Feral Cats Sligo are thrilled to announce that our first big fundraiser of 2025, our Valentine’s Day Raffle, is now officially underway 🥳🎉

All proceeds from this raffle will go towards paying our outstanding vet bills (€1,683 as at 31st December 2024) and providing food for the cats & kittens in our care 🐾❤️

COMMUNITY FUNDED
Feral Cats Sligo does not receive any public funding or grants and relies solely on the generosity of our amazing community. Everyone is a volunteer. Nobody gets paid. It's because of YOU - our members, volunteers, fosters, sponsors, donors and raffle ticket buyers - that we are able to continue our mission of caring for these beautiful feline companions 🙏🏼💕

😢😿 Mounting Vet Bills 😿😢

It’s looking very likely that Feral Cats Sligo will be forced to temporarily shutdown after Christmas. 😢

This is due to our mounting vet bills which have increased from just over €15,000 for the first ten months of 2023 to €21,712 for the same period in 2024, an increase of €6,712 or 45%. 😳

Although our other expenses and income have remained largely unchanged, these larger vet bills have contributed to an overall deficit of €6,265 in our finances so far this year. 😩

Our outstanding vet bills at 31st October were €5,156, €2,981 of which are due by 30th November. 😔

But there’s still hope….. 😁

Feral Cats Sligo has setup a GoFundMe page where kindhearted people can help us by sharing our story and/or donating to our appeal. 🥰

‘We can’t save every Sligo cat but we surely can try’. 😻

❤️🐱 About Feral Cats Sligo 🐱❤️

Feral Cats Sligo is a voluntary organisation based in Sligo, Ireland, that focuses on the welfare and management of feral cats in the area.

Our objective is to improve the lives of feral cats through our trap-neuter-return (TNR), fostering, adoption and education programs.

TNR Program
Feral Cats Sligo actively engages in trap-neuter-return programs, where feral cats are trapped, spayed/neutered, medically checked by the vet and then returned to their original location. This helps control the population and prevents the birth of more feral kittens.

Fostering Programs
Feral Cats Sligo have a team of fosters who work towards socialising cats and kittens in their care. On occasion they also take care of cats that have undergone surgical procedures until they are fully recovered. All associated costs including veterinary care and food are paid for by Feral Cats Sligo.

Adoption Program
Feral Cats Sligo works towards socialising feral kittens and finding them loving homes. We also provide guidance and support to adopters to ensure the well-being of the cats.

Education Program
Feral Cats Sligo actively promotes awareness and education about feral cats, their behaviour, and the importance of responsible pet ownership. We aim to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding feral cats.

Volunteer Network
Feral Cats Sligo relies on a network of dedicated volunteers who help with trapping, transportation, fostering, and finding suitable homes for socialised feral cats and kittens.

Fundraising and Donations
Feral Cats Sligo receives no funding and relies on fundraising efforts and donations to cover the costs of veterinary care, food and other expenses associated with our work.

Collaboration
Feral Cats Sligo collaborates with other local animal welfare organisations, veterinary clinics, and individuals to maximize their impact and provide the best care for feral cats in the region.
