ביום חמישי בלילה נתקבלה קריאה על ממשטרת ישראל על גורי כלבים שנמצאו ברכב כשהם סגורים בתוך שקים
שוטרי מג"ב לקחו אותם לבסיס שלהם וחיכו לי עד שאגיע!
זה לא מובן מאיליו והרבה כבוד להם!
הם סיפרו שעצרו במחסום רכב מסחרי שבתוכו העבירו כמה כבשים ואז הבחינו בשני שקים שבתוכם נראתה תזוזה
ואז גילו בכל שק שני גורי כלבים מפוחדים כבני כחודשיים. כשהגעתי לבסיס ראיתי שהשוטרים מלטפים ומחבקים
את הגורים לאחר שכבר קיבלו אוכל ומים .
השוטרים נפרדו מהגורים בחיבוקים וליטופים וקרוב לחצות הגעתי חזרה ושיכנתי אותם באחת מאורוות הסוסים שלנו
והם רחרחו בסקרנות את המקום והצטופפו באחת מהפינות כדי להעביר את הלילה .
בשבת בבוקר הועברו הגורים לצער בעלי חיים ירושלים והתקבלו באהבה , חיבוקים ונשיקות על ידי מתנדבות
העמותה ולאחר שהוסדר להם מקום מבודד לבינתיים הגיעו הילדים של המתנדבות והחלו להרגיע ולשחק איתם
במטרה להרגיל אותם לבני אדם ובעיקר להראות להם שיש בני אדם אחרים לא רק כאלה שזרקו אותם בשקים.
הגורים נמצאים בצער בעלי חיים ירושלים

On Thursday night, the Israel Police received a call about puppies that were found in a car closed
in sacks.
The Military police officers took the puppies with them to their base and waited for me to get there.
This is no small matter and is very much appreciated – respect!
They told me that they stopped a commercial vehicle carrying some sheep at a checkpoint. When
they looked inside they noticed two sacks that seemed to be moving and when they checked
inside them, they discovered two scared little puppies about two months old, in each sack.
When I arrived at the base, I saw the officers cuddling and hugging the puppies after they had
already given them food and water.
They said their goodbyes and final hugs and I was on my way back to the sanctuary.
When I got to there it was already close to midnight. I put them in one of our horse stables, and
after curiously sniffing around they huddled together in one of the corners and went right to sleep.
On Saturday morning, the puppies were transferred to the Jerusalem animal shelter and were
received with love, hugs and kisses by the volunteers. After arranging a suitable secluded place
for them for the time being, the volunteers’ kids came to calm them down and play with them to get
them used to positive human touch and teach them that there are good, kind human beings, not
only cruel ones who aim to harm them.
The puppies are in Jerusalem SPCA.

כשהודיעו לנו על חמור פצוע בראשו , שילדים התעללו בו , לא חשבנו שמדובר בחמור נכה עם שבר ישן ברגל שממש גרם לעיוות המפרק. ניתן לראות את העיוות בסרטון בבירור ועל כך נאמר "כל ילד יכול לראות את זה"
אז ילדים ראו ורכבו עליו , על אף מצבו !
למרבה המזל מה שהציל אותו היא הפציעה החמורה והעמוקה בראשו, שלפי הטענה היה תקוע לו שם שאקל ברזל שגרם לפציעה. אילולא הפציעה הזו, אולי היו ממשיכים ורוכבים עליו.
אנו תקווה שהוא יתגבר על הפציעה בראשו ונוכל לצרף אותו לעדר החמורים הנכים הקבוע שלנו , שקשה להעביר אותם לשטחי המרעה בגלל נכותם וחוסר היכולת שלהם להתגונן או לברוח .

