Hi Everyone!!!
I just wanted to let you all know. Pawfect Paws is moving down to Kilkenny at the end of June, our family has been offered a great opportunity down there so we’re going to go and follow our new adventure where it leads. I am now fully booked up until we go so I can’t take on anymore appointments but don’t worry there is a wonderful lady opening up her own place in the next couple of weeks and is taking appointments. All of your pooches will be in safe hands with Saoirse I will pass on her details to whoever would like them and I will share her page here also. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us and trusted me with your beautiful pooches it was a pleasure and thanks to you all I can hand in heart say I love my job and look forward to starting back up again in Kilkenny so if you know of anyone down there looking for a groomer send them this way. Some our gorgeous little floofs from this week. If your dog has a high maintenance coat that requires regular brushing and grooming why not book them in for a mini groom, consisting of a bath, deep conditioning treatment to keep those mats away, drying and deep brushing. This will keep your gorgeous fur babies fluffy and looking fresh and reduce the amount of work on the owner in between full grooms. It’s the ultimate canine version of wash, blow dry and hair treatment between colorings. ❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️

Gentle-Ben, the gorgeous Ben came to us yesterday for a deshed and a tidy up. He was a little nervous and unsure coming in, but I think it’s safe to say he was very relaxed and comfortable with us by the time he went home. While waiting for his Mom he decided to stretch out and relax and try have a quick snooze. This is exactly how we like our customers to FEEL when they are with us, how a dog looks going home is one thing but knowing a nervous dog comes to us and ends their groom so content they can fall asleep just like being at home is the best thing ever. 🐶❤️🐶

What a great message to get on a Sunday afternoon. One our gorgeous puppy clients wasnt loving getting brushed and was too busy trying to play when his mom brushed him on the floor.

Helpful tips for brushing a puppy or dog that is moving a lot and you can’t get all of their body brushed as shown in our brushing video:

1) Pop them up on a table, it can be your kitchen table, counter utility room counter or a bench out in the garage of shed if you don’t want them up on the kitchen surfaces or put a towel under them and give it a good clean after. The height will resemble being at the groomers and they’re less likely to move around wanting to play. You’ll have a better view of under their tummy’s and the insides of their legs also. Height = groom time, Floor = playtime.

2) To make it an even better experience give them lots of high value treats, something they wouldn’t usually get and save that for grooming time. If they don’t let you brush them, they don’t get the treat.

3) No punishment, EVER!!! It should be a happy experience at all times so use the treats to your advantage and build up the time slowly if they’re not keen at first.

4) Lick mats are brilliant, pop some peanut butter on them and let them lick away. Licking releases endorphins so brushing them while they lick will help them associate brushing with happiness.

5) Watch our video on brushing so you have a system that is orderly and ensures you get every inch of your dog brushed in the shortest amount of time. Of course if you are both enjoying it keep going.

6) Brushing, licking, treats and praise = a very happy puppy/dog, they will also be mentally worn out from the licking/chewing so chances are they will fall asleep after their brush, this reduces destructive behavior = happy Mom and Dad.

Hi everyone, I’ve put together a video on matting I hope it helps anyone that is worried about bringing their dog to the groomer and helps you understand why sometimes it’s kinder to remove mats by shaving. Gorgeous Gracie:
Gracie is a working sheep dog that comes for a deshed and clean up. Although she is an outdoor hard working dog her owner knows it important that her coat be kept clean as it is an important tool to keep her warm in winter and cool in summer so she can stay in tip top condition. Grooming is for all dogs, after all even the farmers get their haircut it’s only fair their hardworking companion gets the same.
