Yes, I believe there are many kinds but hopefully no one is coming from an intentionally bad place. It’s easy to love when you get love back but if an animal decides NOT to reciprocate its important to love from a distance by respecting that. No need to take the rejection personally 😇🤪

Kittens have different stages of development. Did you know that between 7-14 weeks is their most active play period where they learn about the world through play. It is especially important that we use play to teach them about new textures, sounds, people, things etc.

Social play and object play are at their height here so make sure your camera is ready because it’s going to be very cute!

A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor and that’s exactly what I say about raising a pet. You need to question advise and not follow it blindly. Even advice I’m giving you, if something works I want you to understand why. If something doesn’t work I want you to understand why.

Resource guarding, food insecurity, food aggression, toy aggression, territorial behaviour? It goes by many names but the fundamentals are the same. You NEED to stay away from punishment and correction and start to understand the root first. Any aggression you show will only make the problem worse.

All behaviour serves a function or a purpose to the animal just like colony forming with cats. It started out when several females found it more functional to raise kittens and keep them safe if they were in a group. Other behaviours like eating, sleeping, latrine behaviours don’t require the joint efforts of a group.

This means not all cats get along with other cats. Sometimes you will have a solo cat (regardless of gender). Having a peaceful and stress free multi-ca household means having a deep understanding about inter-cat dynamics.

Expectations need to be set accordingly. You wouldn’t treat a toddler like an adult so why do we tend to expect adult like behaviour from our kittens? This would mean making changes accordingly like small & shallow litter boxes, kitten safe litter like which isn’t toxic if the kitten consumes a little, appropriate teething toys, socialization plans & kitty kindergarten classes.

Our older cats also go through physical and mental changes that require adaptations e.g steps to reach higher platforms, more regular vet checks, grooming if they cant keep up their coat, dietary supplements etc.

Cats will also purr when they are being petted and like that affection almost as if asking for more.
