My second meeting with Poppy🐶 The main topic was the impact of human behavior on dog behavior. When working with a reactive dog, we must remember that it is our reaction and behavior that determines how the dog will react to the stimulus that worries him. Supporting the dog in the right way and at the right moment is one of the most important elements of behavioral training for a reactive dog.

Another meeting with Pebbles.
You may remember the photos I posted from the previous meeting. Pebbles reacts much calmer to her surroundings and has improved her behaviour since the last meeting. There would be no progress without her owner's consistent work.
Great job Zen and Pebbles! 💪💥

No matter how old your dog is, you can still help him feel more confident in his surroundings. You can still reduce or even get rid of reactive behavior. The only thing you need is patience and following certain rules while walking.

The topic of walking on a loose leash comes up again and again and for some people it may even be a reason not to take their dog for a walk at all. Most often, the basic problem in this case is that the dog does not pay attention to us. Everything around him is more interesting to him than we are. The first and most important step is to gain the dog's attention, then step by step you can work on proper leash walking.
What are your ways of teaching your dog to walk on a loose leash?

We were working today on the socialisation of Obi, who does not feel confident around people and dogs. Very often, dogs with similar problems to Obi are also concerned about other elements of the environment (sounds, sudden movement, cars, dogs barking in the distance). In this case, the walk is very stressful for the dog and does not bring a relaxing effect, which causes other behavioral problems not only on the walk, but also at home.
Do you struggling with your dog reactivity and nervousness? What is your way to deal with it?

SOCIALISATION WALK WITH A PUPPY🐕‍🦺

In fact, every walk with a young dog should be aimed at socialising the puppy with its surroundings (traffic, people, animals, etc.), while we focus mainly on draining its energy, which leads to mindless moving forward with constant excitement and pulling on the leash. Socialisation also means sitting quietly with the puppy in one place and teaching it to calmly wait for our decisions about what to do next.

A few photos from our walk with Púca and her humans 😉 Púca is a little nervous when she is on a leash and feels unsure in new places, even a walk around her neighborhood can be a challenge for her. Very often, our approach to such a dog comes down to using a leash to control the dog's nervous and reactive behavior, while we should rather try to give our dog more freedom and a sense of control over the situation, while encouraging the dog verbally and through physical contact. For Púca a long leash works very well.

Hello! A little advice for owners of dogs who react nervously during walks. The reaction can be to various things, cars, people, dogs, etc. Watch your dog's body language. See the video with Pepper (5 years old Shih Tzu) trying to avoid contact with the approaching dog, despite his efforts he is corrected and forced to confront the dog. Pepper tried to approach the trash can, to start sniffing and possibly marking it, he was trying to send calming signals, but was prevented from doing so by the owner. He was left with no choice and this may lead to aggression.

Hello. It's been a while since the last post, but we haven't been idle, here's the proof 😁 Meet Tyson and his family. Tyson is reactive towards dogs, but he is still very young, so socialisation with appropriate walking techniques should give good results. More reports from Tyson's training coming soon.
