Didn’t get the news we were hoping for from KCC last week.
Unfortunately they want extensive Road Safety Assessments done on the proposed entrance to the Dog Park which is going to cost thousands of euro, and that’s on top of all the planning fees already paid- and absolutely still doesn’t guarantee that they’ll grant the permission for us to open the park😭
The entrance is already an existing opening from the councils road (in a reduced speed section) and with our bright and lovely planned roadside signage and warnings about the upcoming Dog Park entrance it will be very safe to drive into, especially considering it’s going to be a pre-booked facility with only 1-2 visitors/cars an hour max, and on suitably agreed DAYLIGHT times only!!
(If I were KCC I’d be far more worried about checking out the safety of other stretches of locals road where the cars tear up and down (and dump all their litter!) at night! But I digress…)
We’ve spoken to some companies today who can carry out the assessments but if anyone has any knowledge/experience/business in this area and can offer expertise, advice, or services please contact us urgently!
It’s heartbreaking that we mightn’t be able to progress with our much needed venture at this location due to an entrance that has been regularly and safely used for many years, and that KCC signed off on being safe for our domestic use less than 4 years ago💔
** should add I don’t want to generate negative energy to kcc individuals /councillors etc. They’ve all been very supportive so far but it’s office ‘red tape’ I’m afraid
My focus here is proving them wrong about their apparent worries, and creating a solution we’re both happy with that serves the local community’s dog owners safely… without leaving us thousands of euro out of pocket still with no guarantees, before we even start looking at building the fencing!**
