I have complained to all the respective authorities about grave concern regarding the reported killing of approximately 30+ street dogs in the ASE Campus, Bangalore, particularly on the South side of the campus, allegedly by army personnel. This incident has come to our notice, and we are deeply disturbed by the disregard for animal rights and the violation of existing laws and orders protecting animals.
It is essential to emphasize that the Supreme Court of India, in one of its landmark judgments, has unequivocally recognized that animals have fundamental rights, including the "right to life," "right to freedom," "right to live with dignity," and the "right to food." Moreover, the central government has issued orders explicitly prohibiting government officials from engaging in any form of animal cruelty.
Our beloved Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, once stated that the progress of a nation can be gauged by the treatment of its animals. Therefore, it is indeed disheartening to learn that members of the Indian Army, whose noble duty is to protect our nation and its natural assets, including animals, are allegedly involved in the killing of street dogs within their own campus.
In light of these deeply troubling allegations, I kindly request that your esteemed ministry take immediate cognizance of this matter. We urge you to:
1. Initiate an urgent investigation into the reported incidents of cruelty towards street dogs within the ASE Campus, Bangalore.
2. Ensure that injured animals receive immediate medical attention and treatment.
3. Conduct post-mortem examinations for deceased animals to determine the cause of death and hold those responsible accountable.
4. Implement strict measures to educate and sensitize army personnel regarding the importance of animal welfare and adherence to existing laws.
5. Enforce appropriate disciplinary actions against any individuals found guilty of cruelty to animals in accordance with the law.
We believe that addressing this issue promptly and effectively is not only a moral obligation but also a reflection of our commitment to upholding the principles of justice and compassion enshrined in our constitution and legal framework.
We look forward to your swift action and intervention in this matter to ensure that justice is served and that such incidents are prevented from recurring in the future.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
Sincerely,
Thanking you
