Did you know, that in 1924, a complete ban on dogs was enforced in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland 🇮🇸? It was illegal ❌ to have a dog as a pet due to increased cases of fatal tapeworms passed on from dogs. The only allowed dogs were the working ones in the countryside. People there can own dogs now, but they have to get a permission from the municipality and pay some fees 💰. You probably won’t see many dogs there anyway, because after such long time with no dogs around, city people don’t have much of a culture of dogs as pets and will probably opt more for a cat 🐱 rather than a dog. And if you want to travel to Iceland with your furry friend, it won’t be that easy either. There’s a plenty of requirements that need to be fulfilled to be able to enter the country with a dog and what’s more, even if you get all of those, your friend is going into quarantine for 14 days anyway.
Has anyone here been to Iceland with a doggo? 🐶
