🚨UPDATE ON DEHUROAD CRUELTY CASE🚨
After 2 days of frantic efforts 4 out of 5 dogs of Sankalpnagari society in Dehu Road who were brutally transported away with their mouths and legs tied off, have been found. A lot of political drama happened behind the scenes but animal lovers and volunteers uniting in huge nos in the police station and searching for them, they were found at the far location of Shirgaon.
It took the combined efforts of Wakad Animal Rescue volunteers, MH14 Animal Hospital volunteers, SAS India team, Neena Rai, Padmini Stump from Mission Possible, and many other animal lovers who were involved in the search operation that this story has a happy ending.
We are immensely grateful to MH14 Animal Hospital for agreeing to take these dogs in for check up and agreeing to get them sterilised and vaccinated before they would be released. Thanks to VOSD for helping spread this news widely all over India and world.
The search for the missing white dog is ongoing and we pray she is found safe and sound soon 🙏
Relocation of community animals from their respective areas is a crime under Indian law but still such cases are commonplace in our country. Another day, another rescue effort! ⛑️
Once more, Wakad Animal Rescuers found a dog with a tumour and successfully caught and transported her with the help of @puneanimal catchers. She was admitted to @mh14animalhospital , where she will receive the necessary medical care. Due to the dog’s repeated attempts to flee, this was a challenging catch.

Life on the streets is tough. Rummaging through garbage in hopes to find food to fill the belly, navigating busy streets full of zigzagging vehicles, escaping the wrath of humans using sticks and pelting stones in an effort to shoo the animal away.
A single wound can become the cause of downward spiral in an already harsh fight for existence.
Kiya was fortunate to be spotted by our volunteer @alisha with a badly infected ear wound with a severe maggot infestation. She was in so much pain that even walking upright was not possible. Maggots had eaten away most of her ear.
Despite her state, haunted from the horror inflicted by humans in the past, she was weary of help when it arrived.
She chewed through the net in our first attempt at securing her and it was only after we repaired the net, were we able to finally catch her and get her treatment started.

Remember our brave little gastro and babesia tick fever survivors - Kaali, Raju, Moti and Butter?
They all got adopted and are off to their forever home now, living their best life in their respective houses !
Our volunteers took them to the hospital MH14 Animal Hospital and Pet Wellness clinic, for daily saline visits for more than a week, while a number of fosters gave them the TLC they needed to progress on the road to recovery.
Seeing them happily settling down in their forever homes makes our heart so full!
This is a prime example of the power of social media. Their adopters came across our Instagram and Facebook post and reached out to us.
Even small actions such as leaving a like, share and comment on our post can turn out to be life changers for the animals that we are working so hard for.

Urgent funds and foster appeal!
Imagine being snatched away from the comfort of being near your mother when you’re a baby and left to fend for yourself in this cruel world.
Over the last 15 days, we have seen multiple litters of puppies being abandoned. Despite losing 5 puppies in the last 3 weeks, our volunteers and the vets are putting in their best efforts to ensure the survival of the remaining pups who are all ill. Oreo, Blacky, Butter and Brownie who were suffering from Babesia tick fever are almost recovered, and are on the road to recovery thanks to the fantastic treatment of Pet Wellness clinic, under guidance of Dr. Madhavi and Dr. Ghanshyam.
Deprived of mother’s milk and its immunity building superpowers, these puppies now need some extra TLC to get better immunity, and live the life they deserve.
Our volunteers have attended to them round the clock, feeding them every four hours and taking them for visits to the vet daily. The daily feeding cost for the puppies is exceeding ₹200 and the vet visits are raking up bills upwards of ₹2000 everyday.
We also have Kaali and Raju who are suffering from parvo, and are under treatment at MH14 Animal hospital. The treatment for which is estimated to be around ₹4250 per pup. Daily saline visits for Moti cost ₹500 everyday.Costs so far has exceeded 25k + and we have more bills expected.
We are looking to raise funds for these puppies, every little bit matters. It doesn’t have to be a huge amount. You can just sponser a day’s meal for the pups and even that would go a long way in helping us help them get better.
We are also in dire need of fosters near Wakad or in Pune. If you or anyone you know can help us with a safe place for the pups to stay and recover well, it’ll be of immense help. Food and vet visits if required will be taken care of. Please help spread the word to ensure that these little ones get their shot at survival!

Pepper was abandoned on the streets as a 6 month old puppy.
We found him lying in a ditch with a fractured leg.
He had to undergo two back to back surgeries since his wound got infected which was followed by 5 months post operative care.
We were worried about how he would survive on the streets since he’s never learned to do that.
Pepper was lucky and was adopted by a family who’ve recently lost their own pet.

One of our local volunteers came found "Gudi" recumbent along the side of the road. She was having seizures and her condition was critical.
Gudi was hurried to MH14 animal shelter for treatment. Her body temperature was low and she was having intermittent seizures. Blood tests revealed tick fever.
Despite starting treatment, she could not recover and passed over to the rainbow bridge where we hope she is running wild and free.
While the grief of not being able to save the animal is always profound, let us ensure that there is a lesson to be learnt from Gudi's life.
In case you see an injured or sick animal around, please make sure you do something about it. If you can't take them to a vet, get in touch with the animal rescuers or volunteers in your area. Your timely action just might end up saving a life. Help us so we can help more animals in need 🙏

Danny had met with an accident near Dange Chowk, Pune but it was 4-5 days before a kind samaritan spotted him and reached out to one of our volunteers @megha.
Danny's leg was severely injured and the bone was visible. He was covered in flies and maggots had started eating away the flesh near the wound.
Sensing the urgency of the matter, we got the dog admitted at @petsforcepune for his treatment with @joshiswwapnil help with transporting the dog.
Danny is currently undergoing treatment and is on the road to recovery but we need your help in getting him healthy too.

A few days ago our volunteers came across a male brown dog with a protruded belly and filled with flies all over his body. He looked absolutely helpless and in pain. With the help of the volunteers he was sent to @petsforcepune , unfortunately he was suffering from Ascites, a condition where excess fluid builds up in the abdominal cavity that signals many serious medical problems. The abdomen also contains organs including kidneys, intestine, intestine,stomach,liver when ascites occur the excess fluid reults in the failure of these organs. The poor doggo was at the advanced level of this fatal disease. We were unable to save him and he left us all tear eyed !!!!

On the top of that, the tumour was infested with a lot of maggots.
