Sometimes the nature of their disability means they are unlikely to have a full life term, therefore it is our mission to make sure they live their best life.

Heart throb LEO suffered some sort of head trauma prior to being surrendered to AIN. Leo's head trauma left him with a slight head tilt and caused him to lose his hearing, his condition meant that he needed an indoor home and we were delighted to have him join our family of special furbabies. Leo's eating habits were a concern, the only way l can describe it is that he never seemed to be aware when he was hungry. We over came this by feeding him on our lap with his own special bowl little but often, he didn't like any of the usual kitten food on offer but loved lick-e-lix and felix soup. Now that Leo has been with us a few weeks, his eating habits are much improved, l think this is a combination of his head trauma still healing plus our other kitties have definitely helped Leo's development, he now goes to the grazing bowls and eats dry kitten food, he also visits the water bowls whenever he is thirsty. Leo still comes up on my lap for his lick-e-lix and he's cute enough to recognise his own little bowl which he nudges when he wants a felix soup but he also joins the other kitties when they are getting fed. Leo is the sweetest boy, he loves climbing up on your lap for cuddles and will then curl up and fall asleep, he's just adorable 💕

Gorgeous GEORGIO was rescued by AIN, he had problems with his back legs which turned out to be due to an untreated trauma to his back end. Georgio was on cage rest at the AIN foster carers for a few months where he was given daily physio and by the time he came to us you would never guess he had an issue with his back legs at all. Georgio took a little time to settle in, understandably, as he was an adult cat that had been used to being on his own. These days Georgio loves his feline and canine buddies, he's very sociable and has a wonderful purr, which he happily shares, he is quite the charmer. The little flecks of white on his side look like he's brushed against paint but it is infact white tips on his glossy black coat.

FABIO came to us via AIN last May. FABIO was born at AIN to a rescued Mama, it was noticed that he just wasn't behaving like a normal kitten and seemed to have development issues. We adopted Fabio together with his brother Cooper as they were bonded and indeed, Cooper has played a great part in helping Fabio develop into this handsome young kitty. FABIO still marches to the beat of his own drum, he's not a nurser but will happily curl up and sleep on the arm of a chair near you, he's a very gentle boy and very happy in 'Fabio's' world ❤️

Say 'hello' to our new addition LEO (formerly Jamie). LEO was rescued by AIN earlier this month, he disappeared from the lady that was feeding him and returned two days later wobbly and disoriented. During his disappearance LEO suffered a head trauma which has affected his balance and left him deaf. We brought LEO home yesterday, he's an adorable wee boy, he's unbelievably affectionate and has such a happy demeanor. We re-named him LEO as he has the heart of a lion 🦁 ❤️

Our sweet old lady BLISS gained her angel wings this evening. She went for her usual after lunch sleep and slipped away peacefully. If you've followed Bliss's story you'll know that she was an hour away from being pts when we got her, we knew her time with us would be limited and wish it would have been longer. We are however happy we were able to give her two months of unconditional love and lots of lick-e-lix and her own cosy bed. RIP darling girl 💔

It all began with blind boy Bailey ....

4Poshpaws was started in 2008 after we adopted our first special needs kitten, Bailey, he was only ten weeks old and already had an operation to have his eyes removed due to untreated cat flu. Once Bailey came into our lives we knew we wanted to help other special needs cats/kittens as we felt they would be the ones that would be overlooked by people wanting to home a rescue animal. We now have over 60 special needs kitties from not just the UK and Ireland but from Greece, Malta, Spain and Egypt, quite a number of these kitties received their injuries due to human cruelty as well as neglect, living with our kitties are nine rescue doggies that follow the house rule “Cats are in charge”. 4Poshpaws is a self-funding organisation and we pay for the vaccinations/passport and transport costs to get our kitties to Donegal, plus their ongoing medical costs, we do not re-home as this is now their forever home where they get unconditional love and pampering. We reap the benefit of our endeavours daily as there is nothing more rewarding than seeing these precious kitties grow in confidence and learn to trust again.
