🩵💚🩵🐾 A Chance 🐾🩵💚🩵

I know I don’t look perfect. Maybe my fur is patchy, maybe I don’t know all my manners yet. Maybe I seem shy or too bouncy or a little bit broken. But please… don’t walk past me.

I wasn’t always here. Once, I belonged somewhere. Maybe I was loved, maybe I wasn’t. I can’t tell you why I ended up in rescue—but I can tell you what I dream about every single day.

I dream of a hand reaching out to me, not to push me away, but to hold me close. I dream of someone who will see more than “a rescue dog.” Someone who will see me.

I may need time. I may make mistakes. I may test your patience as I learn how to trust again. But I promise, I carry so much love inside me, just waiting for the right person to unlock it.

When you give me a chance, you’re giving me more than a home. You’re giving me hope. You’re telling me I matter, that my story doesn’t end in sadness, that I am worthy of love after all.

So please… if your heart has room, look my way. Don’t see the scars or the past I can’t explain—see the dog I could be with your love. Because I don’t need perfect. I just need you. 💔❤️

She may sound like a posh duchess, but don’t be fooled – this 1-year-old Staffie X is more kangaroo than lady. Found as an unclaimed stray, Steffi has bounced straight into our care with a waggy tail and endless enthusiasm for life!

🌸🐾 We urgently need a new beginning and final chapter for our Shortcake 🐾🌸

Shortcake is a 6-year-old French Bulldog who has had a tougher journey than most. She was an unclaimed stray from the pound. She lives with IVDD and while surgery isn’t an option, she copes well on daily pain relief (all covered by us for life). What she needs now isn’t more upheaval – it’s a safe, loving home where she can finally put down roots and just be.

She’s previously lived happily with kids and dogs, but in her current foster she has shown reactivity around younger children who are not family members and when meeting new dogs out and about. For this reason, she would thrive best in a quieter home – with adults or older children and ideally calmer resident dogs who she can just chill with. A calm home without lots of comings and goings would be perfect.

💖 What makes Shortcake so special is her resilience. Despite everything, she’s still full of love to give – she just needs the right family to believe in her. Imagine the joy of watching her finally relax, knowing she’s safe and cherished, her tail wagging as she realises this really is her forever place.

🙏 We are searching for a long-term foster home where Shortcake can stay for good, surrounded by kindness and care. Could you be the one to give her that fresh start she’s been waiting for? Shortcake needs a home with ⬇️

🌧️⛰️ Mount Errigal Climb Update ⛰️🌧️

This morning, our incredible Underdogs NI volunteers and supporters set out to conquer Mount Errigal—but Mother Nature had other plans. Battling relentless wind, rain, and even hailstones, we reached the first peak before making the tough but wise decision to turn back. The conditions were simply too dangerous to continue, and the safety of our team will always come first.

While we’re feeling a bit deflated, we’re proud of the effort, unity, and determination shown by everyone involved. A few brave souls plan to return and complete the climb another day when the weather is kinder.

We’re still tallying the total funds raised, as donations are still coming in—but we want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored, supported, and cheered us on. Every single penny goes directly towards helping the animals in our care, and we’re so grateful for your generosity.

And to those who took part today—you were absolute warriors in the worst conditions imaginable. We couldn’t be prouder of this team 💙🐾

🥳🥳🥳 The news we have all been waiting for …from “no hope” to home 🏡 after 325 days it was worth the wait - Jax you have finally made your way home 🥳🥳🥳

Day 1:
He arrived with wide, worried eyes and no familiar belongings that smelled like him. The kennel was strange and loud. He curled up every night and waited for someone he didn’t know to come back 🥺

Days 2–30:
He learned the routine: breakfast, a little walk, back to bed. He watched doors open for other dogs and tried to understand why they left but he stayed. He’d press his nose to the bars when footsteps passed, just in case they were for him 💔

Days 31–120:
Tiny wins. Excitement for a favourite volunteer. A new found love for toys that he never must have experienced before. He really started to trust the hands that clipped on his lead and we began to see the loveable character Jax really was. Still, each evening ended the same—lights dim, corridor quiet, his bed still here and alone ☹️

Days 121–200:
Setbacks. An application that didn’t work out. A meet that never happened. We told him tomorrow would be his day; he believed us, so we kept believing too. But the waiting got heavy 😢

Days 201–260:
The “no hope” days. Rainy walks. Empty inbox. He watched friends leave with their families and came back to a kennel that felt smaller than it should. We kept his world stimulated —puzzle toys, long walks, whispered promises—but some nights we cried when he couldn’t see 😭

Days 261–300:
Your shares and kind comments became our lighthouse. He learned new tricks, wore his best bandana, and posed like a pro. Hope tip-toed back in 🙏🏻

Day 325:
They walked in… and he exhaled. He took to them like he had known them forever. They spent time together, walked and played and we could see Jax look at them as if to say… “You found me.” We gave him hugs and kisses and we packed up his belongings and tried not to ugly-cry as he seemed to know his past was now behind him 🥹

Today:
Instead of kennel doors, he wakes to cosy beds, warm laps and a garden of his own. His new family don’t just like him—they adore him. They’ve already sent updates: chilling in the bed, snoring his wee heart out, him trotting on his new lead like he owns the pavement and zooming around his garden in the company of the people he now loves the most. He knows, at last, that he is home. Forever. 🏡❤️

long days—thank you. You helped carry him to his happy ever after. And to his wonderful family: thank you for seeing the magic we knew was there all along 🥰

Here’s to his new family and the rest of his life: love, belly rubs and warm cosy endings to every single day. We thankyou for giving our boy the chance he deserved and loving him as much as we did 🐾✨😍🐶

Move over Bridget Jones – there’s a new unlucky-in-love star in town! Meet Tootsie, our 8-month-old Pug x Staffie with a squishy face, wiggly bum and a heart the size of a planet. 🌍❤️

Tootsie has been swiping left and right (mostly on squeaky toys and gravy bones), but somehow she hasn’t found her forever match yet. How?! She’s:
✨ Playful – zoomies guaranteed.
✨ Friendly – adores kids and other dogs.
✨ Loyal – she’ll be your shadow, personal cheerleader and cuddle-buddy.