When we were told about a donkey with a head injury being abused by
kids, we had no way of knowing that it was a crippled donkey with a
deformed joint caused by an old fracture in his leg. This deformity can
easily be seen clearly in the video. Anyone, even a child can plainly see
it..
But, the kids still rode him in spite of his condition!
Luckily, what saved him was the deep laceration in his head, apparently
caused by a piece of metal. If it weren’t for this wound, they would have
probably kept riding him.
We are hopeful that he will heal from this head injury and that we will
be able to place him together with our resident herd of handicapped
donkeys. These donkeys stay with us because they cannot be transferred
to the grazing grounds where they have to be able to protect themselves
or flee from danger.

אם יש גן עדן...
בסופשבוע שעבר ירדנו לאילת לחגוג את יום הולדתי , היה נחמד מאוד, מזג אוויר נפלא ואחד הדברים שעשה אותנו מאושרים בטיול הוא להיפגש עם עדר החמורים שלנו בקיבוץ יוטבתה, במיוחד את אשתי שלא ראתה אותם הרבה זמן.
התקופה הזו בשנה בה גוזמים את הענפים אחרי הגדיד של התמרים היא התקופה הכי יפה לדעתי , אמצע נובמבר ומזג האוויר נפלא, האדמה מלאה תמרים שנפלו בזמן הגדיד והם ממש כמו סוכריות גם אני לא יכולתי להפסיק ! (סליחה על כך שאני מדבר בפה מלא תמרים ! בסרטון)
האמת לא יכולתי לבקש משהו יותר טוב כחלק מיום ההולדת שלי מלראות את החמורים שלנו נהנים כך.
ותודה לכם בלעדיכם כל זה לא היה קורה!

Last weekend we went down to Eilat to celebrate my birthday, it was very nice, wonderful weather and one of the things that made us happy on the trip was meeting our herd of donkeys at Kibbutz Yotbata near Eilat. Especially my wife who hasn't seen them in a long time.
This time of the year when the branches are pruned after the picking of the dates is the most beautiful time in my opinion, the middle of November and the weather is wonderful, the ground is full of dates that fell during the picking and they are just like candy,The donkeys eat them with great pleasure and you can see that they got fat from eating them.the truth is WE couldn't stop eating them either! (Sorry for talking, with a mouth full of dates, in the video)
I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better as part of my birthday than seeing our donkeys enjoying themselves like this.
And thank you, without you none of this would have happened!

קיבלנו קריאה על חמור שהגיע לאורווה של אחד היישובים , הוא כנראה שוטט באזור וריח הסוסים משך אותו לשם.
בעל החווה יצר איתנו קשר וכשהגענו , ראינו שהוא פצוע ברגלו האחורית , אבל לשמחתנו הוא לא צלע.
בנוסף ראינו שלחמור נחתך הזנב , אבל זה משהו ישן ולא קשור לפציעה ברגל.
על פניו נראה כאילו החמור במצב טוב אך בהחלט צריך להזמין את הווטרינר לבדוק אותו ולראות שאין פגיעה פנימית .
למזלו לא נפגע בצורה רצינית ששוטט כך בכבישים ונקווה שאין פגיעה אחרת .

We received a call about a donkey that showed up at the stables in one of the settlements – the smell of horses must have lured him there.
The owner of the farm contacted us, and when we arrived we saw that one of the donkey's back legs was hurt, but gladly he wasn’t limping.
We also noticed that his tail was cut – but that looked like an old event, unrelated to the leg wound.
All in all, he seems to be in good shape, but we still need to get the vet to examine him and make sure there are no internal injuries. He was lucky to escape major injuries roaming the roads the way he did – hopefully, all is well.

היום יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה
אחרי ערב קשה רגשית, למראה הסרטים והעדויות של הניצולים, כך מידי שנה אנו חווים ונזכרים במראות הקשים והבלתי נתפשים !
ומראות קשים שמתרחשים עכשיו באוקראינה שמשאירים אותי לפחות כבן לניצולי שואה בתחושה קשה ולא כל כך אופטימית.
וכשראינו הבוקר את נינה החתולה ורמי החמור במין דואט אהבה , הרגשתי הקלה במועקה ומעט תקווה שהמין האנושי, אולי גם הוא ילמד לאהוב ולכבד את מי ששונה ממנו.

