine Stewardship Council and Friends of the Sea, confirm that this is a serious organisation that cares about Irish fish stocks and Irish consumers.
