The long-wattled umbrellabird (Cephalopterus penduliger) is an Umbrellabird in the Cotinga family.
Conservation status: (VU)
Vulnerable
Umbrellabird, any of three species of cotingas (family Cotingidae, order Passeriformes) of tropical American forests. They are notable for their unique, umbrella-like crest and for the pendant suspended from the throat, which is an inflatable wattle. When displaying, the male spreads the crest to cover his head and, at the same time, makes rumbling noises.
The three species are black and 38–50 cm (15–20 inches) long. All spend most of their lives in the canopies of tall trees. In the ornate umbrellabird (C. ornatus) of the Amazon basin, the wattle is short, triangular, and devoid of feathers on the hindside. In the long-wattled umbrellabird (Cephalopterus penduliger), found west of the Andes in Ecuador and Colombia, the wattle may be 28 cm (11 inches) long and is entirely shingled with short, black feathers. The bare-necked umbrellabird (C. glabricollis) of Panama and Costa Rica has a short, round wattle, which is bright red and unfeathered. The latter two species are considered by some authorities to be subspecies of C. ornatus.

✨ Opaline and Opaline-blue ( Silver ) mutation of blue & gold macaw
🔴 Blue Opaline or Silver Blue and Cold Macaw Mutation..
Fourth Generation Macaw Mutation:
Silver is produced by a combination of the Blue-mutation Blue & Gold Macaw, and the Opaline-mutation Blue & Gold Macaw.
It takes a minimum of two generations to combine the two said mutations to achieve this visual appearance.
For Silver's case in particular, because her father is also an Opaline Blue-mutation (wherein males require a minimum of three generations to produce), Silver is a fourth-generation or F4. This requires 12-15 years on the part of the breeder.

Like the Blue-mutation macaw, this mutation is also sometimes seen- its coolers making it stand out like a jewel- among wild macaw flocks in South America.
The naturally occurring Opaline-mutation is a s*x-linked mutation which causes a reduction in melanin, but enhances psittacin pigments in a pattern that is sometimes referred to as a spread
As a result, hens with opaline genes will always show the pattern (they are termed "visuals"). Males require two copies of the gene to be visuals, so there are far fewer of them. We have noticed subtle differences in males with only one copy of the gene ("splits") that sometimes allow a breeder to tell the difference between a split male and one that has no opaline gene at all.
The opaline B&G was often called the pied, yellow, or golden (sunshine) macaw, so there is some confusion there.

Sadly he will not be with us to see his dream and passion realised. We will continue in his name to do all we can to make this dream a reality, and see the Spix's macaw fly free again as he wished!