Today is Hollcaust Remembrance Day - after a difficult and emotional evening watching the heartbreaking testimonials of the survivors, which we witness here every year and now, reliving them as we watch the horrors taking place in Ukraine, I, being the son of Hollocaust survivors, was left with a hollow, pessimistic, sad feeling.
But, this morning, when I saw this interaction of love between Nina the cat and Rami, the donkey I became more optimistic and hopeful that we,the human race, will learn from the animals to love and respect those who are different from ourselves.

כשהשוטרים התקשרו הם סיפרו על סוס רתום לעגלה שעמוסה לעייפה חלקי ברזל , חלקי מנוע שונים ושאר גרוטאות, שבעליו, תושבי שטחים אוספים או גונבים.
השוטרים סיפרו שהתקבלה קריאה מתושבת טייבה על הסוס שבעליו מרביצים ומצליפים בו כדי שימשיך ללכת.
השוטרים שחררו אותו מהעגלה והובילו אותו לתחנת המשטרה בטייבה וחיכו שאגיע.
כשהגעתי לתחנה ראיתי שהסוס עומד ולא זז על אף שהיה משוחרר, ראשו מושפל ונראה מותש לגמרי ולכן כנראה הצליפו והכו אותו כדי שימשיך ללכת.
השוטרים סיפרו שעמד כך מאז שהגיע לתחנה. הם הודו לנו על שהגענו לקחתו ואנו הודינו להם על האכפתיות, על זה שחיכו לנו איתו כשעה עד שנגיע.
לקחנו את הסוס וכשירד בחצר העמותה וראה את שאר הסוסים, צהל צהלה ארוכה והוא היה נראה שונה לא כמו אותו סוס עם מבט מושפל שראינו בתחנת המשטרה.

When the cops called, they told me about a horse tied to a wagon heavily loaded with metal parts, such as engine parts and other scraps – the kind that is often collected or stolen by wagon owners from the occupied territories.
The police received a call from a resident of Taibe concerning a horse being continuously abused and whipped to force it to keep going.
The cops untied the horse from the heavy wagon, led it to the nearest police station in Taibe and waited for us to arrive.
We took him to our sanctuary. As soon as he got off the trailer and saw the other horses, he let out a loud neigh. His whole demeanor completely changed then- he no longer looked defeated and humiliated as when we first saw him at the police station.

זהירות תמונה קשה!
כך הסתיים מרדף אחרי תושבי קלקיליה שעסקו בגניבה בג'לג'וליה , הופתעו וניסו לברוח!
הסוס לא הצליח להסתובב בצומת ודהר לעבר רכב חונה וכנראה ניסה לקפוץ מעליו וכך שבר את החלון הקדמי ונכנס לתוך הרכב עם רגליו הקדמיות.
למזלו הוא לא שבר אף עצם בגופו אך סבל מחתכים רבים ברגליו שחלקם גרמו לפגיעה בכלי דם גדולים שדיממו ויצרו שלולית דם .
התושבים השכנים חבשו אותו בתחבושות מאולתרות שהצליחו לעצור את מרבית הדימום.
כשהגענו למקום הוא היה קשור לעמוד חשמל ומבדיקה ראשונית הוא נראה חיוני , דרך על ארבעת רגליו וגם שצעד בדרך לקרון הוא נראה כאוב אך לא נראה כי משהו נשבר.
היה פה נס , הסוס יכול היה לשבור רגל , מפרקת או לאבד דם מכלי ראשי שהיה יכול לגרום למוות מהיר.
ועוד נס שאף אדם לא נפגע , הרכב שנפגע חנה בצד ואף אדם לא שהה בו.
הזעקנו את הווטרינר שלנו ד"ר רוני חאיק
שהגיע מיד והוריד את התחבושות המאולתרות והחל לטפל בפצעים.
נתגלתה רגישות בקרפוס (ברך)ברגל שמאל קדמית והווטרינר ערך סדרת צילומי רנטגן אך לא נמצא שבר.
הסוס קיבל סדרת זריקות כגון אנטיטטנוס , אנטיביוטיקה ומשככי כאבים .
בסוף הטיפול נחבשו הפצעים והסוס הוכנס לאחת האורוות ובדרך אף החל לצהול לעבר הסוסים מראה את זכריותו ומודיע על הגעתו.
הוא שמח לראות את ערימת החציר הירוק והרענן שהכנו לו באורווה ומיד התחיל לאכול ממנו. משככי הכאבים הורידו את כאביו והמסכן היה כנראה מאוד רעב.
אנא עזרו לנו להמשיך ולטפל ולשקם את הסוס וכשנוכל לצאת ולהציל עוד סוסים וחמורים.

