King Cobras are not only very dangerous but the biggest venomous snake species found on earth ranging over 10 to 12 feet. The biggest king cobra ever found was 18ft 4in long found in Thailand. In India, king cobras are found northern West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, etc. Besides India, they are also found in China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal, Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia.

Although we call them King Cobras, it is unknown to many that the King cobra is not an actual Cobra. Cobras belong to the genus of Naja (such as Naja naja, Naja kaouthia, Naja sputatrix, etc ) whereas King cobra belongs to the genus of Ophiophagus. The scientific name being Ophiophagus hannah, the king cobra is the sole member of this genus. But still, king cobra and actual cobras are closely related and are from the same family of Elapidae.

In India, any venomous species are banned and protected by the 1972 Act. Killing any snake in India can result in 3 years of imprisonment or a monetary penalty or both. If you see any snake in a populated area, please call your local wildlife authorities immediately.

Rhinos are one of the most fascinating animals in the animal kingdom. Built like a tank these animals are the epitome of power. Yet to every individual there is a vulnerable side. Because of their thick skin and powerful horns they are one of the most hunted, poached trafficked animals in the world. At the beginning of the 20th century there were 500k rhinos in the world but today in 2022 we are left with only 27000 rhinos approximately in the world. There were and are 5 rhino species in the world namely the Sumatran rhino, the Javan rhino, the Black rhino, the Greater one-horned rhino, and the White rhino. Luckily none of the rhino species have gone extinct just yet although many subspecies have. Among which the latest victim to be is the Northern white rhinoceros, one of the two subspecies of white rhino formerly found in Central Africa. There are only 2 of them left in captivity named Najin and Fatu, sadly both of them are female.

The good news is people are starting to care and organizations like Save the Rhino, International Rhino Foundation, Rhino Orphanage, and Fauna and Flora International have come forth for the conservation of these animals.

So this World Rhino Day let us unite under one mission which is to protect wildlife and stop it from going extinct for their future is our hope for a better future.

Grey parrots or Congo African grey parrots are arguably one of the most intelligent birds amongst all collectible birds in the hobby.

They are medium-sized birds mostly found as the name suggests, in the rainforests of central Africa. They are also the largest parrot in Africa and they live up to 23 years in the wild but 40 to 60 years in captivity.

In the exotic pet market of India, these exotic aviators can go for anywhere between 30k to 70k. Even though they are high maintenance they make excellent pets because of their high level of intelligence. African grey parrots are found to be more intelligent than an average 2 to the 3-year-old baby. Along with that, they can mimic sounds almost the same way and very clearly. They are among the best talkers in the parrot family able to repeat words after hearing them only once or twice.

Snakes like ball pythons and corn snakes indeed make good pets but some snakes are available in the hobby that is too hard to keep and completely unreasonable. Regardless of being nonvenomous and legal, they do not make good pets.

The above-mentioned 3 types of snakes fall into that high-maintenance category. Elephant trunk snake and Dragon snake both are very easily stressed and when they are stressed stop eating which in turn leads to further complications. Dragon snakes are also very hard to find and notorious for not acclimatizing very well to captive combinations.

Anacondas on the other hand are semi-aquatic and elephant trunk snake is aquatic. Aquatic and semi-aquatic snakes are very hard to keep due to the very obvious problem of incapability of providing a well-hospitable enclosure. Also, the giant size of the anaconda is not manageable for most people. Expert guidance is needed to keep most of these species.

A joyous moment for us indeed. India in a few hours is to have her first cheetah population after 1952. In India, cheetahs were declared extinct in 1952 due to extensive hunting and loss of habitat. We wish these new 8 cheetahs as well as another 12 that are to come from South Africa the very best. We hope they will acclimatize well, give birth to a whole new generation of younglings and cheetahs will roam in the heart of India once again. These 8 cheetahs should step on Indian soil by September 17th at 7:30 am.

At Morph India we believe in claiming the right that we truly deserve. We are constantly communicating with the wildlife authorities and trying to make this platform bigger so our government acknowledges this hobby and supports it.

We are fighting for your right to keep these exotic animals. And we believe there is a greater cause at stake. Domestication of a few of these animals helps us understand these beautiful creatures and educate people about them. India is a diverse and very ecologically resourceful nation and to protect this we need compassion for nature deep in people's hearts, without which, we have learned from history, that humans protect nothing. Exotic pets make great ambassadors for their wild relatives and help us feel for the priceless wildlife we have by replacing fear with knowledge and compassion.

Macaws are in high demand any time of the year despite their high price tag. A macaw can cost anywhere between 100k to 1100k rupees in the Indian exotic pet market. Macaws make great pets because of their social and interactive nature. They live for about 35 to 50 years so they are a perfect fit if you're looking for an exuberant exotic companion for years to come.

It should be noted that not only their price but their expenses in maintenance and feeding are also very high before buying. If you can afford to give them a happy life treat yourself to one of these majestic birds.

Corn snakes are no strangers to fame in the Indian exotic pet market. So much so, that at this point they are the most popular as well as the most bought pet snake in India shyly beating ball pythons by a close margin. Due to certain circumstances, even wild-type ball pythons have become unreasonably expensive in the hobby yet corn snakes, which were rare as well as more expensive than ball pythons pre-covid have become more affordable and easily available.

A corn snake, in today's hobby, one can get for somewhere in the neighborhood of 18k to 28k depending on the morph. Whereas a wild-type ball python would cost between 28 to 35k. This might not seem like a big difference but in the 18k to 28k price range, one can get multiple gorgeous morphs of corn snakes such as Albino, Coral snow, Blizzard, Hypo lavender, Blood red, and Candy cane. Palmetto corns might be more expensive but definitely less expensive than morphed ball pythons as they might even come in six figures.

WE FIGHT TO CLAIM YOUR RIGHT.

At Morph India we do not compromise with legality. The beneficiaries of this firm stance are our buyers. We urge all of our Indian viewers to register their exotic live species on the Parivesh Portal as that helps our government to keep track of the exotic species being kept in captivity. This also helps to reduce illegal animal trafficking and poaching. We encourage it so our buyers never face any legal trouble for keeping a legal pet.

Register your exotic pets so government addresses this growing community and we can fight for your right to keep these wonderful animals.
