Jeremy Cooper, Chair of GBGB and former CEO of the RSPCA, said:

“As a former CEO of the RSPCA, I look at the existing welfare standards in greyhound racing and wish that these were in place for all dog owners in the UK. It saddens me that the standards this sport rightly upholds and continues to improve on, are not shared for all dogs in the UK. As we develop our Strategy, I very much hope that what we learn and share can assist in raising the standards of welfare for domestic dogs across the UK.”

DSPCA recently showed a video, of a what they portrayed, as a rescued ex-racing Greyhound in a traumatised condition.

The disgraceful comments that were aimed at Greyhound owners in general, were hurtful and portrayed all owners as non-caring.

DSPCA raised in excess of €11,000 in a couple of days, as a result of a "DONATE" button attached to the video.

Geelo Monty (Ballymac Eske - Macys Perfect) spent a number of months here as a youngster.

He was actually schooled here along with Gymcrack and Derby Plate winner Cometwopass.

Monty went on to win the 2017 BGBF Puppy Cup at Sheffield and the 2018 British Bred Derby, also at Sheffield, for his trainer Carl Perry.

Lovely to see him enjoying his retirement.

Says it as it is !!!

The Taoiseach recently referenced the importance of balance in society and not being absolutist in pursuing individual objectives to the exclusion of others. The Irish Greyhound Owners and Breeders Federation represent greyhound owners and breeders who are the target of an animal rights campaign of social exclusion.

These activists wish to deny greyhound racing, horse racing, farmers, hunters, fishermen, zoos, aquariums, working animals, meat eaters and pet owners the same rights, opportunities, status and resources that are normally available to all members of society.

Greyhound racing in recent times has been systematically marginalised and excluded by certain media, Tourism Ireland, Failte Ireland and national TV broadcasting stations. Our culture and heritage is being threatened by policies that meet the needs of animal rights activists but not our needs.

Some politicians are bowing to the relentless demands of animal rights campaigners and allowing businesses, individuals and agencies to be harassed and forced to make social exclusion policies which are detrimental and damaging to rural pursuits, farming, pet ownership, tourism and any business involving animals. The animal rights perception of our heritage is not reality.
All judgement of what is right and what is wrong is relative to one who is doing the judging. By all means scrutinise animal welfare, scrutinise laws, traceability and regulations but above all scrutinise the attempts to bring about social exclusion.

Animal Rights Activists are experts in using propaganda, allegations and sensationalism but look closely at their accusations, their mistruths, their shame campaigns, their donation buttons, their billboards, their websites, their posters, their megaphones, their chants, their letters to newspapers and their entire modus operandi and reflect….
Please don’t allow the social exclusion of our heritage by animal rights campaigners.

I'm asking all my FACEBOOK friends to please watch and "share" this series of videos, that will be shown over the next number of weeks.

It aims to promote and educate, those outside the Industry, the true love we all have for our dogs, as opposed to the disgraceful, one sided and obviously biased documentary, that was screened by RTE, that attempted to portray the Industry and all those involved in it, in a bad light !

No good just "liking", we are asking everyone to "share" as well, to get our message across to a much wider audience !!

Thanks !

Some people may wonder why I post so many videos of dogs going up my gallop !

Here is one of the reasons !

Here is Elmfield Pavlova. She raced 113 times for 21 victories. Only a modest grader, but she has found a loving home in retirement.

We were able to share with her new owner her having a spin up our gallop starting off !