This is how the chase ended!
Some thieves from the Arab town of Kalkilya were surprised and apprehended in the act at the town of Jaljulia and they desperately tried to get away.
Their horse couldn’t manage the abrupt turn at the junction because there was a car in his way. He probably tried to jump over it and ended up smashing the windscreen with his front legs.
Luckily, he didn’t break any bones but he is suffering from many deep cuts in his legs, some of which hit blood vessels and caused extensive bleeding.
The neighbors bandaged him up with some makeshift bandages and succeeded in stopping most of the bleeding.
When we arrived, we found him tied up to a post. He seemed vital and was using all 4 legs. While walking to the trailer we could tell he was in pain it didn’t look like anything was broken.
This was a MIRACLE – He could have broken a leg, or his neck, or lost a great deal of blood if a main artery had been severed.
Another miracle was that no people were hurt – the car that was smashed was parked and there was nobody in it.

We immediately called in our vet, Ronnie Hayek, to asses and take care of him. He arrived quickly, removed the temporary bandaging and treated his wounds.
Some sensitivity was detected on his front left carpus (knee) so the vet took some x-rays but luckily no fracture was found.
He received a series of shots (antibiotics, anti-tetanus and pain killers), got new, clean bandages and started feeling much better. On the way to the stable he started calling the other horses, announcing his arrival and his manhood.
He was very happy to see the pile of fresh green hay we had prepared for him in the stable and immediately began to eat from it. The pain killers had kicked in and he was very hungry.

Please help us continue to care for him and rehabilitate him, and to continue our rescue mission and help more horses and donkeys in need.

אתמול בשעות הצהריים, התקבלה קריאה על חמור שמשוטט בישוב נוף איילון .
ביקשנו שמישהו יהיה אתו עד שנגיע או לחילופין יקשור אותו.
לאחרונה עברתי ניתוח בקע ואסור לי להרים משא כבד ולכן אשתי היקרה היא זו שנגשה איליו והעלתה אותו לקרון הסוסים .
בהזדמנות זו אבקש את סליחתכם על שלא הייתי זמין כל כך בחודש האחרון, אך אני מרגיש יותר טוב ובקרוב נקווה שאחזור לפעילות מלאה.
החמור נראה במצב טוב וייתכן ששייך לתלמידי הישיבה בקיבוץ שעלבים הסמוך אך הסכנה שנערים אחרים ינסו לקחת אותו ואז הוא יכול לעבור התעללות או להשתחרר ולהידרס על ידי רכב ובתוך גם לגרום בפגיעה בבני אדם.
החמור לא מסורס ולכן יהיה מבודד באורווה נפרדת בינתיים.

