Without bats to eat insects, farmers turned to more pesticides, a study found. That appears to have increased infant deaths.

Another bat went home yesterday! Yaay!

Finally got to release a Brown Long-eared bat yesterday evening in Westport. She was bouncing up and down in her cage when I arrived at the release spot. She flew away into the night as soon as the lid was lifted. The weather has been so terrible that I have had to hold on to bats far longer than is ideal.

🚤 Calling all boaters! 🌊

Contaminated boats, gear, and equipment can unknowingly spread invasive species like zebra mussels to new water bodies. These tiny invaders can be hard to spot and can survive for weeks on damp surfaces.

🌱🐟 All boaters can help protect the waters we love and the sport we enjoy by always remembering to your boats, gear, and equipment when moving between rivers, lakes, canals, and marine waterways.

Join the campaign and don't forget to report any sightings of invasive species to Biodiversity Ireland

Another in our poster series for vet clinics and general awareness.

Birds a very busy right now and will continue to be over the next few months. Have a look at this poster, and think before approaching a young bird (or animal). It is best to seek professional advice.

If you don't see this on your vet's notice board, please request they print it out. Your feathered friends will thank you.
