In a country, where the state of people living on streets is horrifying, would the condition of stray animals be on our list of priorities? Under our car, next to our building garbage bin, chewing on leftovers from a thrown cardboard box, along the roadside or just outside our grocery store - where not are they found?

From ‘Bolt’ and ‘Scooby Doo’, we have seen movies with superpower dogs, to ‘Tom’ & ‘Kitty’ we have fallen in love with the playful cat. But do we treat them well in reality? Think about it!

Well, we are glad someone does, just as we do. And so, we’ve joined hands with 'Boo-Boo & Cuddly Poo' towards resolving the concerns of man’s best friend. (Oops! Did we just let the cat outta the bag?!)

Caramel aka Chotu was born just before the monsoon in 2017. We found him near a gutter that was gushing with water from the rains. This little fellow had found a spot under the security guards canopy.
We met him everyday, splashing in the puddles, wet and dirty and perpetually hungry. He was so easily likeable that many people fed him and got kisses from him in gratitude. He is our monsoon baby. The ultimate survivor of the raging rains of Mumbai.
4 years hence, today Chotu holds a special place in the pack of our community dogs. He is friends with almost all pet dogs in the society. He meets everyone daily, walks with them and showers them with kisses. The other community dogs don’t like to meet the pets. They either keep their distance or show their displeasure when a pet dog comes close. Chotu is the peacemaker. He runs from dog to dog kissing each of them and telling them to keep calm. With him around the warring factions keep the peace.
Over the years Chotu has rescued many a stray pup from the big guys of the pack. He has helped induct Snoopy and Coal, two 2-week old stray pups into the otherwise closed and fully populated pack.
Our noble peace prize winner still gets fed many times a day by many people. He is nice and plump now. You can stop by to say just say hi but he will not let you go without a good belly rub.
Chotu, our empathy champion shows us that everything can be resolved with lots of wet sloppy kissing. We mostly agree.

Captain has been with us since over 2 years now. He just came to our kitchen’s service exit one day, skin and bones, scared and hungry. Brownie, the dog who occupied that spot gave him a scare but seemed to not mind having him around. Mostly because Captain (who wasn’t named yet) was submissive.
He adopted us, found a few spots to sleep, to keep a lookout and to generally sit around for head pats. One day not too long after he had arrived, a vehicle ran over his front leg and he started limping. That day he was christened Captain.
Captain has been perpetually wounded, in some way or the other. He has managed to break all his legs, thankfully not at the same time. With a little help from us, but mostly due to his undying will to just be there, he has pulled through everything. Being consistently injured and consistently bouncing back. That’s our Captain.
One thing that works well for Captain is his food. Living outside the service exit of our modest kitchen, he gets the freshest food that we cook at , lots of bone broth and head pats and endless belly rubs from anyone who is out for a break. He likes to sit by the stairs, one foot on my foot, there is something special about sitting with a dog. The silence you share amongst all the noise of the city is brilliantly peaceful. Captain is a happy soul and our truest friend. He will always be an integral part of the family.
Our community dogs are fighters. All they need is some food, some love and some people who they can call family. We are there for Brownie, Captain, Fixie, Chotu, Kalu, KK, Irfani, Wolfie, Girlie, Snoopy, Mili and Gili. Some we feed daily, some we just say hi to and some we spend a lot of time sitting around with. They are our little family at . They are what keep us sane in this big bad world, our source of strength and our biggest weakness.

"Before Lizzy's, we were giving her RC dry food plus pedigree gravy. We researched a lot and did study about the benefits of giving freshly cooked meals. We tried making it at home(boiled chicken and veggies) but somehow Inji didn't take to it too well. But she loved and still loves eating meals from Lizzy's. Her favourite is still the super chicken and the roast chicken. We have had an absolutely amazing experience with Lizzy’s. The meals are freshly made. Inji loves it. And your team is so cooperative and considerate given how choosy and picky Inji is with her food. I love how you guys took care of her needs and suggested different combinations. I wished she liked different proteins but maybe in the future we could try again🙈 For now she LOVES your chicken meals!"
