10/02/2024
Hey everyone,
After the last post about why I started Maow Care. I got some questions from some of you, so I thought I would use this opportunity to clarify.
😺 What is Maow Club?
A membership club where you all work on improving our cat's mental health together.
Gone are the days when people say "these weird behaviours are just cats' way". Now we know better, we do better.
We want to make sure our cats are happy and calm at home and be able to face all the events in life, e.g. house guests, going to the vet, travelling in cars, being groomed, taking medication, relaxing at home, relaxing when people are at work or going on holiday, etc.
Even if you don't feel your cat has any behaviour problem, you can still learn about cat science while having fun! You can develop a deeper understanding of your cat's needs, resolve frustrations on both sides & have a closer bond with your feline friend.
😺 Why does it matter?
With over a decade of experience working with cat lovers, I notice most of the cats are suffering from some form of anxiety at some point in their life, but often people don't notice or simply don't know how to deal with it. Also, the internet is full of noise and people can easily spend hundreds of hours browsing on the internet and not able to find reliable sources for science-based non-judgemental advice.
😺 Who is this for?
Any cat lovers!
But especially if you are dealing with one of these problems with your cat:
hiding from people
scared of going to the vet
scared of travelling in the car
difficulty to give much-needed medication
cannot groom the cat and result in matted fur
vocalisation at night
following people around, etc...
inappropriate urinating or defecating
aggression towards other cats, other animals or humans
any other "weird" behaviour
* Or you simply want to learn more about it to better understand your cat better.
** Or that you have had cats for many years but are thinking about working with cats one day? We got you covered!
😺 Who shouldn't join this club?
People who don't believe in science-based cat care information ("well, it didn't do my cat any harm...")
People who like to start drama in Facebook groups
People who believe there is only one way to care for your cat ("Every cat should be indoor only" "Cats should never be shaved ever!")
People who are judgemental
😺 How can this club help you?
You will get direct access to me, who has 13 years of experience working as a cat behavioural consultant, community support from like-minded non-judgemental cat lovers working on the same issue as you. Bi-monthly webinar to hear from some of my colleagues in the cat world internationally.
😺 What's included?
Direct access to me at your fingertips to answer your questions and implement a training plan
Monthly webinar on cat behaviour
Social events with cat lovers, e.g. coffee chat, music & wine, book club, member's interviews, etc
Private Facebook group for non-judgemental, drama-free support where members are working on their cats together
Access to our searchable resource library content on cat behaviour. We like to call it Netflix for cat people!
This membership is going to save you time! No more searching on the internet for answers to your cat questions, you have direct contact with experts and a group of devoted cat lovers who want the same thing - reliable, science-based information.
😺 How much?
You will lock a purrfect price of €17 per month, you can cancel anytime. The doors will close this Sunday, Feb 11th at 11:59 pm GMT
IT'S FINALLY TIME! MAOW CLUB DOORS ARE OPEN (FOR ONLY 72 HOURS) 🙀
If you follow this page, I already know you are a devoted cat lover.
Does your cat exhibit these behaviour?
-hiding from people
-scared of going to the vet
-scared of travelling in the car
-difficulty to give much-needed medication
-cannot groom the cat and result in matted fur
-vocalisation at night
-following people around, etc...
-inappropriate urinating or defecating
-aggression towards other cats, other animals, or humans
-any other "weird" behaviour
If you are experiencing any of the above, I want to tell you this...
All these problems can be solved and your cat's mental health will hugely improve. (And your own too!)
We now know physical health and mental health are interrelated. If your cat experiences any of the behaviour issues above, they are suffering from fear, stress, or anxiety. And it might eventually cause physical issues where vet visits (and vet bills) will occur.
Money aside, we all want our cats to be healthy and happy.
For the longest time, people thought these behaviour are "just being cats", but now we know better. We know animals also need mental health support and it has become very accessible too!
I have been working as a cat behavioural consultant for 13 years and have helped hundreds of families internationally. Most of them are happy to book a consultation with me and solve the problem together, but in some cases, consultation might not be a good option.
Budget issue: some might not have the budget for this 1:1 experience
Time issue: some just don't have the energy to do the intense implementation during a short period of time
Not behaviour problem: some cases are just not behavioural problems! But rather a training issue that needs to be worked on over several months. e.g. anxiety issues - having house guests, going to the vet, taking medication, following people around intensely, vocalisation at night, etc.
So an idea came to me, how about we have a space where there is an option for people to work on improving their cat's mental health on an ongoing basis, month after month? Because ensuring our cats live a happy life is not a once-off thing. It's something we do day in and day out.
During the depth of lockdown, I started Maow Club. This is nearly the second year of this club and I am so happy to see all the progress our members have made, and all the friendships they have nurtured in this community.
What are you going to get, for only €17 per month:

Spotted this at Euro store, very important training device. If you want to solve your ”cat problems”, e.g. Get them to get into cat carrier, stay still for medication, brushing etc…clicking training can do magic.

Shay's Story by the Cat Rescue Guy
"Shay is a sweet, one-year-old, black-and-white kitty, but she runs away from strangers. Two different people tried to rescue her when she got stuck in a neighbour's Pine tree, but they both failed because Shay would not let them get close enough to her. After Shay spent three nights in the tree, it was now my turn to see if I could get this kitty back on the ground and bring some relief to her owner, Birgid, who had been very worried and stressed during this ordeal.
From the ground, while I was preparing to climb, Shay appeared downright friendly, but, once I climbed up near her, she remained true to her reputation and walked out to the end of the limb to get away from me. The usual coaxing produced no results, but, when I pulled out a small bag of treats and shook it, she suddenly perked up and came toward me.
She was hesitant as she approached me, but, when I reached out to her, she sniffed my hand and then turned around and went back out to the end of the limb. I was pleased with that progress and knew she would be back, so I waited while pretending to show no interest in her.
Another shake of the treat bag brought her back toward me, but it took a few times before she eventually got the courage to come close enough to me where I could reach her. I had already prepared the cat bag on my arm, so I gently grabbed her by the scruff to make sure she didn't get away again, and then I pulled the bag over her. I brought her back down to the ground, and Birgid sighed with great relief."

Rescuing cats from trees - A webinar by the Cat Rescue Guy
When a cat is stuck in a tree, the cat and its owner are both suffering and that suffering is needlessly prolonged when numerous people convince the owner that all cats come down on their own. That is not true.
Some cats will come down, but some won't. If the cat has had enough time to figure out how to come down on its own and is still stuck, then it's time for a rescue!
In this webinar, the Cat Rescue Guy will cover:

Who is Maow Club for? Q&A
Alice is going to address the doubts that she has heard about joining this cat lover membership club
What is Maow Club and why should you join?
Alice will chat with you about how she comes up with the idea and why should you join as a founding member.
When Alice and Jason moved to Dublin from Paris in 2007, for the first time ever they had no family to help take care of their cat when they travelled. So they went looking and tried to look for a paid option. They quickly realised that there weren't that many options out there for cat people. Having a very difficult cat who doesn't travel well at all made going to a cattery a very difficult operation. Alice thought, 'Ha! I could start a cat sitting business!' They thought, 'Hey! Why not?'
Before they knew it, Alice left her office job and began cat sitting full time. Since then, the amount of cat families we have signed up to service has been growing every year. In 2012, as demand grew, we even started recruiting a few of our customers to join our team as cat sitters too!
We have served hundreds of cat people all over Dublin.
We offer cat sitting, cat behaviourial therapy, one-on-one coaching, workshop and so much more. Check out our website on www.maowcare.com
When Alice is not working with cats, she writes about cats, check out her blog on www.alicechauginguene.com