This afternoon we received a call about a stray donkey at Nof Ayalon.
We asked that someone will stay with him until we get there, or that they tie him up to keep him safe.
Lately I underwent a hernia operation and I am not allowed to lift heavy weights. This is why my dear wife went to collect him with me and loaded him onto the trailer.
I'd like to take this opportunity to ask your forgiveness for not being available in the last month – but I am feeling better every day and hopefully I'll be able to resume normal activity soon.
The donkey seems to be in good condition. Its possible that he belongs to the Yeshiva students in Kibbutz Shalabim, but the danger is that other boys will try to take him, ride or abuse him. Also, if he breaks free, he can easily get run over at a nearby road, causing lethal damage to himself and to people driving by.
Our donkey is not neutered and will be kept in a separate stable for now, until we are able to do the procedure.
Our maintenance expenses are rocket high and we are finding it extremely difficult to keep up the rescues. Please donate to keep us going.

החמור ממזכרת בתיה !
לא יודע לאן הוא רצה לנסוע , אבל הוא הגיע לתחנת הרכבת של מזכרת בתיה ופשוט עמד שם.
כשהגענו לתחנה הבחנו גם שהוא לא קשור , מה הביא אותו לשם ולמה נשאר על אף שלא היה קשור זאת כנראה כבר לא נדע.
מה שאנחנו כן יודעים שלמזלו הוא לא נדרס , לא נלקח על ידי נערים שהיו יכולים להתעלל בו .
מדובר בחמור זכר לא מסורס , בוגר כבן 10 ,לא נראו סימני התעללות או פציעה והוא במצב טוב.
כרגע הוא יהיה מבודד משאר החמורים עד שיעבור סירוס.
אנא עזרו לנו בהוצאות הסירוס והחיסונים כדי שנוכל להמשיך ולהציל את החמור הבא ולהמשיך ולהאכיל את כל החמורים שנמצאים בעמותה.

I don’t know where he wanted to travel to, but he arrived at Mazkeret Batia train station and just stood there..

When we arrived at the station, we noticed he wasn’t even tied up.
What brought him there and what made him wait there? It seems we will never know.

What we do know is that it was very lucky that he didn’t get run-over and that he wasn’t taken by a group of boys who may have tried to ride him or abuse him, which is what happens so often.

Our guy is a male donkey, about 10 years old. He's in good shape with no abuse marks or injuries on his body.

At the sanctuary we have to keep him isolated for a while, until he's neutered.

Please help us with the neutering and vaccination costs so that we can keep saving the next donkey and continue to feed and care for those already at our sanctuary.

Another year has passed, and it hasn’t been an easy one – but it is almost behind us now and we should look ahead to the future.
Every morning when we arrive, the donkeys welcome us with a braying choir, so happy to see us, and we are very happy to see them too!
So, we wanted to thank you because all this could not happen without your help!
Yes, those of you who adopted a donkey on our website, for 100, 50, 30 or even 10 NIS – you make it all happen.
Most of you have been with us for a long time – some as far back as 2007, the year we established the Pegasus Society. Some joined later on… but it is still not enough and we need you to share this post so that others may read and join us and help us rescue, feed and care for them all. Seeing new names on our donor list every month gives us the strength to go on.
Some donations have stopped coming because the credit card expired, or was lost or changed – please check to make sure yours is still going through.
We want to take this opportunity to apologize to all those of you who approached us and were not answered. Sometimes it's because we are already about the situation and are on our way to rescue. Its not always possible for us to get back to everyone because we are few and our hands are full of work caring for our rescues, feeding them, dressing their wounds, cleaning their pens and giving them as much TLC as possible.
We don’t have a secretary, a driver, people who raise donations or handle our media – we pay only one salary and its for the person who takes care of our animals full time.
All of your donations go directly to caring for our rescues including veterinary care and meds!
But as I said, it is still not enough and it is hard to imagine a situation whereby we won't be able to feed or care for them – this danger is hovering above our head constantly and worries us greatly.
So please, share this and maybe we can get more supporters for our cause and we can continue doing this together.
We hope and wish that 2022 will be calmer and healthier for both animals and humans.

