Mr. Mukesh Sharma of Kalimpong News Express informed us about a dog that was initially seen roaming around Thakurbari for a week and is now wandering on the main road. The dog has a collar, indicating it likely had an owner. It may have been abandoned or strayed away. If anyone has any information about this dog, please help us.

We were informed about two identical-looking dogs that were abandoned on Atisha Road early yesterday morning. One of them is still wandering in the area, but the other is missing. It's evident they are not local dogs, as one of them bears a collar mark around its neck, indicating they are likely house pets.
If anyone has any information, please contact us as soon as possible. We're unsure if they were abandoned by their owners, if someone was up to mischief, or if there's someone who dislikes dogs involved in this situation.

Let's wrap up the day on a positive note. This morning, we shared about Floppy, who went missing during his camping trip but has now been found. At approximately 7:30 am, Floppy made his way into Mrs. Sushilta Lama's house at Dhendup Dara B**g B***y. Mrs. Lama graciously took care of Floppy until she saw our post on our page in the evening, prompting her to contact us immediately. We then informed Floppy's owners, who were overjoyed to receive this wonderful news. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Sushilta Lama for ensuring Floppy's safety until his owners could come to collect him.
Our Bakulu is still searching for a loving home. He’s a 2 1/2 month old male puppy with beautiful eyes and a loving nature.
The missing husky has been happily reunited with its rightful owner, Mr. Nigam Basnet, a resident of Chibbo B***y. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mr. Mark Namchu for informing us, and our gratitude extends to the family who ensured the dog's safety during this time.
A male dog named Floppy from sadhu dhara has disappeared while camping with his owner and has not been found since. They were last seen at Reli Tinchuley, Kalimpong. If anyone has any information about Floppy, please inform us as soon as possible. Floppy's owner, Mr. Nima Lepcha, and his family are searching desperately for him. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
This morning, Mr. Mark Namchu notified us that a husky wandered into his neighbor's house. If anyone knows the owner, please inform us to facilitate reuniting the dog with its original owners. The location of the dog is near the rehab center.

Great news! Our lost dog has been happily reunited with her owners. She went missing near Haat Bazaar after being let out for her usual business. Numerous people reported sightings around 7th mile. Fortunately, she's now back home, and we're grateful to the kind family that provided shelter for her overnight. Thanks to everyone who helped in the search!
If you recognize this dog, please let us or the owner know. The dog entered a home in 9th mile, where the kind resident took it in and notified us. The dog wears a collar and appears unwell. We urgently seek your assistance in reuniting her with her rightful owners.
Yesterday, around 4:30 pm on January 12th, two girls from Purbong rushed their 6-month-old puppy, DOGKY, to our clinic at Dream Theatre. Seeing the pup struggling to breathe and with a stretched neck, we feared the worst.
His body temperature was 93 degrees, which is extremely low…at the end of yesterdays treatment it had gone up a few degrees but still failed to cross the 100 mark.
We advised the girls to keep DOGKY warm to pull through the night.
This morning his temperature was 102.0 which was really good.
When questioned about the delay, the girls tearfully explained they had been searching for a clinic since the afternoon. They initially went to Adarsh Medicals on the main road, then were directed to their sister concern shop near Kanchan. Frustratingly, they were sent to Biralu Kothi, which was closed, they were then recommended to go to Veterinary hospital near children’s park which was also closed.. In desperation, they reached Dr. Pandey's clinic, who advised them to bring the pup to us.
Despite the dire situation, we promptly began treatment, and with hopeful prayers, DOGKY's condition improved rapidly. This morning, they visited our Poshyore clinic due to slight weakness. After administering treatment, DOGKY, now full of energy, charmingly growled at me. A hearty meal of chicken liver, soup, and rice brought joy as he devoured the entire bowl.
Reflecting on the ordeal, it's evident that guiding them to the right place initially would have spared DOGKY from such suffering and his owners from a frantic search to save their beloved pup.

Lama of Lower Sadhu Dhara reported a sick black dog outside her house. Despite offering food and water, the dog refused and was in distress. Three options were provided for its care, but there was no further communication after suggesting bringing the dog to a closer location for treatment. Sadly, on January 1st, 2024, the dog was found abandoned and in pain on the roadside. Efforts were made to bring it back for treatment, but unfortunately, it passed away shortly after receiving medical assistance. Even though he died a painful death but he breathed his last knowing it was not alone in its final moments.
I urge all self-proclaimed animal lovers to understand that caring for animals isn't a part-time commitment. It's a continuous responsibility that demands care and compassion round the clock, every day of the year. True love for animals involves being there for them, whether they're sick and vulnerable or in good health.

