House with 10000 Plants Earning 70 lakhs every Year.

Ramveer Singh of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, found out in 2009 that a friend's uncle had been diagnosed with cancer. Further investigation revealed that the chemical-laced veggies were the source of the life-threatening sickness.

"This terrified me, therefore I made the decision to protect my family away from such dangers," he says. Ramveer, a former full-time journalist, chose to leave his profession and devote his time to growing organic veggies on his ancestral estate. "The farm is 40 kilometres from Bareilly, and I travelled there to cultivate veggies and expand the land's productivity," he told The Better India.

Ramveeer eventually began working as a freelance journalist while also selling organic farm food commercially. He visited Dubai in 2017-18 for an agriculture-related event and saw hydroponics growing. "I was intrigued by the method of farming." It didn't need soil to grow and was less prone to pest infestation. Furthermore, it conserved nearly 80% of the water needed for plant growth," he claims.

For the next few weeks, Ramveer stayed longer and studied farming practises from the farmers. He decided to try out the farming approach at home after he returned. His passion for hydroponics has led him to turn his three-story home into a hydroponics farm that earn him in millions.

Ramveer began installing hydroponics systems in his balcony and open places utilising pipes and other infrastructure. "For the farm, I installed two methods: Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) and Deep Flow Technique" (DFT). "At the moment, the farm spans 750 square metres and houses over 10,000 plants," he continues.

Okra, chilies, capsicum, bottle gourd, tomatoes, cauliflower, spinach, cabbage, strawberries, fenugreek, and green peas are some of the vegetables he farms. "I use hydroponics to raise all of my seasonal crops. The system is made up of PVC pipes and works by gravity to circulate the water. By injecting nutrients like as magnesium, copper, phosphorus, nitrogen, zinc, and others into the flowing water, the arrangement ensures that about 16 nutrients, such as magnesium, copper, phosphorus, nitrogen, zinc, and others, reach the plants. "The process saves 90% of the water used," he explains.

Ramveer considers hydroponic farming to be healthier and more effective than organic farming. "I believe that vegetables cultivated under hydroponics have a higher nutritional absorption rate.

Furthermore, there is no risk of soil pollution because a neighbouring farmer who practises chemical farming may expose soil or plants to chemicals or pesticides while spraying chemicals or pesticides in conventional farming. He claims that "hydroponics farming is free of dangerous chemicals."

Ramveer continues to work on his farm, which is 40 kilometres from his home, but he is no longer reliant on it. "I don't have to travel a big way to receive my weekly veggie supply. He continues, "I collect it fresh from my farm and utilise it in the kitchen."

Passers-by were taken aback by his amazing and unique farm, which featured a concrete structure covered in veggies that hung over the edges. “Many people enquired about the device and urged that it be installed in their homes. He adds, "I've helped at least ten people by establishing a hydroponic system for them."
The farmer founded the Vimpa Organic and Hydroponics enterprise, which brings in Rs 70 lakh per year.
Ramveer's hydroponics installation recently protected a farmer's produce from floods in Bihar.

"During the floods, the majority of the farmers lost their crops. "However, I employed the hydroponics technology to cultivate bitter gourd and was rescued during the floods because the hydroponics system was installed safely above ground," Sanjay explains.
He goes on to say that when the market first opened, the average selling price of the vegetable skyrocketed. "The average rates per kilo are between Rs 30-40." But the shortfall pushed the price up to Rs 80 per kilo, which I took advantage of," Sanjay says.

Ramveer is now satisfied with cultivating soilless vegetables. "I'm delighted that my efforts and unique farming method have assisted myself and many others in growing veggies without the use of dangerous pesticides," he says.