רובכם אתנו כבר הרבה זמן , חלקכם כבר מ2007 , השנה בה הקמנו את העמותה, חלקכם הצטרפו במהלך השנים , אך כנראה שזה לא מספיק ואנחנו צריכים שתשתפו את הפוסט בתקווה שעוד אנשים יצטרפו ויאמצו חמור באתר שלנו כדי שנוכל להאכיל את כולם להמשיך לצאת ולחלץ עוד וגם שנדע שאתם אתנו , לראות את שמות התורמים כל חודש מחדש, זה נותן לנו כוח להמשיך.
חלק מהתרומות הופסקו בגלל סיום תוקף כרטיס, אובדן כרטיס או החלפה, אז אנא מכם בדקו זאת !
בהזדמנות זו נבקש סליחה מכל אלה ששאלו , הודיעו התריעו ולא חזרנו אליהם. אז רק שתדעו כי לפעמים זה בגלל שקיבלנו כבר הרבה הודעות בנושא ויצאנו לשטח ולא יכולנו לענות לכולם ורק שתדעו כי אנחנו רואים ומתייחסים אך אנחנו עושים הכול לבד, מאכילים, מנקים , מטפלים בפצועים וכמובן גם הרבה ליטופים והתייחסות אל כל מי שבא לבקש וכך לפעמים לא נותר לנו זמן לענות לכם .
אז זה קורה כי אין לנו מזכירה, נהג, מגייסי תרומות, אחראי על פייסבוק ומדיה וכל מיני בעלי תפקידים.
יש רק משכורת אחת בלבד והיא למטפל !
וכך כל התרומות שלכם הולכות ישירות אל הסוסים והחמורים למזון טיפולים ותרופות!
אבל גם זה לא מספיק והמחשבה שלא נוכל להעניק להם את האוכל , הטיפול הרפואי , מרחפת באוויר כל הזמן וזו לא הרגשה נעימה וגורמת לנו לדאגה תמידית!
אז אנא שתפו ואולי יצטרפו למשפחת פגסוס עוד מאמצים וביחד נוכל להמשיך!!!

Another year has passed, and it hasn’t been an easy one – but it is almost behind us now and we should look ahead to the future.
Every morning when we arrive, the donkeys welcome us with a braying choir, so happy to see us, and we are very happy to see them too!
So, we wanted to thank you because all this could not happen without your help!
Yes, those of you who adopted a donkey on our website, for 100, 50, 30 or even 10 NIS – you make it all happen.
Most of you have been with us for a long time – some as far back as 2007, the year we established the Pegasus Society. Some joined later on… but it is still not enough and we need you to share this post so that others may read and join us and help us rescue, feed and care for them all. Seeing new names on our donor list every month gives us the strength to go on.
Some donations have stopped coming because the credit card expired, or was lost or changed – please check to make sure yours is still going through.
We want to take this opportunity to apologize to all those of you who approached us and were not answered. Sometimes it's because we are already about the situation and are on our way to rescue. Its not always possible for us to get back to everyone because we are few and our hands are full of work caring for our rescues, feeding them, dressing their wounds, cleaning their pens and giving them as much TLC as possible.
We don’t have a secretary, a driver, people who raise donations or handle our media – we pay only one salary and its for the person who takes care of our animals full time.
All of your donations go directly to caring for our rescues including veterinary care and meds!
But as I said, it is still not enough and it is hard to imagine a situation whereby we won't be able to feed or care for them – this danger is hovering above our head constantly and worries us greatly.
So please, share this and maybe we can get more supporters for our cause and we can continue doing this together.
We hope and wish that 2022 will be calmer and healthier for both animals and humans.

הסבלנות משתלמת !

לכל מי שלא ראה את הפוסט הקודם אז מיני היא תינוקת שחילצנו והצמדנו לאמא עם תינוקת באותו גיל.
אז מיני התחילה לינוק מהאמא המאמצת שלה ומשחקת עם האחות החורגת שלה וגם יונקת איתה ביחד.
הפתעה נעימה, מרגשת ומחממת לב שכזאת, לא יכולנו לבקש לסוף השבוע החורפי המתקרב אלינו
שיהיה לכם סופשבוע חמים ורגוע

Patience is rewarded!
For those of you who haven't seen the previous post, Mini is a female baby donkey who was separated from her mother and rescued by us last week.
Mini started nursing from her surrogate mother and is happily playing with her new sister!!!
This was a wonderful, exciting, heart-warming surprise and we couldn’t have asked for a better gift just ahead of the cold, wintery weekend we are expecting.

