I used to train using aversive training methods. I used to believe dogs were pack animals and you have to be the pack leader. I used to believe that dogs needed a negative consequence for "wrong" behaviour. I used to believe clicker training was a gimmick and positive reinforcement training didn't work on "serious" breeds. I used to have a moral judgement on dog's behaviour.
I was wrong in all these things.
I changed my mind because I started listening to and learning from the right people. Academics and practioners in the field who had a different view to all of my beliefs. They knew more than me so I learned from them and endeavour to pass on that knowledge to you, here.
Rejecting aversive training methods and outdated notions about our dog's is not close minded, it's the opposite.
