Hi folks,
I hope you all had a lovely long weekend.
Meet Kobe. Kobe was in for his annual booster vaccinations, which he took like champion. If only every health check and vaccination went so smoothly.โบ๏ธ He was truly the best boy, and he knew where the treats were hidden by the end of the visit๐. For such a brute, he was a true angle. ๐
Vaccinations help to stimulate an immune response, which will then produce antibodies. These antibodies allow the body to identify the disease or virus. If/when the pet comes into contact with the pathogen, the antibodies will neutralise the forgin substance.
If you have any questions or would like to book your pet in for the vaccinations, please call 045 480478.
Happy St. Patrick's Day ๐ฎ๐ชโ๏ธ
Hello folks,
We just want to wish Robyn a very happy birthday. Robyn is a hard-working member of our team.
Hi folks,
Meet Clara โค๏ธ
Clara was unwell during the week. After staying with us for a couple of days, she bounced back and was full of cuddles. Her smile says it all. ๐

Hello folks,
Meet Sadie, who was in with us during the week for a blood glucose curve. She is such a happy dog, and the helicopter tail brought a smile to us all. She is one big cuddler โค๏ธ
Happy 1st of December, and enjoy your weekend.

Happy Friday,
Meet these two cutie pies, Stella and Stuart. These beauties were in last week getting spayed and castrated.
Neutering can have many important benefits, such as reducing the risk of certain cancers, having a positive benefit for health and lifespan, and curbing unwanted behaviour and marking. If you have any questions relating to neutering, get in contact, and we will be happy to help.

Hi folks,
It's the middle of the week, and look who came in to visit.
Meet Otto.
Otto came in for recommendations for his puppy food. It is essential that our pets are consuming foods that are designed to meet their life stages and developmental needs.
We here in Animals First Veterinary Hospital are happy to help when it comes to giving advice on feeding your pets.

Hi folks,
Meet this cutie pie. This is Stella, and she presented with itchy ears. After a good cleaning and administering some ear medication, she was ready for home. Stella was very eager to get some treats.
Ps. Happy Friday! Have a lovely weekend ๐
Happy Friday, folks,
You need to meet Tyson. Tyson was in for his general health check during the week. He was such a happy boy and even managed to convince one of the nurses to give him a licky mat.
Regular health checks are important as they can help to identify early signs of any health issues.
Hi folks,
Remember Spud? He was back to see us today for a little procedure. As you can see, he took it in his stride. Because Spud had previously been in a fight with another cat, he was tested for two very serious viruses, FIV and FeLV. These illnesses can have a huge impact on a cats life. Gladly, Spud was negative for both. If you are concerned about your own furry friends, please feel free to contact us.
Happy last days of summer ๐
So let's talk heatstroke, and how we can prevent it.
The signs of heatstroke:
* Heavy panting
* Breathing issues especially in brachycephalic
* Stiffness or unwillingness to move
* Tiredness
* Dribbling
* Confusion
* Vomiting (may contain blood)
How to prevent heatstroke:
* Plenty of cool fresh water
* A cool shaded area
* No long walks when temperature is high
If you think your pet is displaying these symptoms, contact your veterinary practice immediately. Never place a cool wet towel over the pet as it traps heat, lay it on the ground so the pet can rest upon it. Enjoy the weather safely folks.
Welcome back after the long weekend. Today, we are celebrating international cat day.
In animals first veterinary hospital, we are all about our furry felines, so meet some of our staff felines.

Meet Robyn / Practice Manager Robyn
Some of you have met this truly gentle sole. If you haven't, you're missing out. She is such a cutie pie and runs a tight ship in Animals First Veterinary Hospital.
No crumb goes uninspected and only extra squishy, fluffy beds only under her watch.
