It has been a while since I was active on Facebook, but I never stopped working with dogs.

Other commitments meant that I had to reduce my DogBase activity for a time. Now I am becoming more active again and look forward to sharing both past and future experiences with you.

The photo is from one of my recent training sessions — a reminder that although Facebook was quiet, the work continued.

Loose lead walking is not just about holding the lead differently — it starts with clear communication and consistent practice.

This is the result after just two lessons. Thanks to the owner’s commitment and work between sessions, the progress has been huge: a calmer dog, a looser lead and a more relaxed walk together.

Every dog learns at a different pace, but consistency makes a real difference.

When working with a reactive dog, we must remember that it is our reaction and behavior that determines how the dog will react to the stimulus that worries him. Supporting the dog in the right way and at the right moment is one of the most important elements of behavioral training for a reactive dog.

Another meeting with Pebbles.
You may remember the photos I posted from the previous meeting. Pebbles reacts much calmer to her surroundings and has improved her behaviour since the last meeting. There would be no progress without her owner's consistent work.

The topic of walking on a loose leash comes up again and again and for some people it may even be a reason not to take their dog for a walk at all. Most often, the basic problem in this case is that the dog does not pay attention to us. Everything around him is more interesting to him than we are. The first and most important step is to gain the dog's attention, then step by step you can work on proper leash walking.
