This 8-year-old Bunny presented with a severe dilation of the left testicle! 😵
Testicular neoplasia are well reported in old rabbits (seminomas, interstitial cell tumors, Sertoli cell tumors, and teratomas) but in this case…physical examination revealed the presence of multiple small structures crunching under the fingers! 🤭Radiography showed a lot of Christmas balls!!🎄…I mean, lithiasis! 😅Ultrasonography revealed an herniation of the bladder into the left testicle.😷

Inguinal herniation of the urinary bladder is seen frequently in clinical practice. Male rabbits are likely predisposed to inguinal and scrotal hernias because their inguinal rings remain open their entire life. Thick sludge or stones may be present in the herniated bladder, as a result of faulty elimination of urine and crystals from the hernial sac. 🎊🤹‍♂️

For our old friend, a surgery was performed through a combined scrotal & abdominal approach. The purpose was to remove all the stones via a cystotomy, reduce the hernia, close the inguinal ring and remove the hernial sac. 👨‍⚕️
Now, our little patient is ready for Christmas Eve! 🐰✌️

Arthrogryposis is a common congenital malformation in cattle and it affects the limbs through fibrosis of the joints leading to fixation. When arthrogryposis is accompanied by a combination of kyphosis, scoliosis, torticollis or cleft palate, it is most commonly referred to as Crooked Calf Disease.

We got to see a tapeworm (or Dipylidium caninum) the other day. He was an active little guy.

Tapeworms are intestinal parasite that can get up to 11” long, and as they mature they shed segments. 🪱 🐾💉
