Hello everyone! Please consider donating some money to our new gaushala at the Sri Ramaneeyam farm in Medak, Telangana, India. The gaushala currently takes care of 11 cows, two of which are newly-born calves. Many of these cows were donated to our gaushala from other locations which lacked the resources to take care of them any further. We are expecting the number of cows at the Sri Ramaneeyam gaushala to increase as we take in more cows down the road.
In Hinduism, cows are viewed as Dhenu, one of the 7 mothers of humanity. In the present, when cows are sent to slaughterhouses or forced to provide milk with no rest, we need to recognize the motherly aspect of the Divine in these creatures. Our inspiration for the gaushala comes from the divine relationship between Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi and Lakshmi - the famous cow in Arunachalam (Thiruvannamalai) which was very dear to Bhagavan - as well as from the extensive gaushala in the Ramanasramam today. Our goal with this gaushala is to honor Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi & to show our gratitude to these gentle animals by providing a nice and peaceful life for them.
The money you donate will be used for:
- Purchasing food (fruits, grains, hay, etc.) for the cows and calves,
- Purchasing farm equipment to cultivate crops and grass,
- Constructing a fresh water drinking well,
- Maintaining and expanding the shed that the cows are kept in
- Paying for the security guard’s and caretaker’s salaries, who live on the premises
- Paying for any veterinary expenses that come up
Our current goal is $1500 per month. Please consider donating at least $15-25 (roughly â‚ą1,100-1,800) from your family.
