At IVC Evidensia Ireland, sharing knowledge, building relationships, and celebrating excellence are at the heart of our mission. The IVC Evidensia Leaders' Forum and Congress embodies that by bringing over 200 colleagues together to share knowledge, build relationships, and celebrate excellence. We support the exceptional individuals within our network through networking, engaging workshops, inspiring speakers, and the Brilliant People Awards. Today, we’re proud to recognise Erica Wade, Animal Care Assistant at Shenick Veterinary Centre, as the winner of the Sustainability Award!

Erica’s remarkable dedication to sustainability has transformed her practice and inspired her colleagues. She is described as a driving force for change, constantly implementing eco-friendly initiatives to reduce waste and promote recycling.

Here’s what Erica did:
♻️Introduced recycling protocols for cans and bottles, recycling over 800 items and using the refunds to treat her team to lunches and ice cream.
♻️Recycled over 1,000 coffee pods this year, ensuring they don’t end up in landfills.
♻️Set up battery recycling boxes for staff and clients, making responsible disposal easier.
♻️Found creative ways to reuse packaging materials for staff and client needs, reducing unnecessary waste.
♻️Championed the shift from plastic bags to paper envelopes when dispensing medication, further reducing environmental impact.

One of her colleagues who nominated her said, "Erica’s enthusiasm and initiative inspire us all to be more mindful of our environmental footprint. She truly embodies the spirit of sustainability and deserves this recognition."

IVC Evidensia Ireland is proud to celebrate Michelle O'Grady Mernagh from O'Shea Bramley & Breen Veterinary Hospital Wexford as the deserving recipient of the Brilliant People Award We Share (Non-Clinical)!

Michelle has been at the heart of the practice since its beginning, starting as front of house and growing into her role as practice manager over the last 20 years. Her colleagues describe her as the heart of the practice, someone who is always professional, empathetic, and dedicated to her team.

"With her hand at the rudder, she has been integral in ensuring the practice continues to improve, whatever challenges are sent our way, each time coming through stronger and better."

We’re delighted to celebrate Elaine Nolan, the recipient of the We Share Clinical award at the IVC Evidensia Ireland Brilliant People Awards!

Elaine is an RVN at Shenick Veterinary Centre. One of her colleagues shared, "It is truly a pleasure to work alongside Elaine. Her experience is invaluable, and she never hesitates to share her extensive knowledge across a range of topics. From working with exotic animals to teaching skills like tube-feeding birds and restraint techniques, Elaine is always patient and supportive. Her calming manner helps both clients and team members feel at ease, and she ensures clients fully understand procedures and recommendations, answering any questions they may have."

Elaine’s dedication goes beyond the clinic. Every Thursday, she and her beloved dog Sally — her half-Dachshund, half-Jack Russell sidekick — visit a local primary school as part of the Reading Dogs Programme. Together, they help children build confidence in reading and speaking, creating a safe and supportive environment. Sally also brings daily joy to the clinic, making every day a little brighter.

Elaine embodies the spirit of the We Share award through her care, compassion, and commitment to her community. Thank you, Elaine, for the incredible impact you make every day!

Congratulations to Hannah Wilkinson of Raheny Veterinary Hospital Veterinary Hospital. She scooped the We Dare (Non-Clinical) award at the IVC Evidensia Ireland Brilliant People Awards!

Hannah was nominated for the award by her colleagues. They said,

"Hannah has been a game-changer since she joined us. From day one, she’s brought a fresh approach to the reception area, implementing changes that have really made a difference in how we operate. She’s streamlined processes, making everything run much smoother and improving communication between staff and clients. Her dedication and passion for her job are truly inspiring. Whether it’s interacting with clients or supporting our team, Hannah always brings her best.

She’s also taken charge of our social media with incredible creativity, capturing the essence of our practice and showcasing the amazing work we do with our patients. The photos she takes of our furry friends are always so heartwarming! And, of course, Hannah’s work with our Pet Health Club has been a huge asset to our practice, providing financial support to clients when they need it most.

Crescent Veterinary Clinic recently spread holiday cheer with their wonderful Santa Paws event! The clinic was transformed into a festive wonderland, where excited pups enjoyed tasty doggy treats and their owners savoured indulgent chocolates, all while capturing precious moments with Santa Claus.

Thanks to the generosity of attendees, Crescent Veterinary Clinic raised over €300 for animal charities. A brilliant result from a lovely event!

This Christmas season, the O'Dowd Veterinary Santa Paws event was nothing short of magical! Families, pets, and the community came together to celebrate the holidays while supporting the incredible work of Cian's Kennels.

The day was filled with joy and meaningful moments, from festive photo opportunities to an exciting raffle with prizes for both kids and their furry companions. The team also shared tips on responsible pet ownership and preventative healthcare, because pets truly are family.

Cian’s Kennels, does incredible work in supporting families with sick children. When a child is hospitalised, it can be a heartbreaking experience, and Cian’s Kennels steps in to help. The organisation provides temporary accommodation and transportation for pets, allowing children to stay connected with their animals during their hospital stays. They also organise visits, ensuring the bond between the child and pet remains strong, even in difficult times. Research has shown that the presence of pets can have a profoundly positive effect on a child's emotional well-being, often speeding up recovery and reducing stress.

A huge congratulations to Themis Bouas of Raheny Veterinary Hospital for winning the We Dare Clinical Award at the IVC Evidensia Ireland Brilliant People Awards!

Living and breathing IVC Evidensia Ireland's core values, Themis embodies innovation, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence in veterinary care. His pioneering spirit has brought life-changing advancements to the practice, such as introducing BOAS surgery, creating the 'Respiratory Function Assessment Form' for clients, and becoming a registered assessor for the Irish Kennel Club to guide breeders in reducing BOAS risks.

Themis’s ability to challenge the status quo and his innovative thinking are truly remarkable. In the words of his colleague who nominated him for the award:
"From performing complex surgeries like biliary stents to creating tools that empower pet owners, Themis' work exemplifies excellence in veterinary care. Elevating Skills Through CPD in Veterinary Ophthalmology

CPD events for our staff are vitally important to ensure they can practice at the very highest standards that we can possibly aspire to. Investing in our people and their skills helps us better achieve our mission of Healthy Pets, Happy Owners.

This video shows one of the CPD events held earlier this year. It was a full-day CPD event in veterinary ophthalmology, led by Natasha Mitchell, a Veterinary Council of Ireland specialist. The training featured morning lectures and hands-on cadaver surgery in the afternoon, providing invaluable learning for the delegates.

Natasha believes that empowering vets to handle procedures confidently is invaluable and a wonderful addition to teaching. She said,

“The best part of teaching is how enthusiastic the vets are for learning. They're really hungry for knowledge. It's wonderful when companies like IVC Evidensia Ireland are able to provide that for their delegates.”

Alan Rossiter, Group Veterinary Advisor at IVC Evidensia Ireland said,

"Over the next 12 months we have a load of really good CPD planned. IVC Evidensia Ireland is unique in the level and quality of internal CPD that we're providing. There is no other group within Ireland providing anything like this."

A huge congratulations to Sadhbh Kirwan of O'Dowd Veterinary our deserving winner of the We Care (Clinical) Award at the IVC Evidensia Ireland Brilliant People Awards!

Sadhbh’s dedication, positivity, and innovative approach truly make her an outstanding vet. Here’s what one of her colleagues said when nominating her:

"Sadhbh goes above and beyond every single day, always with a smile. She’s the first to step up for clients - whether for large or small animals - and ensures they get the best care possible.