הכנסנו את מיני, כך קראנו לתינוקת החדשה, אל תוך מתחם קטן בו נמצאת אתון צעירה שהמליטה גם היא להפתעתנו לפני כחודשיים , ידענו שהסיכויים שתקבל את מיני קטנים אך לפחות שלא תהיה לבד או עם שאר החמורים שמציקים לפעמים. הנסיונות של מיני לינוק או להתקרב לעירה הקטנה של האתון לא הצליחו בינתיים אבל לפעמים צריך קצת זמן.
בינתיים מיני אוכלת חציר, תערובת ואפילו תפוחים ונקווה שעוד מעט תוכל לשחק עם האתון הקטנה שהן בעצם באותו הגיל.
ניסינו לתת למיני לינוק אך היא לא הסכימה לגעת בבקבוק.
בינתיים התחלנו לתת לה אבקת חלב בתוך התערובת כך שהיא תקבל את כל מה שהיא צריכה כדי להמשיך לגדול טוב.

We placed little Mini, as we named her, into a small enclosure with a young female and her foal who is about 2 months old. We knew that the chances of her accepting Mini would be slim, but at least here, Mini is not alone and isn't bothered by other donkeys who could potentially pester her.
Mini's attempts to approach the female and maybe suckle failed so far, but sometimes a little patience can be rewarded.
In the meantime, Mini is eating hey, horse feed and even apples. We are hoping that she and the other little one, who is almost exactly her age, will become friends and maybe play together.
We tried to bottle-feed her, but she refused to touch the bottle. So, in the meantime we started adding some milk powder to her feed so that she will get all the nourishment she needs to continue to grow nicely.
We'll continue to update you of her progress.

כשהגענו למעבר שער אפרים בעקבות הקריאה שקיבלנו הבוקר ,(ראו בפוסט הקודם) הבנו שני דברים
1. שזה לא חמור אלא אתון פצפונית בת חודשיים, שלושה.
2.שהיא עדיין צריכה לינוק!
העובד הערבי במחסום שממש נקשר אליה מאוד והבטיח לנו שיחפש את האמא שלה.
אנחנו ננסה להניק אותה מבקבוק או שנוסיף לה אבקת חלב ייעודית למזון.
בכל מקרה הפצפונת מדהימה וחמודה קצת בלחץ מבני אדם ובכלל עצובה בלי אמא שלה.
שמנו אותה עם כמה חמורים מבוגרים שתוכל לאט לאט להשתלב ומצד שני לא להרגיש לבד בעולם.
מאוד מקווים שאמא שלה תמצא ונעשה איחוד משפחות.

When we reached the Efraim border crossing following the call we received earlier this morning (see previous post), we realized 2 things:
1. Our tiny donkey is a baby female, about 2-3 months old.
2. She should still be nursing from her mother.
The Arab worker at the barrier, who really became attached to her, promised that he would keep a look-out for her mother.
We will try to bottle feed her and if that doesn’t work, we will add the suitable milk power to her feed.
In any case, this little one is sweet and amazing, a little stressed by human interaction and generally sad and missing her mother.
At the sanctuary, we placed her with some of our older donkeys for company. This should help her socialize and fit in better so she will not feel all alone in the world.
We really hope that her mother will be found and they can be re-united.

