This unwanted visitor in our patients ear today is Otodectes cynotis or an ear mite.

Ear mites are tiny skin parasites that cause intensely itchy ears and often lead to ear infections.

Any cat or dog can catch ear mites but they are most common in kittens.

The most common way for a cat to catch ear mites is from another cat, but they can also be picked up from the home, garden and environment.

Fortunately, treating ear mites is relatively simple. If you think your cat or dog has ear mites or any ear problem, give us a call to get them checked 👂👂👂

Holly came in today to have a dental and as you can see from the before photos she had quite severe periodontitis. Dental disease is a painful problem, and can lead to other problems such as kidney and heart disease.
It’s important to check your dog’s mouth regularly because most dogs with dental issues continue to eat despite being uncomfortable.
Holly will be feeling much better now and is no longer in pain-brave girl! ❤️
