Lacerated, infected with bacteria and maggots, the massive wound encircled this donkey like a hideous necklace of pain. This injury was caused the friction of a rope bound far too tight. At first the gentle victim was terrified of being touched, but as days turned to weeks in his beautiful healing process, this sweet little guy gained trust, confidence and strength. We've named him Samson, after the famous story of small Samson and the giant named Goliath. Someday with your help animal cruelty will stop. For all the meek your love give strength. Jeelu was hiding as many animals do when they are suffering acute pain. Normally cheerful and always charming, this young teenage puppy must have had her skin snagged by a passing vehicle and the wound was so wide that stitching it closed was not an option. She needed several weeks of daily wound care, flushing, re-bandaging and rest in order to stabilize.
The final stage of healing could take place outside the hospital. With a kind and caring family in her home neighborhood, we knew it would be safer to return her where human and animal friends would welcome her, and avert the danger of exposure to the viruses other hospital patients can carry.
Checking on her every week, we watched Jeelu flourish, and you can too.

Before she collapsed in pain, Aisha made it all the way back to her neighbor's house to show them how desperately she needed help. When she saw her rescuers, her tail wagged with relief.
Most of the skin of her forearm was torn off in this horrible degloving accident. But luckily there were no fractures and because her neighbors alerted us immediately, we arrived before exposure to air and dirt could cause more damage to the tissue.
Aisha seems to fill everyone around her with light. Real angels are among us. Please donate: https://

We got a call that a street dog was covered in mange. We hadn't expected to find a dog so emaciated. We're not sure if the hunger had made her vulnerable to mange, or if mange had so disturbed her that she could no longer even search for food. We were so relieved that she started eating right away.
We treated her mange with medicine and daily baths, and waited eagerly for the first signs of recovery. These signs did not happen overnight. In fact it took almost a month of coaxing before Primrose (named for a flower we knew was waiting inside her) started to show signs of happiness. And then, something changed. Suddenly Primrose blossomed with a radiant smile. She started to put on weight and her shining new coat of fur began to grow in. What a sweet, velvety girl she is today.

When Guddu was a calf, his mother's owner tied a rope around his head and made sure he only got a minimum of his mother's milk so that most of it could be sold. For dairy farmers around the world, bulls are "surplus" and are gotten rid of in several ways.
When Guddu was abandoned and left on the road, his owner left the harness on, probably not thinking his bull would even live long enough to outgrow it. Somehow, Guddu did live and grow--enough so that his halter almost took his life. The wounds it caused behind his ears, horns and on his nose, are very hard to look at, let alone imagine enduring.
But beautiful Guddu was just the gentlest sweetheart every step of the way. Even bulls are fragile.

Meet Lucky-love, who suffered a horrendous laceration but had the good luck of living in a city with a street animal rescue service, AND a caring family who saw his wound just minutes after it happened. They didn't see what hit him, but it looks like he went straight to the family for help. And they knew just what to do: they called Animal Aid and within a few hours Lucky-love was in our surgery having the huge wound repaired.
Lucky-love doesn't live inside anyone's house. He has neighborhood friends both animals and humans and lives a life of cheerful adventure on a peaceful street with kind neighbors. How lucky we were to see his home turf and be reminded that life for many street dogs is beautiful, when there is a caring family and a responsive rescue team, who he turned to for one last cuddle before rejoining his neighborhood friends.
When it's a question of helping someone who hurts, the answer is Yes. Please donate: https://

When we first saw this skinny puppy it looked like he had been hit by a car, but then his neighbors told us that he had stopped eating and suddenly was unable to stand. When we examined him in the hospital we determined by his nasal discharge, diarrhea and loss of appetite that he probably had canine distemper, a virus that can be fatal and for which there is no direct treatment. Because distemper sufferers often develop what's called secondary pneumonia, we gave him preventive antibiotics and were so happy that he began eating within the first day. He was so sensitive that it seemed like love was as important to him as food itself and we wondered if his condition could have improved without it. He didn't stand for quite a few days, and when he did, he seemed to be propelled by his will to give love.

Time was running out for this old street dog. We rescued her just in time for life-saving surgery. An enormous and rapidly-growing abdominal tumor was within weeks --maybe days--of growing into her vital organs. Janvi's astounding peacefulness is a deep part of her nature. The trust she gave us can probably be credited to the kindness of her human neighbors who were so glad to welcome her back after surgery.
Janvi has every chance for a bright future, and she has a glowing present life, too. With help, even a big problem can disappear.

Rescue of a kitten found injured in a drain

26/07/2020

The family who occasionally feeds this street dog could barely recognize him when he showed up in front of their house after a long disappearance. Hairless, his face was encrusted and blistered with mange, and his skin was almost purple from scratching. But he responded to medical help incredibly fast. He was accustomed to human kindness and treating him was a pleasure. We were able to return him to his neighborhood within just a few weeks, neutered and mange-free, and you can see in the final scenes that Duggu was just ecstatic to be back with his people.
Let's get someone home. Healed.

The blood gradually began to ooze from the deep huge forehead wound caused by a rope squeezing tighter and tighter over months. Ownerless, we cannot fathom what moved someone to bind this poor gentle boy in the first place, only to then turn him loose to find his food on roadside plants and grasses. He grew, but the rope, of course, did not. When we found him, he was starting to fade away. Pain had dulled his appetite and he'd grown weary of fighting it. But within hours we had the maggots out of the wound, flushed away all the dirt and blood, and soothed him with a snug bandage that we would change daily for 7 weeks. We're so eager for you to meet Socrates here. The best remedy for human mistreatment of animals is extra kindness. Please donate: http://

Multiple wounds tore open this puppy's neck, shoulders and ear, we rescued this puppy as he sat trembling and woozy with pain. We hurriedly gave the beautiful little victim pain medicine, hydration drip, bandaging and food, but the best part of his rescue was holding him close and experiencing the marvel of his recovery. Within days, Tiggy's incredibly playfulness and boundless affection took over.
There's nothing better than a happy ending.

This is Kalpana, a gorgeous sweetheart with a deep wound on her back, and both ears filled with so many painful ticks that she could actually be at risk for anemia.

We have removed all the ticks and she's eating great so we're sure she's going to be completely healed soon and able to return to the lovely girl who sat with her giving love until our ambulance arrived. Healing and spaying Kalpana will cost about Rs 1800 (USD $24) and we love preparing her for a long happy life ahead.

Barney somehow made it to a pool of muddy water, where he lay down to hide, and perhaps to die. Badly injured dogs so often find water to lay in. It must soothe them. But how do they manage to get to it when they aren't even able to stand? We have seen animals run with adrenaline coursing through their bodies, only to lay down and be unable to stand again, sometimes for weeks.

We hope to get this old beauty back in action within a month or two. He has pain in one of his hips but he does have sensation in his toes so we're hoping he doesn't have spine damage or anything else that just won't heal. Barney is so gentle, so emotional and so needing loving kindness.

Please help transform Barney with your wonderful donation today: www.animalaidunlimited.org/donate/

When we got the call that a puppy was covered in blood we had no idea how bad it could be. The entire skin, muscle and tissue flap that attaches to a dog's lower gums had been ripped away from the bone.