קיבלנו קריאה על חמור קטנטן שהגיע למעבר סחורות שער אפרים הצמוד לעיר הפלשתינאית טול כרם.
החמור נצפה במצלמות שהוא מגיע לשטח המעבר והבחורה מהמעבר שהתקשרה אלינו ביקשה שנבוא לקחת אותו , היא אמרה שייתכן ואימו הייתה שם בשטח אך נלקחה על ידי הפלשתינאים.
ביקשתי שיכניסו אותו למקום בטוח שלא ימשיך להסתובב עד שנגיע ואני יוצא לדרך מייד. נעדכן אתכם בהמשך.

We received a call about a tiny donkey who somehow reached the merchandise checkpoint, close to the Palestinian town of Tul-Karem.
The donkey was detected by the cctv cameras when he reached the checkpoint and they called us to ask if we could come and get him from there. The girl said that his mother may have been out there somewhere, but seems to have been taken away by the Palestinians.
I asked that he be placed in a safe place until we could reach him, and we immediately headed out there. I will keep you posted..

חמור מאופקים וכלבת דוברמן לאימוץ

אתמול בשבת אני מקבל טלפון מנערה מודאגת שמספרת לי על חמור שהובא על ידי נערים לעיר אופקים ונערים מתעללים בו. היא לא ידעה בדיוק היכן הוא נמצא באותו רגע וביקשתי שתודיע לי כשתדע את מיקומו. היום בצהריים התקשרו נערים שסיפרו שיש להם חמור בעיר אופקים והם רוצים שאקח אותו. ביקשתי שישלחו לי תמונה ואכן זה היה נראה כאותו חמור. כשהגענו לאופקים יצאו אלינו חבורת נערים עם חמור צעיר כבן שנה וחצי ואחד מהם סיפר שהביא אותו מבסיס הצבא בצאלים והלך אתו ברגל 10 שעות עד לעיר אופקים.
הנערים סיפרו כי אתמול נער אחד לקח את החמור הכה אותו ורכב עליו והם ביקשו שאקח אותו אלינו לעמותה כדי שלא התעללו בו.
במקום גם הייתה אישה שבקשה שאקח גם כלבה שהיא מטפלת בה אך גרה ברחוב וביקשה שאקח גם אותה.
מדובר בכלבת דוברמן בת 5 מעוקרת ובעלת אופי נוח. אז אם מישהו מוכן לאמץ אותה לבית טוב אנא הודיעו לנו.
ג'נגו כך קראו לו הנערים הוא חמור נחמד בן כשנה וחצי, לא מסורס ולכן הוא הוכנס לבידוד עד שנסרס אותו.
שמחתי מאוד לראות את האכפתיות של הנערים שספרו שהם עוקבים אחרי הפעילות שלנו ואף הכירו חמורים שנמצאים אצלנו, אחד מהם אף התקשר לאחר שנסענו והביע רצון להתנדב אצלנו.

Yesterday (Saturday) I received a phone call from a worried girl who told me about a donkey being abused and hurt in the town of Ofakim by some boys. She couldn’t tell me his exact location, so I asked her to find out and let me know. Today, in the early afternoon, some boys called and told me they are in possession of a donkey in Ofakim and asked me to come and get him. They sent me a photo and it looked like the same donkey the girl told me about the day before.
When we arrived, we were met by a group of boys leading a young donkey, about 18 months old. One of them told me that he brought the donkey all the way from Tze’elim army base, and that he walked with him for 10 hrs, until they reached Ofakim.
The boys told me that some other kid took the donkey from them the day before, rode him roughly and beat him up . They asked me to take him away from there to save him from further abuse.
There was also a lady there who asked us to take a dog who had been living on the streets and that she had been feeding. Turns out the dog is a neutered, sweet natured, Doberman girl. If anyone knows of a good forever home for her please let us know.
Jango (this is the donkey’s name, given to him by the boys) is a sweet 18 months old, un-neutered male donkey. He was placed in isolation at the sanctuary until we take care of neutering him.
I was very happy to learn how involved and caring the boys were. It seems they had been following us and our activities and knew about our donkeys and their stories. One of them called me later-on and asked to volunteer at the sanctuary.
