Did you know that before you hire me to take care of your beloved pets, that I offer a free meeting where I travel out to meet you & your pets so that you have the opportunity to decide with confidence if you think I am a good match for you or not!? 🐾🐶🐱🐹🐴

I do this because I also think it’s as important for me to know that I can confidently go to work knowing I will be able to do the job well. It’s a great opportunity for you to tell me in detail what you’d need me to do, and to give your pet a chance to meet me and warm up to me so they are more comfortable if I do end up checking in on them for you 🏡

I have never had a meeting that ended in anything other than me being called back for work, but I would never take offence if I was not a match for you or your pet(s)! 😁

Meetings can vary from 30 minutes to over an hour sometimes! I try to make sure I can give you as much time as you need to ask me and tell me everything you want to. ⏰

We love ✨ALL✨ dogs here at Gregorys Pet Sitting, we don’t discriminate! 💖 I am experienced with dogs with all kinds of reactivity issues - leash reactivity, nervousness, aloofness, dog-on-dog aggression, reactivity issues from past abuse/trauma.

I have a gentle but confident approach to dogs with issues like these and so far I have never met a dog I wasn’t able to become best friends with. 💓🐶 My own dog, Saffy, (not pictured below! That’s Billie!) is reactive to other dogs and aloof with strangers so I know just how important it is to reactive dog carers that they know their furbaby is in good hands!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a dog trainer and I will not be able to train your dog! I can build on a personal relationship with your dog and approach them in a way that allows us to happily work together, but I am not qualified to train your dog, I’m just a pet-sitter.

At Gregorys Pet Sitting I offer a professional check-in service where I go to your home for a 60 minute visit to take care of your pets needs while you are away at work or out on a day-trip!

I have 15+ years of experience in handling and working with animals of all different species with all different temperaments, including reactive dogs, farm animals, equines, rodents. I am Garda vetted and I also offer references from my clients if you wish.

✨ This service begins at €15 an hour and includes : ✨
- a completely FREE first meeting prior to when I begin the check-ins (so you can see if you & your pets like me!)
- any feeding your pet might need
- a 15 minute walk (if it’s a dog visit!)
- enrichment such as playing with them, taking them outside, giving them puzzles, etc
- a text update at the end of the visit including photos

HARRYS STORY

Last September Harry was dumped and left to fend for himself. People in the neighbourhood fed him and called the dog warden to come get him; to no avail. I was informed about Harry and when I spotted him and saw his condition, I couldn’t leave him there. This was only last week, meaning he was left as a stray for over 8 months.
I got speaking to some neighbours who were feeding him and that’s how I was informed he was purposely dumped. A man helped me catch Harry as he was absolutely terrified of humans. I then brought Harry back home with the intent to get him into a rescue right away; but no appropriate rescues would take him as they are all full to the brim at the minute… And he is not the kind of dog that would cope or seem rehomable if he was in a loud, noisey, busy shelter/pound, so that wasn’t an option. We ended up deciding to keep Harry as a foster dog, and rehome him privately after doing some rehabilitation work with him.
Harry is just beginning to figure out what it’s like to be a loved family dog. He is coming out of his shell more & more each day. He has been treated for his flea & tick infestation, he’s getting fed good dog food to fatten him up as he’s underweight, he’s learning about being inside a house as it would seem as though it is completely alien to him, and he’s learning that all the people he’ll meet from now on are going to be nice to him!
He is extremely fond of other dogs and has good social skills so ideally his forever family would already have dogs. He is so fond of my dog Saffy, and she has given him a lot more confidence.
Harry seems to be an English Foxhound and I’ve estimated that he is younger than 2 years old. He has SO much potential to be a happy, well balanced boy. He is naturally VERY curious, which is helping him overcome some of his fears.

✨ ALWAYS ASK BEFORE PETTING A DOG YOU DON’T KNOW ✨

As dog lovers, we know that when you see an adorable dog outside, you just want to shower them with affection! But should you? ❌ Absolutely not, unfortunately! ❌

Although a dog might seem friendly by how they are interacting with their human, most dogs feel uncomfortable when a stranger invades their personal space. Depending on the dogs personality and history, this could cause some dogs to react badly, and sadly the dog is usually the one who gets in trouble for this rather than the human! ☹️

Our dogs are not decoration for others to gawk at and touch as they please. Although your intentions may be good, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s fairly rude to shove your hands into someones face; and whether it’s a human or a dog - it’ll probably scare them!

Since we adopted our Saffy we have had a handful of strangers touch her without permission when we’re out on walks. Saffy is an extremely affectionate and loving girl who loves people more than anything else, but strangers invading her personal space and trying to touch her is very scary to her. 😥 It’s not a fair thing to do and although your intention is good, we need to learn how to respect dogs more and stop treating them as objects that haven’t got feelings and personal wants & needs. ❤️

Information on proper, appropriate hamster cages!

Unfortunately, the information given out by most pet-stores in relation to the housing needs of hamsters, is very outdated and often times can even be harmful.

Most cages advertised as hamster cages are extremely unsuitable for your little hammy friend; they are WAY too small, have poor ventilation, have dangerous tubes and really do not allow your hamster to thrive.

‼️ Did you know ‼️ that bar climbing and bar chewing are NOT normal hamster behaviours, and are actually signs of stress from under stimulation and a lack of space? A happy hamster does not climb or chew on bars!

☀️ HEAT STROKE IN DOGS ☀️

As we come into summer and the days get hotter, be mindful of your animal’s and their risk of heat stroke!

We recommend not walking your dogs on very hot days such as 24degrees and above; no dog has died from missing a walk, but so many dogs have died from getting heatstrokes on walks.

There are ways to help keep your animals cool on hot days such as paddling pools, cooling matts, frozen treats, etc - just make sure whatever you use is suitable for your animal before giving it to them.

🔆 Some chicken facts 🔆

- Before chickens were selectively bred, they naturally lay around a dozen eggs per year.

- Giving your chickens eggs back to them to eat is a brilliant way to give them back nutrients and energy they lose during the egg-making & laying process

- Chickens have around 30 different vocalisations they use to communicate different things to their friends and family

- Chickens will chirp to their babies while they are still inside their eggs, and the babies even chirp back!

- There are over 33 billion chickens in the world currently, almost all of which are bred and farmed for meat or eggs.

- So many people dedicate time and energy into rescuing and rehoming chickens from the farming industry; one sanctuary in Ireland that puts a lot of effort into this is LittleHill Animal Rescue & Sanctuary

JUGG sure loved her bottle when she was a baby! 🍼

We named her Juggernaut because she would push her sisters out of the way to get to the bottle first :)

Jugg's drinking KMR (kitten milk replacement) here... many people believe that cow milk is good for cats, but unfortunately it's not a healthy beverage for felines 👎

The majority of cats are lactose intolerant and even though it might seem like they're enjoying it, milk can cause an upset stomach, cramps and severe diarrhea 😾