Electronics shop 10th mile.The shop owner kindly offered food and water, and the kitten grew attached, refusing to leave the owner's side. Since the owner lives in a rented place and faced issues with neighbors, the kitten was taken to an animal shelter. Presently, the kitten resides there. If anyone knows the rightful owners, please inform them.
Otherwise, the kitten is available for adoption, seeking a caring and loving home.

Deep Raj Pradhan of Monarch Hotel reached out to the organization seeking help in locating his friend's beloved pet. This essay delves into the events that unfolded during the kidnapping incident and the subsequent efforts made by Maitri Animal Care to reunite the dog with its owner. Body: The initial call from Deep Raj Pradhan to Maitri Animal Care set the wheels in motion for a search operation. The urgency and heartfelt concern in his voice revealed the profound bond between humans and their animal companions. The golden retriever, a gentle and loyal creature, was cherished by its owner, making it all the more crucial to find the missing canine. Upon receiving the distressing news, We acted swiftly, instructing Mr. Pradhan to inquire about the dog's whereabouts in the vicinity of 8.5 Mile Kalimpong. Unfortunately, the responses from the local community were not encouraging. Every person asked claimed ignorance about the dog's disappearance, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and frustration. Nevertheless, we remained undeterred in our commitment to finding the missing golden retriever. Fortunately, a breakthrough in the search for the missing golden retriever came when an individual, who wished to remain anonymous, provided a valuable lead. One of The reasons why we push for kittens and puppies to be adopted is because very rarely adult cats & dogs get adopted. People involved in this story are •Ms. Ann Decourcy , a resident of Siliguri Tea Auction Road. •Mr. Bimal Rai - fire fighter from Kalimpong - Maitri member •Mr. Nibir Karmakar - a passerby •Full crew of Fire brigade Divisional fire office S.F. Road Siliguri. •Tea auction road Locals who came to help. On her way back from church at 8:40am Ms.Decourcy saw a bull that had fallen into a drain, was unable to get himself out and was stuck badly. Her first response was to contact a renowned animal NGO in Siliguri. But to her dismay they neither answered her calls nor did they reply back to her messages on WhatsApp and the messages were being read. This was not the first time that this particular NGO has failed to render help. Ms. Decourcy then called her daughter who’s also the secretary of Maitri and narrated the entire episode. By then people had started to gather around the bull, thinking how to free him. A gentleman named Mr. Nibir Karmakar was passing by in his vehicle with his family. He immediately stopped his car and was to concerned. He was there throughout the whole rescue mission. Trying to help in his own little way. In the mean time we contacted Mr. Bimal Rai who forwarded us the contact number of the fire station in Siliguri, and he got to work from Kalimpong on this case. Ms. Decourcy called that number up and registered a complain. Within 20min the entire team of fire fighters reached the location. They gauged the situation, had a quick discussion and in no time they got to work. With excellent communication and coordination amongst the fire fighters and locals they managed to free the bull within minutes. The residents / onlookers / passer-by’s All applauded the great team work of everyone present there. We can’t thank the Fire Department enough for their quick response and their service. This video is about LUCY who lives in the Crown Lodge Area. Maitri got a call from Mrs. Sunita Rehman around 8:30am informing us about a dog who was badly injured & was lying on pile of sand near the public toilet. Our chairperson Ms. Mingyur Tamang reached the spot. On superficial examination it seemed that someone had hit her as there was a huge gash on her neck and other smaller wounds on her body. She called Mrs. Doma Bhutia ( a die hard animal lover ) along with Mrs. Taslima Rehman to help her catch Lucy who was putting up a fight. After many failed attempts they contacted Dr. Pandey who was kind enough to send the shelter vehicle along with some help. In no time Lucy was caught and taken to the shelter where she underwent treatment for a few days. She was dropped back to her usual spot , the spot she knows and calls it her home all hale & hearty. This rescue wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the following people…. 1) Mrs. Sunita Rehman 2) Mrs. Taslima Rehman 3) Mrs Doma Bhutia 4) Dr. Pandey & his team 5) last but not the least Ms. Mingyur Tamang. After a bad spell of heavy rainfall, the sun was kind enough to shower some warmth on our furry babies. The sunny weather didn't last long though.
MAY THE NEW YEAR BRING ONLY HAPPINESS AND JOY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. Why don’t we all try to religiously follow this particular New Year’s resolutions… 1) feed a stray or 2 2) provide clean water for them 3) help them when you see they aren’t well 4) stand up for strays when they are being abused 5) provide them with shelter especially during winters and monsoons. 6) get them spayed or neutered 7) adopt an INDIE. It’s not their fault they aren’t a pedigree 8 ) support us so we can carry on doing good for our furry babies. HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS.
