A big umbrella is not only a shelter but it is also a place that explores an alternative coexistence with cows and works towards creating a small circular economy (local economy) in Rishikesh.
First of all, I would like to build a small shelter for abandoned vulnerable street calves.
For the first step,
I would like to offer you a small economic opportunity.
As everyone knows, most of the open lands have become garbage dumps, and cows eat that garbage when they are hungry.
So I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to collect the non-organic garbage such as plastic waste from the garbage dumps and wash it thoroughly and dry it completely, then fill it into plastic bottles with the cleaned garbage densely.
By doing so, we, and I mean you will be making eco-bricks.(please refer to the pictures)
You will be paid 200INR for 10 eco-bricks.
(Sorry, this offer is for Indians only due to the legal reasons. However it will be very nice if foreigners could also join this project, so I would offer them something else too 🙏)
And our location is in Jonk (near Ram Jhula).
Out of these eco-bricks, with your help, I want to make a shelter for vulnerable street cows that are very important to all of us.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your help in order to make the land clean and safe again.
Calves need shelter before the cold weather settles in.
So it would be great if you could start making eco-bricks as soon as possible.
In winter 2019 and 2020, I have witnessed many premature deaths of abandoned calves.
So from this winter on, I want to welcome as many abandoned calves to our shelter as possible.
A big umbrella project includes the following plans :
- making products out of cow dung / cows’ wool
- cleaning the street and garbage dump in our village (making shelters for abandoned calves out of eco bricks)
- sowing and growing pasture and oats (oats can be used for alternative milk for humans)
- increasing green lands in Rishikesh (from the garbage dumps/barren lands to green lands)
- making vegetable fields for local consumption (using cow dung manure)
and more.
I will start purchasing your eco-bricks after the 28th of October, which means after my quarantine is over.
Thank you very much.

Volunteers are needed
For making our first shelter, we need volunteers who have:
- permaculture background
( have knowledge/experience)
- experience in building a simple hut.
- legal background (experience in establishing NGO) , and future NGO members
- agricultural background
If you have those kinds of skills you are very welcome.✨🙏✨

Volunteers who can build the shelter with me from November are needed ✨🙏✨
Anyone is welcome 🙏
Just bring your love and compassion towards abandoned calves.
You can put your creativity at work although it might be physically challenging at times, but as a reward all you could gain is unconditional love from the calves.
