Not a great day for the bees again so catching up with some indoor jobs.

My 2024 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ gold star heather honey is running low so bottling up another few buckets to keep the shelves topped up 🍯🍯🍯

In just over 5 weeks time they'll be returning back up the mountains to start making this year's heather honey 🐝🍯

Held another beekeeping experience over the weekend 🐝🐝🐝

A great group with lots of questions and I even learned about 3D printing, but thats going to be a winter project

We got a couple of showers but we managed to see lots of bees and they were on their best behavior 🐝🐝🐝

Next one on the 21st June

Even the the spring flow is over the bees are still working hard collecting lots of pollen 🐝🐝🐝

What happens when you find a nuc of bees that you forgot about 🐝

It was too small a few weeks ago to promote to a hive but I gave it a frame of brood & bees and its exploded 🐝🐝🐝

It's all go now getting boxes out on the hives for space. They're well ahead on previous years 🐝🍯

Over on one of the rapeseed sites 🐝🐝🐝

Had a few losses here, mainly failed queen's from last year. All these had been on the heather and I forgot to flip the clearing boards around so lots of wild heather/ivy comb built 🍯🍯🍯

Scraped it all off and got a big bucket of it to use for tastings on the tours 🍯

Everything got a super, already so much nectar in the combs so the space is good. Had a few spare so they went on a few extra strong hives 🐝🐝🐝

It will be in flower in the next few days if this warm weather keeps up 😃

Last night I was invited to talk to a lovely group of ladies from the Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA) down in Tallaght about bees and honey 🐝🍯

The time flew by and I got asked lots of brilliant questions. The comments were so funny...like ‘we were expecting an auld fellow wearing a cap’ and 'you could listen to him for hours' 😃
