PHILADELPHIA, PA: *Please Share!* Icy is a beautiful snowy-white queen who has been up for adoption since the beginning of this year. She is warm and friendly and loves every person she meets. Icy is mostly deaf and feels most comfortable when around people. She does have some separation anxiety, but only in the form of barking. Icy is looking for someone who can provide her a safe and secure forever home for the rest of her life. PLEASE SHARE!
ACCT Philly writes, "Icy was found as a stray in January 2023. She is estimated to be about 8 years old and is deaf or very hard of hearing. She was pretty skinny when she was found, but she has been enjoying lots of food and treats and is now up to a healthy 62 pounds.
Icy loves cuddling, napping, playing, and snacking. While in foster care over the past few months, Icy's fosters have learned that she definitely lived in a home at some point. Icy knows 'sit' and 'paw' (even though she can't hear you say it), she is easy to leash and walk, she is housetrained (though being an older gal, she needs to go out regularly), and she is incredibly people friendly. Icy has never met a stranger and loves greeting people on walks, through store windows, and even in the home.
Icy would do best in a home where someone works from home or where she does not have to spend too many hours alone. She has some separation anxiety, but it is well managed with a regular schedule and just giving her time to settle in. She isn't destructive, but she will bark if left alone for long periods of time.
Icy should be the only pet in the home as she has been leash reactive to other dogs and small animals - she comes in a little too excitable. Icy continues to be easily redirected with treats when passing other dogs on walks and doesn’t pull much. Icy would be happy in a home with many families, but not in a home with very small children because they are too unpredictable and she can't hear to know they are coming.
Icy has chronic ear infections (easily managed with regular cleanings and medication as necessary), some dental disease, and some allergies. Icy would also prefer a home with not too many stairs because she can be a little stiff in the morning or after a long nap.
Icy is located outside Philadelphia, PA and can be adopted anywhere within 10-15 hours. Potential adopters would have to meet her in person."
