Last Hope Animal Charity (LHAC) is a Meath based, not-for-profit, voluntary organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of domestic animals. Our People
Last Hope is composed of volunteers, willing to foster, transport, or otherwise assist in this massive rescue effort. No one is a paid employee. We are all volunteers and pet owners. As the charity is a network of foster home

s, the number of animals LHAC can care for at a given time depends on the number of available fosterers. Who We Work With
We work in conjunction with the new Meath Dog pound, the Meath Dog Wardens, Cavan SPCA, other organisations involved in helping animals and of course members of the public. Our Policies
LHAC actively supports programs such as Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) which help decrease the number of homeless pets. Registered charity number: CHY 17190

DSPCA are offering help to anyone who is having difficulty filling out or understanding the forms that need to be done ASAP for any XL Bully that needs to be registered.

Please read below post.

Attention all XL Bully Owners

As the deadline approaches for an exemption certificate to own an XL Bully type dog in Ireland, we would like to offer our support and help to owners who may be struggling with completing the form or unsure whether they should apply for an exemption.

You can make an appointment using the link below to visit the DSPCA with your dog and chat to a member of our team. This is all new to us too and we will do our best to help guide you in the situation that we all find ourselves in.

Please be advised that in order to receive a Certificate of Exemption, your XL Bully type dog (male or female) must be neutered.

Appointments are limited - https://calendly.com/dog-adoption-consultation/xl-bully-exemption-muzzle-training-support

In addition to this if you are struggling with muzzle training or choosing the right muzzle for your dog stay tuned as we will be hosting a Muzzle Training Day at the DSPCA on the 18th January. Link to book a place to follow soon.

Check Before You Drive: Protect Cats in Cold Weather! 🐾🚗😿❄️

As the temperature drops, cats and small animals often seek warmth under car bomnets or wheel arches. Before starting your engine, take a moment to protect them:

🔸 Tap the bonnet or knock on it to give any hiding cats a chance to escape.
🔸 Look under your car for any signs of movement or fur.
🔸 Be extra vigilant if you park outside or in areas where stray cats roam.

A quick check could save a life this winter. Let’s keep our furry friends safe! 💙

Update - Mister has been adopted.

Hello my name is Mister, and I am looking for my forever family.

I was found straying with a broken pelvis, my finder fostered me for Last Hope and I am now healed and ready to find my new home.

Since coming into care, I've been vet checked, neutered and wormed.

I am approximately 2 years old.

My foster dad says I'm a very playful, curious and loving cat. I like a good cuddle, sitting beside the radiators and on top of fluffy blankets and like my sleep . I would prefer a home without other cats, but I get on well with dogs.

I am ready to come live with you, as long as you’ve had your informal home check done.

If you’d like to adopt me please apply on http://www.lasthope.ie/index.php/i-want-to-adopt

It's cold out there folks!! And with a weather warning in place for freezing temperatures we're asking you to make sure your furries are kept warm! We've known of dogs getting frostbite while sleeping in some sheds!! So please don't presume they are warm enough! Please check and please bring them indoors!!

This poor dog was found on Sunday 29 December at the Headfort Bridge, wet and shivering in the reeds and in horrific condition
The finder brought him home, and Linda Corrigan, a groomer, very kindly groomed him on Sunday evening, they didn't even know he was male until he was groomed. He has been to see our vet and is receiving treatment, the lovely lady who rescued him will give him a home along with her other dog. We want to help get him everything needed and would be grateful any any donation, no matter how small, to get him back to full health. He is only about 2-3 years old.
