After we dropped Norman to ICU last night, we were hopeful that the 48 hours following would be kinder to him. We received a call this morning from the ICU to come & to come quickly as he was not very well.

At 1231pm today, I made the most difficult decision to not resuscitate him with my mum by my side.
At 1234pm, Norman “Mr Norms” O Byrne, slipped away peacefully from my grasp wrapped in my arms as he took his final breath as his heart stopped. A decision nobody ever thought we’d have to make.

My world is totally obliterated right now & I don’t have the mental capacity to process what has happened. But I can however take some comfort knowing that I gave him the best life I could possibly have given him. Daily walks in the mountains, exploring our little country in the van with his 2 big sisters. Having the largest group of dog friends & an overall incredible experience of life albeit a very short one.

I will miss my boy. The dog who I always felt safest with when we were at work daily. The dog who every night at 830pm would drag over his toy box & empty it on the floor. The dog who would carry in stones from the garden & drop them on the floor & run away. The dog who would bark at me to throw a tennis ball even if he’d just lost 5 of them. But the dog who would make sure that his family & his home were always looked after. And the dog who would constantly reassure me that I was safe when he was there.

Thank you to everybody who wished him well, who lit candles & who sent their love from all around the world. It means so much to me, my mum & my entire family to know that he was loved & adored more than we ever could have imagined. To my clients, some of the most compassionate people I have ever met, thank you for sending me love & Kindness.

I will be working this week with some restrictions, back climbing mountains as if Norman was still with me. My happiest place with now the happiest memories of him❤️ All walks will be continued as normal but all meet & greets are cancelled as I don’t have the mental capacity to talk to anybody outside of my family or current clientele. Again thank you for the understanding & patience at this time❤️
