Sofia
Sofia.
She came to us at beginning of April. For over 3 months she was in complete shock. Just laid on the shelf and refused to let anyone near her. Hissed and scratched and was just so terribly sad.
Eventually very very slowly she came out of her shock. (With the help of Bach therapy Drops every day in her water. And One of the vet assistants who spoke Russian to her. And me trying very hard to make friends).
Now she is so much better and sweet and loveable.
"No – man's – land" dogs, that is how they name them and that is exactly how they live, very miserable, destitute lives.
Hundreds of packs of dogs, tremendously suffer, under very harsh living conditions, in the Negev area and in the rural north of Israel.
Continuous hunger, thirst, illness, being struck by passing vehicles, are all part of the daily insufferable life of these apparently "transparent" dogs, that are so easily ignored.
Thousands of dogs aimlessly roaming rural areas (especially in the Negev), are the result of long term neglect and disregard. However, their overwhelming anguish, is apparent here and now.
There is no savior for those who suffer and require urgent help, those that were hit by cars and trucks, the sick and the infirm, heavily pregnant and lactating bitches and newborn pups, their days numbered in this horrific and sad survival war.
We need your help, so that we can acquire humane capturing equipment and so help and prevent, the suffering of these "No – man's – land" dogs.
We will not be able to help them all, but surely, we will be able to prevent the immense hardship, of those who are severely affected.
Thanks to your contributions, we hope to equip the activists who help the abandoned animals in the south of Israel, as they face huge shortages of manpower and capturing equipment.
The cost of bringing these animals to the veterinary clinics and the rehabilitation costs of those that are adoption – worthy, are very high.
The price of one humane trap for a large dog, is between 1800 – 2500 NIS and we need quite a few of these traps.
We also require several capture poles, nets, protective gloves and any other essential equipment, which is needed in order to capture these ailing dogs, who require immediate veterinary attention.
Transport and manpower costs are a substantial part of the rescue budget.
Your contributions will enable us to have a financial support network, which will allow us to help more dogs and other organ
Vigilance prevents sorrow and suffering
They don’t want to spend another year in the shelter.
Someone told us a few days ago that there are not enough homes for homeless animals in the world and not enough people in Israel for the number of dogs on the streets looking for homes.
Do you realize how sad that is? Although we know a shelter is not a home, we strive so hard every day to keep their hope and their happiness at the shelter. The SPCA was built with love and a lot of effort, and we pray for the adoption of all of our animals. It is not enough to play with them, to feed them, to hug them, to talk to them, to visit them. We know this is not life for them, and it is heartbreaking.
Since no one ever took the time to talk to them, to tell them they are loved, we speak to them, because they are lovely, gentle, friendly, and sweet. We tell them they will be adopted, that there will be a family for them. It's impossible to look into their eyes and tell them that probably nobody will pick them up, that they may spend months or years in the shelter, but deep down we fear this.
Meanwhile, many people are buying cute and beautiful dogs without realizing that for every dog that they buy, another dog dies alone on the streets.
You will save a life by adopting, and you might find your dream dog at our shelter. The beauties in the video are Soka, Prince, Peter, Lichi, Popay, Oreo and Henri. They are all waiting for a family.
Please help us spreading their voces!🙏🏻🙏🏻
Popay jumps to convince people to adopt him🥺
Popay is so tired of seeing that nobody pick him so he decided to change the strategy and now he gives a little jumping show to everyone that visits the shelter.
Help Popay to find a forever family so he can keep jumping around ❤️

We are at the beginning of winter, a stormy week is ahead and it’s only December 🥺
We want to make sure the whole winter will be warm and cozy for the dogs and cats in the shelter.
A heating lamp can cost up to 200 NIS and the electricity costs are very high and although we would love the electricity company to contribute the power supply to the heating of abandoned dogs and cats, it’s not our reality.
Even with the lamps, please remember that it’s always better at home, with a loving family and not in a cage in a shelter, but as we always say…a shelter is better than the streets.
Please help us buying heating lamps for our animals🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thank you for your support🙏🏻

Telephone conversation with Shoko’s owner 🥺
It’s another sad day at the SPCA, we keep losing our faith in the human being.
A few days ago we received a lost dog and we (like we always do) tried so hard to find his family.
What we are sharing now with you is the phone call we had with his owner.
We are heartbroken and we still can’t believe someone can just abandon a dog, a family member.
Dogs are so pure, so kind, so loyal to their families, even when they don’t receive the love they deserve, they take care of you, they love you no matter what. Their hearts are so kind we will never be able to understand them because they make no harm, they just do good for this horrible and sad world.
While I write this words my heart breaks for Shoko, he doesn’t understand what is going on, why his family left him behind, why he is now in a shelter, sorrounded by strangers.
Shoko will be in adoption soon and he deserves all the love in the world, he deserves a family full of love and with a very big heart.

Shavit and Shemesh
TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE!
A few weeks ago Libby was given to us, 5 months old mixed breed of belgian shepherd, energetic and friendly. She completely swept Yuval and Daniel, a couple from Tel Aviv who adopted Shemesh two years ago, off their feet. Before adopting, they checked with Shemesh and Libby whether they were a perfect match - and they were! Libby left to her new home vaccined, chipped and neutured, with a new name - Shavit.
Yuval and Daniel tell us that Shavit brought lots of positive energive, love and warmth to their home, and that they're really happy they decided to adopt her. At the beginning, Shemesh was a bit scared of his new little sister, but as you can see on the video, after a short while they became besties that show how great it is to grow two dogs together.

Pancho's coming for a visit
THE TAIL DOES NOT FORGET!
Sweet Pancho was given to us few months ago, and until we found the perfect family for him, he got devoted care and became the favourite wiggly one by our team. Pancho is energetic, friendly and has some true charming personality.
Few days ago he came by to get his vaccines at our clinic, and as you can see, he remembered all of the good people that took care of him and showed them lots of love. We were excited just like he was!

Covid-19 Outbreak - exactly the right time to adopt a dog or a cat
Why do we see constant increasing in abandons of pets during the Covid-19 outbreak? There's no reason really! Pets are not contagious with the virus, period. And yet, it's happening. A LOT.
Nevertheless, the financial situation had left our main way to keep on with our important activity dry - the donations.
We invite you to adopt a dog or a cat.
Our spokesman, Gadi Vitner, explains the following interview for ILTV how you can ease the stress and turn on the lights of happiness and love at your home by adopting a pet - NOW MORE THAN EVER.
Also, we ask for your help.
Help us help dozens of cats and dogs that are waiting in our shelter for the right owner, that'd give them a warm loving home forever.
