⚠️ Storm Safety Alert for Dog Owners ⚠️

Storm Éowyn is on the way this Friday, bringing extremely dangerous winds and conditions across Ireland. For your dog’s safety, we strongly recommend keeping outdoor trips to an absolute minimum during the worst of the weather.

👉 ONLY take your dog outside to go to the toilet.
👉 ALWAYS use a LONG LINE for these quick trips.

A waterproof long line isn’t just convenient—it’s essential. It gives your dog room to move while keeping them securely tethered to you, reducing the risk of them being startled into running away or escaping through an open gate.

Invest in their safety with a durable waterproof long line. Lightweight, strong, and built for extreme weather, our long lines are the ultimate safety tool in these conditions.

If anyone hasn't a long line but would like one Friday, please contact us directly and we can loan out premade lines. As we won't have time for shipping, collection only.

Our first retreat of 2025 will take place at the stunning IOAC Campground in Wexford from April 11th to 13th. This weekend promises to be a relaxed and social getaway filled with opportunities to train, connect, and soak up everything Hounds and Helis is all about! 🐕💚

🐕‍🦺Disciplines: Mantrailing and Cadaver Training

🏕️ Retreat Highlights:
Camping Amenities: Modern pitches with electricity, clean bathroom and shower blocks, plus shared kitchen facilities (microwave, twin hob, and fridge). Campervans are welcome, and sleeping in your vehicle is perfectly fine!
Onsite Café: Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – making it easy to relax and enjoy time with your dog.
Training Onsite: All training sessions will take place right at the campground. Dogs must stay on-lead throughout, with no breed restrictions (though temporary muzzling may be required for restricted breeds if the site is busy).
🐕 A Social and Relaxed Weekend
This retreat is designed to strike the perfect balance between training and unwinding. I’ll be floating between groups to support and guide you, giving everyone a chance to learn, connect, and enjoy the weekend at their own pace.

👉 Please Note: This campground requires dogs to stay on-lead, so air scent work won’t be available at this retreat. If this is your focus, stay tuned for other retreats this season at different venues!

Out of Office: REC3 Training Weekend

This weekend, I’ll be stepping away from the workshop and training to attend a REC3 (Remote Emergency Care) course. As someone who works outdoors, often in remote areas, completing this training and earning a first aid certificate tailored for outdoor environments will be an invaluable asset.

It’s two full days of hands-on learning, and I’m looking forward to gaining skills that will not only enhance my work but also ensure I’m better prepared for any situation that might arise.

I’ll be back in the office on Monday morning, ready to dive back into all things Hounds and Helis. Any messages sent via email or social media over the weekend will be answered as soon as I’m back.

• Tuesday, 7th January: Fermoy
• Wednesday, 8th January: Midleton
• Thursday, 9th January: Dungarvan

Customers often ask if I do collars with plastic buckles. The answer is no and this is why!

Plastic buckles just aren’t as strong as metal bar buckles and it honestly doesn’t take much for them to break.

If you have a plastic collar buckle, bin it and get any of the collars on our website. They are made super strong and built to last.

Hounds and Helis has been nominated for an Irish Enterprise Award! 🎉 This is such a wonderful surprise, and I feel so incredibly grateful for the support of all of you who have been part of this journey.
